Great place to stay

This is a wonderful house in a great location on Mission Beach. All the amenities are taken care of, plus extras like a nice grill, bicycles, and a kayak. It's a 3 minute walk from the beach. It is very clean. The only downsides are that there is only 1 private bedroom with a door, the ground floor and the 3rd floor can be used as bedrooms but the entire floor is really a bedroom and only the stairs separate them off, so this house is better for families than for a group of couples who would need privacy. Also there is only parking for 1 car as the garage is full of stuff, and that parking is a very tight squeeze. Overall a very good experience.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our Winter Stay

My sister and her family came from Paris and we stayed at Kitty and Cathy's place. Nice, short walking distance to the beach, plenty of options for food. We went to the Iguana Bar (I think) across the street on our 2nd to last night and just chilled. Kid friendly! We ended up playing Apples to Apples there til midnight. Only thing I would say is not enough toilet paper for the 6 of us.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed you stay, we do have a fantastic location. A note on the toilet paper...we provide ample paper products to start you off on your vacation. Each one of our guests certainly has individual needs in that category, so we cannot know the amount a group will need for a week. What we DO have is a super-friendly and convenient market at the end of our block that has most ANY sundry item you may find that you need during your stay. Happy Vacationing!!

RELAXING STAY!!

My family rented the house for a week when my son came home from Aganistan. We found the house clean and very updated. The kitchen held just about everything we needed! (we cooked a thanksgiving dinner for my son) . The patios were great and the soaker tub in the bathroom to die for! ( I think my daughters and I took baths every night and just relaxed. ) Having the kayak was great for my kids and being close to both the ocean and bay is great. We were all able to relax and had just a great time.

Great little condo with lots of cool amenities

Great little condo about 2 minutes walk from the beach. The place was well maintained, with a cute little patio and some cool surprises in the garage! (Canoe, bodyboards and bikes). Good help from the manager, and even the neighbors were fun! No problem, will come back if I have the opportunity to do so.

Nice place, as described. A short walk to the beach or the bay and walking/biking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. Everything was nice and clean. Home owner was very nice and helpful, called to check in with us after we arrived. Lots of toys in the garage as well, had a great time.

Not quite what we expected!

My 2 sister's and I stayed at this property from Oct. 19th thru the 23rd. First the good points- the location was good. The access to the bay (about 1 block) and the ocean/beach (about 2 blocks) was very nice for our long walks in the mornings. It was easy to get to from the airport and had easy access to the interstate system for our daily excursions. The beds in the condo were very comfortable and the master bathroom was very nice. Also, there was an issue with the cable system in the unit (didn't have any TV until the 3rd day there) but the owner worked very hard to get that pproblem resolved. Now the bad points. We were very disappointed with the condition of the unit. The carpets, cabinet doors,downstairs bathroom (mainly the bath mat and bath tub) were very dirty. The carpets had a lot of stains, the kitchen cabinet doors were very sticky and the bath mat was dirty and moldy. The bath tub had a constant drip. There were no trash bags, sink soap, etc. and only 2 travel size kleenex packets for use. The unit also had a very musty smell. I realize it is close to water, but I think it had been closed up for quite sometime. There also were several other things mentioned by previous renters in the guestbook . We have all stayed in VRBO units before and have not had problems like these before. Before writing this, I contacted the property manager and owner with these problems only to be told maybe we should stay in a motel next time. Hopefully this will not ruin our chances of using VRBO in the future. I would not recommend this unit unless the problems listed above are addressed.

Owner response: As the owners/managers of “Your Beach and Bay Getaway” and "missionbayrental" we take pride in our guests always having a positive experience in our home. this is the first negative review we have received since opening our doors in the last four years. we are sorry that the client felt that there experience was not up to their expectations but it is a beach house. also, we do list all the supplies we do have readily available for each renter to use, here and on vrbo, perhaps they did not read it. they were not happy about the cost up front but booked our home anyway. perhaps this had a little to do with this review? We did review the listed issues, took them into advisement and have gone over all issues with the maintenance and cleaning crews just to make sure that all of our procedures are being met. As per our normal schedule we have also completed the “spring cleaning” for the up-coming season. Our beach house is in great shape as always, and ready for the new season. we do appreciate your comments. this helps us to be alert to our clients changing needs. Our guestbook is always on display at the house for you to read the wonderful things written in it through the years. also, phone numbers, email address, and fax numbers are always listed if the client has any real problems or concerns. thank you, owners and managers

Nice little beach condo

Overall, a really great place to stay by the beach if you're looking for a place in the mission beach area. Beach was great, not too crowded. Pros: 1. Nicely maintained beach condo only a few minutes walk to the beach. 2. Comes with beach amenities (e.g., 4 cruiser bicycles, 1 two person kayak, beach towels, and outdoor shower prior to entering into the house). 3. Free wifi Cons: 1. PARKING - please carpool as the 2 car parking is really tight 2. One of the smallest TV's i have seen in awhile

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thanks for providing all of the beach "accessories". Our kids enjoyed building sandcastles - something we don't do enough of at home. The best moments on our trip were the unplanned ones. We didn't have to over-schedule ourselves. This house made it possible to sit, relax and see what happens. What a fantastic place you have! You are lucky to have it. We are lucky that you shared it! We stayed here for my parents 60th wedding anniversary/family reunion. The location was perfect as you are steps to the beach or the bay. We enjoyed going kayaking on the bay and riding bikes around the bay- all provided by the owners. We went to the beach everyday and enjoyed being able to walk back and forth throughout the day- beach chairs, toys, and beach towels all provided. We watched the 4th of july fireworks show- 3 shows were visible on the bay-just steps from our place.. We enjoyed great restaurants- Saska's (seafood and steak) which was also celebrating it's 60th anniversary and The Mission for great banana/granola pancakes. The location is also close to the ballpark (20 minute drive) and we took in a Padres game at Petco park. The parking is limited- only 2 spaces provided but there is more parking at a park nearby. Also the kitchen was great with all the supplies needed to cook for a group and we enjoyed using the barbeque too. We put together every puzzle while we were there and there we other games as well. There are 3 levels so there are a lot of stairs. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others.

If any of you ever think of anything in addition that would be nice to have at the house please let us know! A little known fact I'll share here - San Diego really has it's best weather in September, October and into November - if possible to take a vacation then, you are almost guaranteed great weather - and of course no crowds!

We stayed here for a week in March for Spring Break. The house has so many amenities it made it very enjoyable. We especially appreciated the bikes, sand toys, beach chairs and there is even a very nice kayak to use. We parked our car and never had to move it as the location is close to everything and the bikes are in great shape so we rode everywhere. There is even a public tennis and basketball court right at the bay. The bay beach is so close our 10 year old could walk back to the house alone, there is only an alley with minimal traffic. The Ocean beach is barely a block or two the other way with the cross walk right at our intersection, again only a 3 minute walk! The house itself is spotless, very nicely decorated, has tons of bedding; we were especially impressed that they had matress topers for the sofa beds that made them very comfortable. Very modern kitchen and appliances, Great patios to lounge on especially the one off the master br on the third floor. Master bedroom has a working fireplace and they even supply a fire log. There is a huge bathtub in the master bath also. Again, spotless! This is our fifth rental in Mission Beach and the first time we rented by owner. It was by far the best experience and house that we've rented. We love that they allow dogs and groups of 10! There were only 5 of us but in reading the comment book on the counter there are plenty of groups that stay there and have a fabulous time!

We enjoyed staying at this location. Everything was as pictured, it was a great location, we were very happy with our stay. We were close to the beach, the airport and many attractions. Our family consisted of 6 adults (up to 8 at times) and 1 child, it was very accomidating. Wish we could come back more often.

This location was great - 20 minutes to downtown and a 1-2 minute walk to the beach and less than 1 minute to the bay. The kayak is great, and we were able to launch the kayak right next to the house. The house was nice - we cooked both in the kitchen and out on the grill. It's not a huge house, but we were able to easily accommodate 7 (unrelated) adults here and for a few nights 9(!), although those night it was a bit of a squeeze. The main area is open all the way from the first floor to the third. The one exception is the room with the double/single bunk on the 2nd floor, which has a door. The local area is great - we easily walked to rent surfboards and to get lunch and dinner and shop, all within a few blocks. The owners are very nice - everything went smoothly and perfectly. Definitely this is one of my best renting experiences, overall. I would definitely go back.

We stayed at this house for 5 wonderful days in August. This home is very nicely appointed with lots of amenities, beach toys, boogie boards, beach towels, games you name it! The kids had a fabulous time at the beach park less than a minutes walk from the house. This is a fabulous corner location! Can't wait to come back.

Great times in SD. Close to everything and then some. Hit Mission at night, beach during the day, caught a Padres game at night, and closed the weekend at Johnny J's on Garnet Street. 70 degrees and sunny every day... thanks again
