As soon as you arrive, the location, amenities and charm of this cozy (1000 sq. ft) 1787 farmhouse sets the stage for your relaxing time in the country. Whether you need an outpost to explore the treasures of the historic Hudson Valley or a place to slow down and enjoy time, this cottage possesses the modern amenities wrapped in timeless charm. Minutes from the center of Rhinebeck, it is conveniently located to everything, day trips to Olana and antiquing in Hudson to a lunch at the CIA and a tour of FDR and the many historic mansions on the Hudson River. An easy distance from the Taconic Parkway, La Petite Maison makes visiting Omega or the kids at Bard, all the wonderful shopping and restaurants in Rhinebeck and the surrounding towns convenient. We are within walking distance from Rhinebeck Tennis club and the Performing Arts Center. Lose yourself in the country and stay connected with Wifi.
The cottage is best described as a tastefully renovated classic American farmhouse with a touch of France. It seamlessly drifts between toile and American chestnut wide plank floors. The brand new bathroom affords a soak in the claw foot tub with european style handheld shower, while you peek out the windows at the wildlife in the gardens. Wide plank floors, plastered walls, vaulted ceiling and herbs out of the kitchen garden, the newly renovated kitchen invites the chef in all of us to create dishes to inspire. Enjoy dining al fresco on the blue stone patio just off the kitchen. The house is just right for curling around a good book as the fire crackles in the wood stove. With views of two ponds and streams with bridges, the outside spills into the house from a private garden for relaxing to fresh cut flowers in the rooms. We invite you to enjoy the thoughtful stocked kitchen, 700 count linens, and robes and fluffy towels.
The layout of the house is as follows: downstairs there is a full size bed in the small bedroom off of the front room. Upstairs are two bedrooms, you have to walk through one to get to the other one so it is ideal for families traveling with small children, this allows you to be side by side in rooms. We have a toddler bed in one room and king size bed in the other (the king can also convert into 2 twins). Also downstairs in the front room is a sleeper sofa, queen size.

Jennifer and Joe, Thank you for the fine accomadations at Le Petite Maison. Chris took his 1st bubble bath with Mr Bubbles, and now he wants to take one everyday. The wine, chocolates, and fantastic meal at Le Petit Bistro were awesome. And Le Petit Maison was a perfect home-away-from-away on our WE-kend stay. Looking forward to another visit soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Jennifer and Joe, We really enjoyed your house very much. You did a lovely job of restoration, all in good taste. The hurricane and earthquake made this an especially memorable week. Thank you so much for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jennifer & Joe, What a treat it has been staying in your cottage! Coming from the hustle & bustle of NYC to here has been wonderful. We loved cooking in your quaint kitchen. Shopping for local foods along the way. Our nights outside on the patio have been awesome. We saw fox, a huge turkey, deer, chipmonks, fireflies, and hummingbirds, all of which we don't see in Florida! Our visit to Le Petit Bistro was beyond compare, the food, the service was excellent, Joe treated us like old friends. We will recomend this place and hope to be back soon. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent a wonderful few days at La Petite Maison and highly recommend it. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and we enjoyed breakfasting on the patio, soaking in the tub and grilling in the evening. We spent our days hiking in Ferncliffe Forest, playing tennis down the road and visiting the picturesque towns nearby. We also dined at Le Petit Bistro which was fantastic...great food, service and atmosphere. Jenn and Joe are extremely helpful and friendly, and answered all our questions quickly and fully. Thanks very much Jenn...we hope to be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: My wife and I first came to the Hudson Valley so I could attend the Culinary Institute of America, and we fell in love with the area. Jenn worked in the city at Christie's Auction House for five years and I worked at Old Chatham Sheepherding Inn with Melissa Kelly. Seven years ago we bought Le Petit Bistro, a small French bistro in Rhinebeck and started a family, and have 2 sons, Henry and Finley. Avid travelers, gardeners and gourmands, the cottage is accumulation of all three.
Why the Owner Chose Rhinebeck:
This home was never intended to be a vacation rental. Purchased from a family that owned it for generations, it was our first home. It was lovingly renovated and restored, giving it a great mix of coziness and charm.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Taking it easy. It is a perfect home to kick back and enjoy life. Soaking in the claw foot tub, putting another log on the fire and watching the flames, strolling in the backyard with a glass of wine looking at the bluebirds, deer and turkey. The sound of the bullfrogs and trickling stream are amongst our favorite sounds at night.
