Located on a small, private peninsula with access by sea or by car, Villa Kalypso offers vacationers a break from the chaos. Nestled amongst olive trees and shaded by pine trees, this rustic and remote property is situated directly beside the Aegean Sea with breath-taking sunset views from its many patios and easy access to the sea and partially sandy beach.
The main villa is comprised of 2 large and airy bedrooms (1 queen bed; 1 twin bed & 1 bunk bed w/ optional crib), bathroom with sunken bathtub, kitchen, dining area and living room area with a traditional fireplace. The living room area has convertible couches for additional sleeping for up to three persons. Encircling the villa is a large patio with outdoor dining table, lounge chairs, and shower. The villa was built to bring in the sea breezes and is ideal for the hot summer months.
The detached and private studio is comprised of one main room with queen bed, kitchen, sitting area (with a convertible couch) and bathroom with shower. It has its own outside patio with small table, lounge chairs and dramatic views. It is ideal for a small family, in-laws or nanny and can optionally be rented separately.
Below the villa and studio are several hammocks hung in the pine trees for relaxing away the lazy afternoons and an Alonni patio for enjoying the panoramic view of the sea and sunsets. There is also a small treehouse platform and swing for the children to enjoy and make their own.
The near-by partially sandy beach is considered to be one of the nicest on the island and offers easy swimming. Directly below the property, for the more adventurous, there are many rocks to climb or dive into the Aegean Sea from. The property also has a private dock.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1972
My name is Marinela and I was a toddler when my family built our summer home. I now have my own family and continue to travel to Alonissos every summer to share the experience with them. My husband, Speed, is an English teacher at our local high school and we have two energetic boys, Jetson 8 and Griffin 6. We live near the beach in San Diego, California and are often questioned as to why we travel across the globe to a different beach. The answer is simply that Alonissos is magical and its beauty and nature recharge my "batteries" so I can face the demands of the coming year.
Why the Owner Chose Alonissos
We are a half-Greek, half-American family that were one of the first tourists to build a home on the West side of Alonissos. My parents extensively explored Greece for the perfect property to buy and build on and this is where we settled. It is beautiful, serene and has a perfect little beach. When we built our home we had to bring all the supplies by sea as there were no roads yet. In fact, it took decades to finally bring a road (albeit still dirt and bumpy) to our house and now we afford the luxury of driving to town for our supplies and an evening dining out on the town.
The Unique Benefits of this Villa
Naturally secluded from view by pine trees and the terrain, accessible only by sea or via the bumpy dirt road, this property offers privacy and serenity. The nearest neighbors are across the bay and only the outgoing will ever wander onto the property, usually lost and looking for the path back to town. Most evenings and mornings, after and before the day visitors have left the beach, usually offer a feeling of complete isolation and tranquility. This is the ideal property for those persons looking to escape, tune out and get in touch with nature and each other.

If you love total peace & quiet, the most fabulous sea view, spectacular sunsets, and your own ladder access for snorkelling in the fabulous Aegean sea, you will love this place. We stayed in the studio, which is 'small but perfectly formed' with everything you could need to hand. The last part of the road to the property is a dirt road so we were glad of our 4x4 jeep and would recommend one for anyone holidaying on Alonissos. There are many beautiful walks right from the property, including to the chapel of Ag Anargiri - not to be missed. We went night snorkelling & the sea was alive with phosphorescence, an absolutely magical experience. It is only a 15 minute drive into the main town or to Chora for shopping and tavernas, though I guarantee you won't want to miss a minute of the tranquillity and amazing views at the property. We were lucky to have the place to ourselves as there was nobody in the main house. However, it would be ideal for a big family holiday occupying both properties. I had wanted to stay at this property for years, & when the oppotunity arose, it didn't disappoint in any way. My only reservation is that I would like to keep it as my personal secret! The owner and her representatives on the island couldn't have been more friendly & helpful.
