Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
Hi, we are Jane & Robert. We've been coming to Southern Utah regularly since 1996 and we just love it. We've traveled across the the U.S. and Overseas and it is hard to find anything as beautiful as this area.
We bought our place in 2005 and spent a lot of time and effort turning it into a unique, one-of-a-kind getaway in the middle of a peaceful boutique orchard. (As of July 2009, our organic fruit is served in fine cuisine at the Las Vegas restaurants of Mario Batali, one of the world's great chefs.)
Everyone who has visited The Orchard loves it and hates leaving. And isn't that the point of a vacation, to fall in love with your surroundings?
We go out of our way to ensure that our guests have a terrific experience including little things like providing complimentary jars of exquisite jam made from our organic apricots, figs, plums and other fruit.
Come to Southern Utah. Relax at The Orchard. We're confident you'll love it as much as we do!

The orchard was beautiful, spacious and quiet. The owners were very helpful and accommodating to our group and made us feel right at home. The location is great for any mountain biking, hiking, dining, etc in the area. Awesome view from the deck in the evening and large hot tub was quite enjoyable. Definitely recommend!

We found the home to be very well appointed with all the necessary items to make a wonderful vacation home. The kitchen was completely furnished with all the necessary equipment and the bed linens were fresh and new. The property was centrally located for a visit to Zion and Bryce Canyons and was convenient to grocery stores and restaurants. The orchard was a nice shaded yard for our pets and it was much appreciated that we could bring them to our "family reunion". Thank you for your lovely home - you are terrific hosts.

A welcoming home for 4 tired and hot travellers: 2 little dogs and 2 friends. We found the spaciousness and cool quiet lovely, the proximity to Zion National Park fabulous. The beds were firm and comfortable and the house was well stocked. Here's what we both felt deserved attention: couches and chairs in livingroom needed restuffing...we sank and sank into them. Secondly, the gardner watered the ample garden for many, many hours...so the garden was too soaked for us to enjoy....when he came again to water and really clean and sweep around the property it was the day before the owners were returning...too late for us to see and enjoy the property really spruced up. Timing is everything. But we enjoyed our stay and will remember La Verkin fondly.
Owner response:Thank you so much for the useful feedback! And you're right about "timing is everything" because we've been planning to replace the living room furniture and aimed to have it done prior to your stay. We hope you'll accept our sincere apology for not getting it done in time. Regarding the over-watering by the yard maintenance man, again, we extend our sincere apology for that. Please note that in October we are replacing the entire irrigation system with a new timer-based system (versus the existing manual valve system) so that what you experienced won't happen again. Thank you again for your feedback!

From the start, it was clear that the owner's descriptions (both verbal & pictorial) of -- and directions to -- "The Orchard" were accurate and complete. The minute we walked in the front door and did a walk-through, it was even more obvious that "The Orchard" would very easily and comfortably accommodate our large group, whose ages ranged from 15 to 76. Every room was fully and attractively furnished, and, frankly, I would kill for a kitchen like The Orchard's! We also found it very helpful to have the owner's suggestions as to local markets/restaurants. As for the latter, based on the very excellent dinner/service we enjoyed at the Switchback Grille in Springdale, I would recommend it very highly. Of course the majority of our time was spent at Zion, which is an easy drive from The Orchard. Here too there were activities for everyone -- ranging from the gentle to the very strenuous which, again, suited all the assorted physical abilities represented in our group. All in all, everyone was absolutely delighted with this experience and would unreservedly recommend it for others.

My family and I stayed at The Orchard in June this year, we had a wonderful time. The house was very well looked after by the owner. Everything you could possiblilty think of that you need, the owner had already thought of and is already in the house. It was a great place for children and anyone who like birdwatching. The house has a great garden with many fruit and nut trees and also has a wonderful view of the mountain in the distance. I would highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to visit Zion NP or enjoy peace and quite.

This place was an oasis for our 2 families (with offspring 14, 17 and 20). The house was lovely and comfortable (great mattresses), easy to find and well stocked. It was easy to get to Bryce and Zion and we loved coming back to this home away from home. The owners generously left us jam and nuts from the orchard and were readily available by phone. We would happily return.

We all had an excellent time. Enjoyed the fresh apricots off the tree. Wish the trees had been labeled so we would know what else was there. Very relaxing watching the sun come up and set over the mountains from the upstairs deck. The hot tub was well used after hiking. Would reccommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the Zion area.
Owner response:Barb: Thank you for your feedback. We very much appreciate it. We are going to put together a "map" of The Orchard so that future guests will be able to know what each tree is. Guests will be able to walk the yard with the map and easily identify what is what. So, again, thank you Barb!

Robert & Jane, you have a sweet home with beautiful gardens and a mountain view that rivals. I think I sat gazing equally at both from the deck. Thanks for sharing your home, we truely enjoyed it. The kids played ball in the yard and ran through the sprinklers. There was plenty of game playing and book reading as well so thanks for all the extras. Oh! and the plum jam and peach bread were wonderful. Our best to you.
