My family goes up to the Saugatuck area every New Year's. Roger's home was perfectly located in a quiet association of homes with easy access to a private beach on Lake Michigan. We enjoyed walking in the evening and the creek for the kids to play in. Roger was easy to work with and very accommodating. I had relatives from out of town that arrived early. Roger was gracious enough to allow them to check in early before my family arrived. Saugatuck was 8 minutes away. Great family vacation!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Five BR House By The Beach: A Rare Find

We have a large crowd (10-12 adults) and have had great difficulty finding a 5 BR house, one block from the beach, and close to Saugatuck--THAT IS AFFORDABLE. This is the place for a large group that doesnt want to be altogether every minute. It is almost like two houses--a complete kitchen and living area upstairs and another one downstairs. The beach is one block away; nice walk and sparsly populated beach area so lots of privacy. Plus all the attractions that Saugatuck has to offer. We found this place 3 years ago and have rented it for a week every summer since then. We have it booked for next summer also.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

This property is one of the finest we have gathered our family at. It was/is most conducive to quiet peaceful retreats for family or groups. The home was easy to find, very clean and well kept. The owner was most helpful with directions, recommendations of places to shop, dine, and recreate. We found the trees and fire pit very nostalgic and heart warming during the pleasently cool fall eveings, the children loved roasting marshmellows and creating "smores" and adventuring to the onsite creek. We enjoyed it immensely and plan to return many times in the future. Thankyou for a wonderful place to retreat to from the "busyness of life". We left refreshed and recharged.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, age 55+.

We had a great time at Roger's home for our annual FamilyFest adventure. The home is conviently located to berry farms, Saugatuck and antique shopping locations and an array of wonderful dinning options. You will find everything you will need for your day at the beach, just a short walk away, including beach chairs, towels and even a bucket for the sand castles. The kitchen is well stocked and the home is nicely decorated. We are already planning a "Big Chill" weekend at the home with some lifelong friends.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for the review, my goal is for guests have a very enjoyable stay.

Our time in this home last week went very well. The property was wonderful. The home is nestled in a wooded area that afforded a lot of privacy. The home is a short walk to the private association beach. We left our beach gear down by the water every night. The neighbors in the association are very friendly. The home is very well equipped. We love to cook and it was great to find all the pots and pans needed to put on a great meal. The beds were comfortable. The room down stairs with the larger TV became London 2012 Olympics central. There was ample space to host family from Chicago. We would recommend this property to family and friends. The home is perfectly located between Saugatuck and South Haven. Members of our group loved heading into town for shopping or lunch.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

Home is beautifully appointed for guests. Very clean, two kitchens, high-end linens, etc. Excellent, secluded location in the woods and easy walk to the beach. Yet close enough to restaurants, golf, wineries, and many attractions. Glenn's little party store had the essentials and the cafe had good food. We were lucky to be there when the Fire Dept. had one of their famous buckwheat pancake breakfasts, delicious ! Glenn in noted as the "Pancake Town" ( Interesting story about the towns hospitality during a winter blizzard and stranded folks being fed pancakes). We hope to stay here again, year after year.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

This house has been set up with guests in mind. The kitchen was fully functional, the layout was extremely conducive to many guests. We booked this for a small New Year's retreat and it proved tranquil and cozy. It was a short walk from the beach and though we went in the winter, the beach was still beautiful. I definitely would rent the house again or recommend it to others. The owner Roger was helpful and responded promptly to my inquiries. Great Home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

We had a great week this summer! The house was large enough for all of us to hang out and relax in our own space - an outdoor deck, screened in porch, downstairs living room, upstairs living space, and den with closable pocket doors - plenty of separate spaces for the kids to spread out, watch television, or play cards. But small enough for all of us to experience a true family vacation. There was lots to do for the entire family - quick walk to the beach, pick your own blueberries, a cruise out of the Saugatuck channel to Lake Michigan, restaurants to see the boats sail by, covered picnic table by the lake, mini-golf for the kids (my 5-year old got his first hole-in-one), public parks/playgrounds, and an ice-cream parlor 3 minutes away. Both the indoor and outdoor deck staircases had a gate at the top to prevent young children from going down unattended, and all three TVs had DVD players for videos. Two kitchens (plus a grill on the deck) for large meal preparation. The home lives up to the pictures. It was clean and well-maintained. Oh, and when we got there late in the evening our first night, a quick call to the owner resulted in a wonderful dinner recommendation. It was a very enjoyable experience from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Whether you want to just relax in a wooded setting by the beach, or if you want to have some experiences you just don't get in the city, I would highly recommend this Wyhoco property as a place to experience an outstanding summer vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We loved this place! We stayed for 2 weeks and on various days of our stay we had anywhere between 4 and 12 people staying with us. There was was plenty of room! It is perfectly located in a wooded setting. We had a fire in the firepit in the back yard almost every night. We were at the beach almost every day. We saw deer in the back yard. Unlike city life, there were trees separating us from the neighbors. We loved that there were 2 kitchens. On a few of the days, we did indeed need both kitchens, and certainly needed both refrigerators! We had a couple maintenance mishaps at the house, and the owner was very responsive and had a maintenance man there very quickly. It was not disruptive at all, and things were fixed promptly. My only negative about this home is that the closet in the master bedroom was locked and we were not allowed to use it. There were a couple of rods for hanging clothes between pieces of furniture, but they did not stay in place or hold the clothes we had there for a 2 week stay; they did not work. We were there for our wedding. We really could have used the closet space! But we worked around it good enough. We plan to rent this place an a regular bases for anniversaries! :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.

About the owner: I have lived in Chicago since 1969 so I very much enjoy the peace and serenity that Wyhoco offers. Love to wake up to the sounds of birds rather than traffic or sirens. After spending a week here I realized it was therapeutic for me to get here as often as possible. Enjoy going for long walks with my dog Tucker, either in the woods or along the beach.
Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck:
In 1999 I had the opportunity to spend a vacation in this area and fell in love with the people and the places. I visit and vacation as often as my schedule allows and enjoy the peace and serenity of a location in the woods and beside Lake Michigan. Was certain other vacationers would also find the setting a place they would like to return to often. This location allows me to decompress and feel rested when I return to my home.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home is a 3-5 minute walk to Lake Michigan beach, 1 minute to the woods. 3 minute drive to a Party Store, a restaurant. 10 minute drive to Saugatuck or South Haven. Plenty of places to walk off the beaten path. Nature lovers paradise, deer, birds and other wildlife abound.
