Why the Owner Chose Saugatuck
In 1999 I had the opportunity to spend a vacation in this area and fell in love with the people and the places. I visit and vacation as often as my schedule allows and enjoy the peace and serenity of a location in the woods and beside Lake Michigan. Was certain other vacationers would also find the setting a place they would like to return to often. This location allows me to decompress and feel rested when I return to my home.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This home is a 3-5 minute walk to Lake Michigan beach, 1 minute to the woods. 3 minute drive to a Party Store, a restaurant. 10 minute drive to Saugatuck or South Haven. Plenty of places to walk off the beaten path. Nature lovers paradise, deer, birds and other wildlife abound.
Owner's Map of Saugatuck
I have lived in Chicago since 1969 so I very much enjoy the peace and serenity that Wyhoco offers. Love to wake up to the sounds of birds rather than traffic or sirens. After spending a week here I realized it was therapeutic for me to get here as often as possible. Enjoy going for long walks with my dog Tucker, either in the woods or along the beach.

Great Place to Stay

Home is beautifully appointed for guests. Very clean, two kitchens, high-end linens, etc. Excellent, secluded location in the woods and easy walk to the beach. Yet close enough to restaurants, golf, wineries, and many attractions. Glenn's little party store had the essentials and the cafe had good food. We were lucky to be there when the Fire Dept. had one of their famous buckwheat pancake breakfasts, delicious ! Glenn in noted as the "Pancake Town" ( Interesting story about the towns hospitality during a winter blizzard and stranded folks being fed pancakes). We hope to stay here again, year after year.

Excellent Retreat House

This house has been set up with guests in mind. The kitchen was fully functional, the layout was extremely conducive to many guests. We booked this for a small New Year's retreat and it proved tranquil and cozy. It was a short walk from the beach and though we went in the winter, the beach was still beautiful. I definitely would rent the house again or recommend it to others. The owner Roger was helpful and responded promptly to my inquiries. Great Home.

We had a great week this summer! The house was large enough for all of us to hang out and relax in our own space - an outdoor deck, screened in porch, downstairs living room, upstairs living space, and den with closable pocket doors - plenty of separate spaces for the kids to spread out, watch television, or play cards. But small enough for all of us to experience a true family vacation. There was lots to do for the entire family - quick walk to the beach, pick your own blueberries, a cruise out of the Saugatuck channel to Lake Michigan, restaurants to see the boats sail by, covered picnic table by the lake, mini-golf for the kids (my 5-year old got his first hole-in-one), public parks/playgrounds, and an ice-cream parlor 3 minutes away. Both the indoor and outdoor deck staircases had a gate at the top to prevent young children from going down unattended, and all three TVs had DVD players for videos. Two kitchens (plus a grill on the deck) for large meal preparation. The home lives up to the pictures. It was clean and well-maintained. Oh, and when we got there late in the evening our first night, a quick call to the owner resulted in a wonderful dinner recommendation. It was a very enjoyable experience from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Whether you want to just relax in a wooded setting by the beach, or if you want to have some experiences you just don't get in the city, I would highly recommend this Wyhoco property as a place to experience an outstanding summer vacation.

We loved this place! We stayed for 2 weeks and on various days of our stay we had anywhere between 4 and 12 people staying with us. There was was plenty of room! It is perfectly located in a wooded setting. We had a fire in the firepit in the back yard almost every night. We were at the beach almost every day. We saw deer in the back yard. Unlike city life, there were trees separating us from the neighbors. We loved that there were 2 kitchens. On a few of the days, we did indeed need both kitchens, and certainly needed both refrigerators! We had a couple maintenance mishaps at the house, and the owner was very responsive and had a maintenance man there very quickly. It was not disruptive at all, and things were fixed promptly. My only negative about this home is that the closet in the master bedroom was locked and we were not allowed to use it. There were a couple of rods for hanging clothes between pieces of furniture, but they did not stay in place or hold the clothes we had there for a 2 week stay; they did not work. We were there for our wedding. We really could have used the closet space! But we worked around it good enough. We plan to rent this place an a regular bases for anniversaries! :)

A wonderful home nestled in a quiet wooded setting within a very short walk to the beach and a quick drive to South Haven and Saugatuck. It was exactly what my wife, 4 kids and our dog needed to escape on an October fall weekend. We highly recommend this house and its owner.
