Location: Victoria, Vancouver Island, The Islands, British Columbia, Canada View Map
Accommodations: Condominium Loft Townhouse, 1 Bedroom + Den, 2 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)
This 1106 square foot new, modern loft townhouse sits on the very edge of Selkirk Water, which is part of Victoria Harbour, and is just minutes away from downtown Victoria. In summer, the small harbour ferry stops at the nearby dock. Cormorants, ducks, herons, eagles and otters can be seen from the large deck (with gas barbeque) at any time of the year. The rowing club across Selkirk Water is always active.
The neighborhood – the Railyards residential development in Victoria West – is quiet and uncrowded yet within walking distance of downtown Victoria and the inner harbour. A Save-On grocery store, Starbucks, video store, medical clinic, restaurants, a liquor store and more are a 5 minute walk away. Kayak and bicycle rentals are available right next door. Launch your kayak from the dock just steps away or take the Galloping Goose trail to the inner harbour or up island.
The interior is dramatic, bright and spacious with many double height spaces and windows on 3 sides. There is plenty of room for relaxing, entertaining and working. On the main floor are a large living room and dining room, a kitchen with an island counter, a full bathroom with a bath/shower and washer dryer and a large den with a custom made queen sized convertible sofa and a desk. Upstairs are a master bedroom area with a queen sized bed, a study and a bathroom with a large built-in tiled shower.
Linens are 500 thread count hotel quality. Two bathrobes are provided.
The townhouse sits one floor above the ground so it is private and has an unobstructed view of the water.
Interior design of this brand new unit was completed by the architect/owner in late 2008 in a warm, modern style. The living room has a custom made couch and leather club chairs and an electric fireplace built into a full width maple book case.
The contemporary dining table can seat 8. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, utensils and gourmet gadgets and accessories. There is high speed internet service, an LCD television with DVD player and an iPod/iPhone friendly compact stereo with radio. There is WIFI connection to the internet and to the provided printer. The DVD player can play CDs through the TV speakers. There is also a CD player compact sound system in the living room and an LCD television in the loft bedroom.
This is one of the best places in Victoria. It’s like being at a waterfront cottage with all the conveniences of the city at hand and all the natural wonders of the Pacific coast just outside the windows. It’s the perfect retreat whether you come to Victoria to work or vacation.
Suitable for long term rental. Included in the rental is a secure, single car garage.

Architect’s Waterfront Loft Townhouse
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Victoria
We have visited Victoria over many years and bought this property as a weekend/vacation place because of its unique waterfront location and close proximity to downtown Victoria and city amenities.
The Unique Benefits at this Condominium Loft Townhouse
We enjoy watching the wildlife on and around the water and the activity on the water and along the Galloping Goose trail. The rowing club across the water is active virtually 365 days out of the year with kayaks, canoes and war canoes either practicing or in regattas. It's a lovely 20 minute walk along the gorge to the inner harbor and downtown Victoria. There is a great waterside restaurant a 10 minute walk away across the water in the same building as the rowing club. Victoria has some outstanding restaurants, food stores, bakeries and markets along with several wineries not far from the city.
Owner's Map of Victoria
The owners are an architect and a French translator. They are both avid gardeners, travelers and foodies.

Location, location, location! Kayaking, biking, seal & heron watching ... we enjoyed it all. It was so convenient to shopping and we were able to walk most places. Your home is so well equipped, we used your kitchen and grilled seafood. It took awhile for us to locate the bread shop, but it was worth the hunt. The suggestions you gave were so helpful. We have not been “city people” so this was a great experience for us. We thank you for sharing your space with us!

Thank you! We had a fabulous time. Your condo is so well equipped, which certainly made our stay more enjoyable! We haven’t travelled to Victoria in years, so we took in a lot of the tourist attractions – wineries (the Ortega from Marley Winery was excellent!) and Fisherman’s Wharf (Barb’s Fish & Chips is definitely worth a visit and we also recommend picking up some fresh fish from the local fishermman...we had a feast of crabs and mussels that was delicious!). La Piola is a great little Italian restaurant a few km’s from here. Not a tourist in site and excellent food & service! Thank you for being such wonderful hosts! We hope to be back again someday soon.

We had a wonderful time, thank you Ann & Phil. You helped us make these holidays very special. Thanks to your wonderful place I was able to work on my dissertation and enjoy Victoria. Sebastian discovered the place and fell in love with Vancouver Island like I did 10 years ago. Thanks again for everything.
