A great place for families. We loved the heated pool, finding agates on the beach and exploring the tide pools. My friend found a bone on the beach that we think might be from the backbone of a whale. It was very short and thick. No time to check it out with the experts at the Hatfield Science Center in Newport. We looked for the eagle from the balcony but didn't see it this time. This is our favorite condo at the Inn. We try to come here several times a year and it is always a treat even when it is stormy. We are looking forward to next time! We recommend this property to friends and relatives (but please don't take it when we want to be here!) We recommend Tidal Raves in Depot Bay; their spinach lobster bisque and sea hawk bread are yummy.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Highlights for Noa were feeding spaghetti and sausage to the gulls & crows on the balcony railing and swimming in the pool. Eran & I both enjoyed the chance to get away and break the routine a bit. Weather was crazy - windy, rainy, sunny, cold, warm - but typical for the Oregon Coast. Made sand castles and dug 'wells' in the sand. Eran visited the seals on the north side of the Otter Crest beach. Saw very low tides so the red and orange starfish were visible clinging to the side of the rocks in the tidepools. What a great weekend! We were in the guest room side (two queen beds in unit 404).Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Seafood & Wine Festival - Enjoyed our weekend at the coast. Survived the Great Tsunami! Tasted and enjoyed some great wines and the company of good friends. Good food was had by all. Did not see any otters this year. The views were, once again, wonderful. Very relaxing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We came for the view. And it was everything we wanted, perfect for the celebration of our 46th anniversary and Michael's birthday. Enjoyed the whales from our deck, the walk in the woods, great seafood. Hope to come back again. God bless.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wonderful relaxing place to escape to. Foggy misty mornings, warm sunny afternoons, the lonesome cry of the seagulls, the gentle roar of the ocean to lull you to sleep, the smell of the fresh salty air. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to leave our day to day cares behind us, and discover one another. Thanks so much for sharing your home and your hospitality.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Came for 1st anniversary and was astounded by the view - the tram to the beach (oh the steps!) and walking & holding hands. This is the most beautiful place I've ever been. Thanks for sharing your home . We loved it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had one of the best weekends ever here. Walks on the beach, splashing in the pool, lunch at Mo's and much more. Thank you, Larry and Ronnie for your hospitality. Still - we have some plans for tomorrow - lighthouse at Yaquina Head, ice cream and more.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1993
About the owner: Larry and I, married almost half a century ago, shortly after we met in the Peace Corps in West Africa. We both worked in data processing during those exciting years when IBM and the internet became household words. Since retiring, we have enjoyed the richness of being close to several generations of family on both sides. Many of our guests have shared their favorite beach experiences in our guestbook in the condo and we hope you will do that as well.
Why the Owner Chose Otter Rock:
We first visited the Inn at Otter Crest, when Larry was given a free weekend as a prize for bringing in a project on time. We drove down one Friday night in the driving rain and checked in with few expectations. The next morning we awoke to full sun, fresh breezes and a killer view. We took a leisurely walk around the 33 acres of rhododendrons, out on the point where we could look down on dozing sea lions at low tide and then walked down past the pool to the exposed tide pools where black mussels, white barnacles, and orange and purple starfish stick tight to the rocky sides of deep pools. We strolled across the sandy beach and climbed the rock ledges that allowed us to walk right into Devil's Punchbowl in nearby Otter Rock and then climbed up the hill to the promontory that overlooks Devil's Punchbowl. We walked on a winding path around a little park where we sat on top of a sunny picnic table and watched the crashing waves. A short distance to the south we saw surfers waiting for waves to carry them into Beverly Beach. We explored Otter Rock and discovered a shady path that led through a Douglas Fir and Sitka Spruce forest right back to the Inn at Otter Crest close to a duck pond. It was a magical weekend that included a visit to numerous galleries featuring many beautiful items handmade by local Oregon craftsmen sold on the bay front in nearby Newport. We discovered Tidal Raves in nearby Depoe Bay and enjoyed their sumptuous oyster spinach bisque and seahawk bread at a table overlooking the ocean. We were hooked! By Sunday afternoon we had an offer in on unit 405, our own home away from home. We would love to share it with you. I hope you find it as special as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Some of our favorite activities are: Exploring the tide pools. Finding agates on the Otter Crest beach. Flying kites on nearby Beverly Beach. Eating at Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay and for dessert, Tillamook Ice Cream cones at Fuddy Duddy Fudge just across the street. Browsing through the incredible galleries on the bay front in Newport, especially the Wood Gallery and the gallery just past the Whale's Tale Restaurant(vegetarian). Visiting the octopus in the Mark Hatfield Center (free) and all the interesting interactive exhibits there. Exploring the Newport Aquarium with sea birds, otters, seals and the huge tanks of sharks and other ocean fish that you can walk through. The aquarium is expensive but so worthwhile and especially caters to children with colorful displays and sea plants, fish and animals they can touch monitored by docents that explain their behaviors. The exhibits are incredible.
