  This apartment had a great location in Rome. Simona met us on the corner and escorted us upstairs to the apartment. The smaller bedroom was VERY small and perhaps not quite adequate for a grown up couple as you could not walk at all in the room if you had both beds set up, however the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The pictures are accurate but give a slightly exaggerated feeling as to the actual size. Mirrored walls add to the effect of space. Being on the 4th floor was a bit challenging - 5 flights of stairs, but the higher level made for nice views. As others had commented, the smaller bathroom was tiny; we also chose not to use the shower in there and all shared the bath/shower in the larger bathroom. The bathtub in that room was nice and deep although probably short for a taller person. We really enjoyed the balcony. We could have used instructions in using the coffeemaker as we are not familiar with how it worked so relied on Nescafe. Overall we had a wonderful time.

  We stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks including the Christmas and New Year's holidays 2010/11. For our needs, the location of this apartment was perfect. It is a pleasant walk to Vatican City in one direction and an equally pleasant walk to the Colosseum/Roman Forum in the other. It is an even shorter walk to the Spanish Steps area where fabulous shopping opportunities abound and all the famous-name Italian designer shops can be found. I went home with my suitcase weighted down with several pairs of stylish Italian shoes. Tired of walking in those fabulous new shoes? No problem - the Piazza del Popolo is close by and taxis are readily available at its taxi stand. A few steps north of the piazza is the Flaminio Metro station to take you wherever you need to go. We had so many memorable moments on this trip - walking to St. Peter's Square on Christmas Day and arriving just in time to get a seat beneath the Pope's balcony to watch the Swiss Guards and Italian military forces parade in and then to witness the Pope deliver his Christmas address - from about 7 rows back - wow! We explored and marveled at Roman history and art at the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Capitoline Museum. Another great experience was making a wonderful Christmas dinner in this apartment's kitchen - with ingredients recommended by the helpful and friendly people at the market around the corner (we had the "3 P's": porchetta, prosecco and pannetone! with recommended accompaniments - fabulous!) We explored italian cuisine at a different trattoria or ristorante each day - each one seemed better than the last. There are many places to eat within a short walk of this apartment. I would give this place 5 stars for location and 3 stars for amenities, etc. The listing description was accurate and the photos do accurately reflect the rental's appearance. The apartment is older, but we found the character of the hand-hewn ceiling beams, ancient tile floors and antiques charming. My suggestions for improvement would be to add some glassware (there was enough china to serve an army, but no glasses - in Rome the lack of wineglasses should be a crime! :-) A sharp knife would have been most welcome while we were cutting our Christmas roast, and the grout in the master bath needs a good scrubbing (otherwise spotless apartment). Caroline met us on arrival and was very helpful in orienting us to our location in Rome. She also arranged our drivers to and from the airport which worked out great! Ciao!

  We stayed for four nights at this charming apartment. Our group consisted of myself, my husband and two teenage girls. The location of the apartment was perfect for touring the major sites of Rome on foot. We were able to walk to almost everything we wanted to visit and public transportation is available when preferred. I especially loved the terrace which overlooked the small street below and in the evening could sit out there with a glass of wine and listen to the man playing beautiful accordian music to the diners at the restaurant below. We didn't have to use the air conditioning much because when all the windows were open the breeze was most comfortable and the views out each of the windows was very enjoyable. It was very convenient having a washing machine and I was surprised at just how quickly clothing will dry when hung outside! We did not do any meal preparation but did use the oven and microwave for reheating leftovers. Kitchen was well supplied except for a coffeemaker which I really missed. Having two bathrooms was important to us (2 teenage girls!) and the only downside was the shower in the guest bathroom was so small that that we decided to all use the one in the master bedroom. The apartment furnishings were comfortable and overall the apartment gave us the opportunity to experience Rome like one of the residents. Caroline, the apartment owner, was always available and very helpful with suggestions on how to best get around and explore the area. She suggested great walking routes to the Vatican and the Colosseum and was able to provide us with a driver who picked us up at the airport on our arrival and another who drove us to our cruise ship on the day we departed. I would have to say that our overall stay was quite good and a good value as well. We did discover that an older building without an elevator was a challenge at the end of a long day exploring the city by foot but managed to climb those four flights of stairs each day reminding ourselves that with all the great Italian food we were consuming that perhaps the stairs were just what we needed to rationalize those cheeses and desserts! We highly recommend dining at Rosati's and Vito's which were two restaurants offering what we thought were some of the best food we had the opportunity to enjoy while visiting the area.
