Vacation cabin for rent located in the heart of Northern California 10 miles West of Chester / Lake Almanor on Highway 36 (about 60 miles from Red Bluff, CA which is off of Interstate 5).
This scenic year-round highway is the dividing line of the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Mountain ranges. This cabin is out in the country between Lassen Park and Chester (about 12 miles to Lake Almanor, about 22 miles to Lassen Park, some great fishing not very far away on the Deer Creek or Feather River).
The main cabin has two bedrooms (1 queen bed, 2 twin beds), 1 1/2 bath with fully equipped kitchen, and satellite TV. It has a small deck in the back overlooking a pond (that sometimes has wild ducks on it). In addition, the cabin has a completely separate attached unit that offers an additional bedroom (1 queen bed), bathroom, sitting area with satellite TV, and mini-fridge / microwave.
There are three rental options:
(1) Main Cabin Only: 2-4 people
(2) Main Cabin with Attached Unit: 4-6 people
(3) Attached Unit Only: 2 people
(Attached Unit has NO Kitchen, but does have bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker)

You have a nice view of a meadow and the mountains from the deck. You may even have deer visiting in the evenings as you sit outside around the fire pit!! The night sky is incredible for stargazers!!

• Mt. Lassen Volcanic Park: 22 miles to Lassen - over 100 miles of hiking trails, lakes, bubbling mud pots, and waterfalls.
• Chester and Lake Almanor: 10 miles to Chester / Lake Almanor area
• The Pacific Crest Trail which runs from Mexico to Canada is just over a mile away from the cabin.

When we first made reservations for the yellow house, we had no idea how fabulous our stay would be. Since our first stay, we have returned three times; again will be returning in September. There are no negatives for renting this lovely, comfortable, immaculate cabin (we have also stayed in the smaller unit: another exceptionally nice experience.) Both units are stocked with all your needs (except for food, actually, coffee and tea are provided.) On another positive note; when you rent from Helga and Walter, the duck pond is an added attraction with entertainment from the ducks, squirrels, and wandering deer. Relaxing in provided lawn chairs, you may view the mountain snow peaks and beautiful open meadow. The place is surrounded by interesting and enjoyable wildlife. In addition, near by fishing and deer hunting is great. We will continue to come back year after year. Helga and Walter are the greatest hosts you could ever find.
