perfect location!

Date of Stay: 10/20/11 Review Submitted: 11/01/11

This is my 4th time to Los Angeles so I know the area well, but I decided to go for something more comfortable than a hotel this time and I'm glad I did. The house is perfect for a long or short stay, its VERY close to a supermarket, shopping, many restaurants and bars, And a short drive from Hollywood blvd, century city & Rodeo Drive. The house was very clean and the bed was comfortable as well, and there was lots of storage for my shopping and luggage! The Kitchen is a great size too it was also great to have the washing machine & dryer. Jenny was very helpful and answered all my questions. I will definitely be staying here again in the near future!!! Lacey, Melbourne - Australia.

Owner response:So glad she had a great time. Thank you for staying us, Lacey. Look forward to seeing you soon! Jenny

Budget - Yes, Romantic - Not!

We stayed for 6 nights between 10 - 16 Oct 2011 Re: Listing description accuracy Location - accurate, handy location, close to bus stops & supermarket. Re: Layout & facilities - inaccurate The place is a one bedroom duplex, it was renovated with seconds and did not look anything like the photos shown. The bathroom is very tiny and not easy to get in and out from the bathtub. The web states that the place is equipped with toilet paper, hair dryer, paper towels and air-conditioning etc (in General section). We got only one roll of toilet paper, a box of tissue for our entire stay. We requested for more supply politely via email, owner's reply was: “We are sorry but we don't provide a hotel service. If you find your necessities, please help yourself.” There was no hair-dryer or air-conditioning, we endured a very hot day with no fans. The hot water system was run by gas (not by computer as the owner claimed). It has a very small shower head with very weak water flow, it was not strong enough to trigger the heater on. Thus, we could only had hot-cold shower every night and I had to wash my hair in cold water. We asked the owner to get it fix by email, she made no reply to us. The place was reasonably clean. There were many labeling around the place telling the guests all the Don'ts. We rented places in London, Paris, SF and Hong Kong before and had never seen anything like that. With the bed, the dining table were shaking and having hot-cold shower every night, I really can't say we had a romantic experience. We sincerely thank the owner for her helpfulness and generosity for letting us to have a late check out. However, if she could extend her hospitality during our entire stay, that would be better. Unfortunately, we didn't experience such hospitality from her. We do thank her for the prompt refund on our deposit through pay pal. In all, we loved the LOCATION. Thus, anyone who is looking for a budget accommodation; needs to use public transport and don't mind having hot-cold showers, this would be perfect for you!

Owner response:Senlie - we are sorry if you had an unpleasant experience. Our amenities are as listed on the web site and are in working order. We do provide an initial set of general supplies (i.e. toilet paper, paper towel, etc.) but renters are responsible to obtain more as necessary. The size of the unit is clearly noted on our website and more detail is noted per room. As you mentioned, the house is conveniently location in the center of West Hollywood and we believe our rates are reasonable based on our location and conveniences. Thank you for mentioning the photos – we will be updating our webpage but we do sometimes alter the space depending on our renters needs. We are going to strive for customer satisfaction more than ever. We appreciate your comments and thank you for staying with us. Jenny

Returning guest, it's that nice!

This was my second time staying at this awesome cottage! The location in WeHo can't be beat for anyone looking for great shopping, nightlife, restaraunts and proximity to Beverly Hills! Although we usually walked most places, the available parking pass proved to be an invaluable asset to us as parking would've been a nightmare without it! Other than a slightly smaller-than-ideal bathroom, the cottage was very comfortable with a great kitchen for preparing quick eats, a washer/dryer, and cute living room to unwind. The owner made our stay extremely pleasant and accommodating - this cottage will always be my first choice when visiting LA!

A West Hollywood delight

Our stay in West Hollywood was perfect. The owner was welcoming and helpful without being nosey! The house was clean and comfortable. The house was easy to get to after the long flight – an easy escape from LAX! We always found a carpark, the shops were close by-there were some with 24 hour opening. The area around House was bustling with positive activity and lots of good energy. You could walk to the shop at 2:30 am and get something without being worried, but the walk was interesting and fun. So West Hollywood as a place to base your self to explore the LA area was brilliant. . When we got back the to cute house we were always glad- it has a very comfortable atmosphere, the furniture was easy to live with and the internet and cable TV allowed us to stay connected and enjoyed a take-out or home made meal. We were sad to leave-but we will be back!

We enjoyed our stay. The apartment is located close to many conveniences including UCLA which we needed to be close to, and also close to an excellent supermarket and health spas offering daily access for visiting non members. Actual apartment had a nice kitchen and two other nice rooms. Also internet access which we needed. We recommend it highly.

Tiny but adorable, and perfectly located

I've just returned from 3 and a half weeks in LA where I was fortunate enough to stay in this cosy, safe little cottage in West Hollywood. In a sprawling, vast, sometimes impersonal city this cottage was a little oasis. Spick and span and tastefully decorated with hard wood floors and a deliciously comfy but firm bed, it was a delight to come home to at the end of every day. The location is perfect - literally 10 metres from Santa Monica Boulevard, and yet traffic noise isn't a bother. It's also very close to North Robertson Boulevard which has some great shops and cafes, and ten minutes walk in different directions to some excellent supermarkets (Trader Joes, Ralphs, Bristol Farms), and a brand new enormous Pavilions is due to open on July 23, just across the street. I don't drive, so the location was great for me as bus services go up and down Santa Monica all day between downtown and the beaches. If you do drive though Jenny can give you a parking pass for the street. The neighbourhood is very gay-friendly, and quite affluent and so is extremely safe. I walked alone on the streets at 9 or 10pm some nights and there were so many happy people in the cafes and bars - a nice vibe - and I never felt threatened. There's also a great bookshop on Sunset Boulevard just up the hill called Book Soup. Great selection of fiction and non-fiction, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Whether you love or hate LA is down to where you stay in my opinion. I stayed here, and for the most part, I LOVED LA, and my experience was partly due to the cottage and its salubrious location, and the obliging, friendly nature of my landlord, Jenny. She'll help you with anything you need, but she'll also give you your privacy if that's what you want. Enjoy!

You just cannot beat the location and comfort of this home. It is just perfectly located from all the shops, restaruants, and nightlife that West Hollywood has to offer. I enjoyed being able to get out and walk around and feel very comfortable with the area. The other nice feature is that the owner "Jenny" is nearby in case you need anything. It is also perfect for a "quick" LA weekend as the airport LAX is so close. I cannot think of anything that this place does not have. Eric - Fort Lauderdale, FL

Owner response:Eric, thank you so much for staying us. Look forward to seeing you soon!

Best place in West Hollywood

The location is great! The duplex is within easy walking distance to all the best restaurants and clubs on Sunset and Santa Monica Blvd. The rooms are immaculately clean and there is no hassels with the concierge that you get with the local hotels. As a person who has traveled to Europe and enjoyed staying at pensions, this experience was better. If you are going to stay in West Hollywood, I really suggest you stay here

Owner response:Thank you for staying for us. We hope see you again!

I Love L.A.

Date of Stay: 08/17/08 Review Submitted: 08/21/08

My sister and I were visiting Los Angeles for the first time, and wanted to stay close to its wonderful upscale shopping areas, we didn't know we would be so close to Rodeo Drive. We didn't rent a car so we got around by bus. It was about a 10mn bus ride to all the shops in and around Rodeo Drive/Beverly Hills. The weather was perfect so we headed down to Santa Monica Beach and that was only about 30mn and only had to take one bus. Everyone told us we would NEED a car to get around but, we found that the bus stop at the end of the block pretty much got us to were we needed to go. We walked up to The Sunset Strip almost every night we were there for some excellent dinner at the posh restaurants. Since the cottage is in the center of everything, we found that we could go out for a few hours and come back to the cottage to rest and freshen -up, then go back out with out having to travel a very long distance. The only time we had to stay out all day was when we ventured out east to Old Town Pasadena. Jenny was really nice to us and gave us some excellent tips on the areas attractions. My cousin is come to America for the first time and we are planning on staying at Jenny's. Thank you again.

Owner response:Thank you for staying us, Gloria. We look forward to seeing you & your cousin soon.

We really enjoyed our stay. It's convienent to everything we're looking for in West Hollywood. It's clean, quiet and well maintained. Jenny provides excellent customer service and makes you feel "at home". We are already booked for our next two visits. I'd recommend this property to any couple looking for a very nice place without the hotel feel.

Owner response:I am very glad you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to seeing you again soon! Thank you, Diann.

I am from India and had visited the USA, to attend the Graduation Ceremony of my son @ Georgia Tech, Atlanta during early May this year.Having travelled this far, it was only natural to holiday in America for the rest of my vacations.Of all the places I had been to viz.New York, Buffolo/Niagara Falls,Pittsburg,Washington, DC.,sunny California, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, etc., my stay at Los Angeles was indeed memorable.During the entire stay in the US, I have experienced many vacation places from 5 Star Hotels to weekly rentals, Inns, etc.and am happy to say that Jenny's cozy home was indeed the most memorable stay my family and I have had. I have said most in the title description and mean every word! Jenny caps it all! She is a wonderful host and makes the stay very memorable ..the warmth she exuberates is soul satisfying, yet provides all the independence necessary to make one feel the place is "yours"! I carry the fondest memories about my holiday in the US mainly due to this one wonderful experience. Thank u Jenny and wish u and ur home many many years of lively and warm holidayers! Best regards, Venu/Vikas and Kavita

Owner response:Thank you, Venu. I am so grad you enjoyed your first travel in U.S. and grad you felt comfortable to stay the house. I hope I will see you both of you, again.
