Quiet, Cute Apt in Williamsburg-- 10 Mins to Central Manhattan
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
SUNNY, cute attic apartment on the third floor of a freestanding privately-owned 1840s farmhouse. There is one bedroom with a queen bed plus a pull-out sofabed in the living room area, a full kitchen and full bath. Can sleep 4- or 5 in a pinch: please be advised that it is small, so how many people you feel comfortable fitting in is up to you, but it is bigger than a hotel room and has the added privacy of the separate bedroom.
TRANSPORT: The apartment is 30 yards from the subway and to get from our stop, (Grand Street on the L line) to Union Square in Central Manhattan is less than 10 minutes (I timed it!) The subway runs 24 hours.
AREA: It's a very quiet residential block-- a nice place to come back to after Manhattan's hectic pace and noise. Williamsburg is a fun, fashionable area and there is plenty of shopping, good food, and nightlife in the neighborhood. We are always happy to recommend our favorite local spots and provide every guest with a guide to the neighborhood.
KIDS: We love kids!
A HUGE ADVANTAGE over Manhattan: parking is easy to find!
WE PROVIDE: linens, towels, dishes, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pack & play, etc.
FEES: We require a $100 deposit by check or Paypal to hold the reservation, and prefer the rest in cash when guests arrive. The rate is $135 per night in the busy season and $125 per night from January through March. For stays of three days or less there is a $50 cleaning fee. There are no other taxes or extras.
TV: we do NOT have a TV, but we provide free wifi.

I always stay here when I come to visit my daughter & grandkids in Brooklyn. I love how convenient it is to the subway so I can pop into the city to see a show or just roam around the West Village effortlessly. I also LOVE that I have my own place while I am visiting my daughter! It is always kept clean & tidy and has a lot of charm which makes it my home away from home. I don't think I would stay this long if I was in a hotel, nor could I last this long in my daughter's small apartment! I have even had my two grandkids (7 & 9 yr old boys) have sleepovers with me while I am here! So I am very grateful to have found it. Plus it is affordable enough for me to stay for a week at a time. I have been renting this apt. out for a few years now and have always had wonderful interactions with Cassandra. She even clued me into the neighborhood, so now I have begun to wander around Williamsburg a bit too & enjoy the many local shops and treats. I Love this place and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a loving home away from home.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Im writing this because I saw a weird review and I had to respond. My friends and family from Spain stay there every time they come to see me, including my friend's 65 year old mom (who has to be comfortable and does not care how hip the neighborhood is). The apartment is really cute, clean, and cozy, not tiny, friends were there with a new born baby, and a grandmother and had a great time. We have always been so happy there, the owner is very cool and accommodating, would not stay anywhere else in Williamsburg. One block from the L, in Wiliamsburg proper, what else could you possibly want?Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

I stayed here with my two daughters (3.75 yrs old and 9.5 yrs old) and it was so perfect for us. For one, when I travel with my kids, I love to have access to a small kitchen so we can keep some snacks, cereals and juices, etc. We love coming to New York, but anytime near Christmas, the hotels are either completely booked or so crazy expensive it's ridiculous! I'm so glad I checked out VRBO because this place was not only a totally affordable choice but way way better for me and my girls. It felt homey and the owner was super friendly and helpful and gave us loads of insider tips of where to shop at super fun places in the city so we didn't end up at the same old same old. We had to take the train in but this was pretty much my daughters' favorite part of the entire visit. Whenever we come back, I'm not even going to consider a hotel stay again and I'm recommending this place to all my friends: inexpensive, convenient, totally adorable and friendly. Who knew you could get that in New York? Trish, mom of 2 girlsRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children.

We loved the place! Cute, clean, sunny and comfortable. We were very happy that it totally lived up to the photographs, in fact it exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed. The owner is really nice and was responsive to any needs we had. We felt more welcome and at home than we would have in any hotel. She also had a lot of insider tips that no hotel could have provided, so we felt like we had a huge advantage over regular tourists. Plus, we could stay with the whole family without any extra fee - so for us it was a convenient and very cheap way to visit nyc. The place is big enough to comfortably fit 2 parents with up to three children. The private bedroom offers enough space for a couple, and our two children felt very comfortable on the sleep couch. The apt is one block away from the subway, which made it easy for us to come home after an exhausting day of shopping and sightseeing. The neighborhood itself is very hip and trendy with lots of nice cafes and boutiques, so even in walking distance there was a lot to see. We almost felt as if we really lived in New York! Compared to other places i have stayed in before on prior visits to New York, this was by far the nicest and the best deal. We highly recommend it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This apartment was very small, there was 4 of us including 2 teenage kids, definitely not suitable. It's ok for 2 people. The kitchen needed some decent mugs and some updated knives and forks. The plates was old and chipped, maybe some modern inexpensive crockery would be great. The bed linen was very old, needs updating. Also, having a T.V would have been great.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: I'm sorry you felt that way and thank you for your feedback. I will update the crockery and the sheets. Of course, I can't do anything about the size of the apartment, but I have had many guests who had families of four and five here and were very happy with it; I think it's a matter of your level of comfort and how much money you want to save. it has a private bedroom, so i think it does afford more privacy than a hotel room for four would. I do not have a TV, nor do I advertise one. Most people carry their own media with them and we of course have wifi.

The unit was exactly like it is pictured in the ad. The property was clean and well maintained, and the owner Cassandra was very accommodating with my needs re: my arrival and leaving. My flight wasn't until 5 p.m. on what ended up being a chilly drizzly day and she let me keep my items in the building so that I wouldn't have to haul my bags around with me. Cassandra provided the information on how to get to her place, and where to go to get food / coffee, or whatever else you need. She even suggested what car service to use, which I used to the get to JFK, and I loved the service (especially my driver). The property is very close to the L and so it was extremely convenient for getting into main (hip) section of Williamsburg, or Manhattan. The only challenge that I had while staying there was not having a stand up shower, but it was workable. I would have preferred to have TV, and I would be willing to pay a bit more to have TV, however I have a feeling that Cassandra does not have it. The building does have Wifi, which was mandatory for me.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our family, 2 adults and our 9 year old daughter, stayed in the appartment october 2011 for 4 nights. When we arrived late, 1030pm (informed owner before). We waited for 15 minutes before the door was opened, getting rather nervous. Owner was not at home, person who opened the door did not hear the doorbell!! He handed us the key and told us to walk to the top floor!! Appartment was OK, quit small, but OK for the three of us. Kitchen is not much, but we didn't cook, only breakfast. Appartment looked clean, but when I was looking for plates, I found a very old mouldy sandwich in the kitchen cupboard. When I told the owner, her reply was "Oh, I probably forgot to check"..... On the other hand when we went home, we bought too many things and she arranged a bag for us right away, what was very nice. Neighbourhood is nice (specially decorated during Halloween) and subway is around the corner.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
Owner response: I am so sorry about that and I remember it very well because you were very upset and I was mortified myself. I had asked a friend to clean and meet you and that was a mistake. In the past year since you stayed I have learned to find better people to help me whenever I can't do it myself, and I hope that I am always improving my service. It is very important to me to provide a clean, comfortable place to stay. Thanks for your feedback.

We stayed for about a week while renovating our home nearby. (2 Adults, 2 kids, ages 7 & 4). It's the top floor of a beautiful old house. For me the top floor is romantic and made me feel like I was in Paris or something. The place is sunny and bright in the day and quiet at night. Our hosts were always attentive to anything we needed or had a question about. . We're familiar with the neighborhood and we love it. Williamsburg is a great neighborhood and you'll see far more than if you stay in some chain hotel in midtown Manhattan. This is perfectly situated close enough to explore the restaurants, galleries, bike shops and parties nearby and far enough from the overcrowded places. You can't find this kind of space for this kind of price.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Stayed here during the summer for a number of nights, including two nights with our young children. It's ultra-convenient with a subway stop less than a minute away. We spent most of our days in Manhattan, but loved walking around in Brooklyn, too. The neighborhood was terrific--especially loved Fortunato Bros, the bar just down the street, and a bagel shop a few blocks north. Lots of restaurants and coffeeshops etc. Felt safe, if perhaps under-tattooed. Apartment was clean and quiet and despite the heat the air conditioners worked quite well. Bathroom was only downside. Sloped eaves make showering pretty much an impossibility, so you'll need to make do. Small quibble. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat if NY is ever again on the agenda.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children.

Perfect place if you, like us, want to visit Brooklyn and Manhattan: the flat is just a minute walking far from the Subway line that is connecting this two boroughs. The same subway line is also connected to the JFK airport so it was just super for us to stay there! Nice flat, some really cool cafes and shops vegan/vegetarian friendly in the neigbourood, cool owner. And hey, we loved Williamsburg. When will visit again US we'll return here for sure.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
