“An amazing experience in Barbados.”
“An amazing experience in Barbados.”
“An amazing, "like a local" experience in Barbados.” We had a great stay at Camden Nook for our wedding and honeymoon. The house is ideally located on the west coast, north of Holetown. So you are close to all the good restaurants, bars, beaches and so on. From the moment we arrived, we we extremely well taken care of by Rosemary, the housekeper. She was there to greet us upon arrival and was always around when we needed her...and not when we didn't. Her fresh grilled fish lunches and special rum punch were some of the highlights. Not to mention she was especially helpful to my wife and her girlfriends for their preparations on our wedding day. I can say that based on stories from our friends, none of their housekeepers came even close to being as welcoming and efficient. Also, we took Nick, the owner's advice and got in touch with Trident Wines. Moment's after arriving, Emir had us stocked up with any kind of beverage we could possibly need. Also, they supplied the drinks for our wedding and even referred us to an amazing caterer/chef (Cressida Dawson). So simply put, we were able to immediately kick back and enjoy the holiday and the beach - which is right out the door. We felt like locals from the first hour. That's how a holiday should be.

Camden Nook is an absolutely lovely place for a family vacation. We stayed with our extended family and 3 young children and everyone had a wonderful time. The house is well appointed and daily housekeeping ensures lots of relaxation! The beach is beautiful with soft white sand and calm water - perfect for young children. We look forward to staying at Camden Nook again!!!

We have stayed at Camden Nook on many occasions over the past 4 years. We highly recommend this place to all. The house has all the amenities and for creature comforts you could wish for, and highly recommend car rental for Island and restaurant exploration. Very clean and comfortable, especially as wonderful maid, (Rosemary) always keeps it spotless. The beach at the back is great and the water is crystal clear. It is very private, enough so for all-over tanning, but not isolated to the point that you feel completely cut off from the world. It is very SAFE place, and as beautiful as it gets. Swimming is a joy and can get right out without concern. This place is great for groups, families and couples and anything inbetween, We are already booked for this year!! Nick and Michele

Enjoyable Stay but a few corrections to the listing.
Enjoyable Stay but a few corrections to the listing.
We liked the house - in particular a beautiful outdoor seating area. The kitchen was very serviceable and the bedrooms were fantastic. I was surprised that only the bedrooms have A/C so it made cooking a bit of a hot experience. Also the sand had washed away from the beach making it inaccessible. We are told the sand comes back in the winter season. The place was clean. The cleaning lady is there for 4-5 hours every day but is an extremely nice and helpful person. The caretaker does not live on site but was readily available to answer all of our questions by phone. Zaccio's Pizza delivers and is great. Shop at Popular for best food prices. Cooking at home saved us lots of money. We went diving with West Side Scuba and it was fantastic. Don't miss. I would recommend this property to certain people but was really hoping for beach access (the reason I rented this) and didn't get it so my 92 year old father could go out on the beach. I think the listing needs to be changed to reflect this problem.

Manager response: The west coast of Barbados suffered unusually high swells last winter (2012/3) and as a result many of the restaurants suffered damage (Mullins, Lone Star, Sandy Lane etc). The beach is now fully restored however as a precaution for the future we have built steps below the current beach level to give access should this happen again. A/C is installed to all the bedrooms as clearly stated. Should a guest require any additional amenities we will always do our best to arrange them in order to make the stay as fabulous as it can be.
We had a wonderful time at the villa. The beach is calm and wonderful for kids. There is wonderful local culture right at the beach with fishermen hauling their fresh catch of the day. Andrew, the manager, was a gracious host and always available to answer any questions. Rosemary cleaned up beautifully and was very friendly with us and the children. The wifi at the house was a great bonus and so was the magic jack! Please do bring mosquito repellent if you don't like the AC on in your rooms!

This was my second visit to beautiful Barbados and the first with my family. This house has a great location on the beach, half-way between Holetown and Speightstown, and a few doors adjacent to John Moore's Bar, a popular watering hole. Try their rum punch (as well as Rosemary's), you will not be disappointed with either !! The house is a good size for one family, and is modern and well appointed, with air conditioning in the three bedrooms, fans throughout, and a lovely back patio for dining and relaxing. The west coast beach is very calm, and good for snorkeling. Our kids loved it. The owner, Nick, and the manager, Andrew, were very responsive and helpful throughout the planning process and our stay. The maid, Rosemary, is efficient and friendly. She works hard to keep the house clean, and is an excellent cook. There is a lot of fine dining available within a short drive, but we mostly enjoyed shopping for our own groceries and fish, and having Rosemary plan and prepare several meals for us, at some additional charge that we established in advance. Other Barbados highlights: the main fish markets (Bridgetown and Speightstown), St Nicholas Abbey, Crane Beach, Sandy Lane golf, snorkel with Turtles off a glass-bottom boat in Paynes Bay, and the Garrison museum and George Washington's house. There is also a convenient bus route on the street. Looking back, this was one of the best family vacations ever, we miss Barbados and can't wait to return !

So fortunate to have celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at charming Camden Nook! We were married in Barbados so a very special return trip for us. We carefully researched various accommodations and Camden Nook clearly stood out and captured our hearts! Very clean and thoughtfully decorated home complete with all necessary amenities with magnificent views of sea/sunsets. Quiet, tranquil, private-like beach is steps away from villa with truly spectacular things to see from one end of beach to other. Swimming in Reeds Bay is heavenly! Andrew, Karene and Rosemary are so attentive to all needs - you haven't experienced life to its fullest until you have indulged in Rosemary's fine Bajan cuisine and her BEST rum punch creation EVER...Enjoyed romantic walks to Mullins Beach restaurant - wonderful lunch/dinner. Highly recommend Rosemary's personal daily fresh fish market selections (walking distance from villa) and let her work her magic villa kitchen- delighful! We cannot wait to return - thank you to the Sawyer's for sharing their wonderful home - a truly unique vacation experience on such a special island! DJ and Jane

About: Celia Sawyer is an influential London interior designer (cool10) and tv celebrity (four rooms), whilst Nick is a prominent director and producer. Although Celia's business is based in London they now live by the sea in Dorset on the south west coast of England with their two children Jack and Lili.
Barbados was the first place that we both wanted a second home. We love the people, food, beaches, warm water and the world class sporting activities such as golf and deep sea fishing. Children love it too, they just swim all day and sleep all night. It is just the most relaxing place to be
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
The house is very close to all the amenities that Holetown has to offer, such as; shops, restaurants etc. Sandy lane and Westmoreland golf courses are only five minutes away, whilst the sea is at the end of the garden. The location is perfect for us, right on the beach, peace and tranquility, but not to far away from where the action is.
