During a low tide you can head south down the beach and slip around the rocks to explore the many tide pools. Starfish in many colors and Sea Amenones are plentiful. Large chunks of jasper have been known to wash up on shore as well!
Take a beach bag to gather up the agates and sea shells as you walk down the beach to the Bay-Ocean Spit. See the history behind this "Ghost town" that washed into the Sea.
Its an eight mile walk all the way around the Spit...and you will see the Port of Garibaldi on the other side! Pilings on a low tide stick out of the sand in the Bay where the boats used to tie up to bring visitors as early as the 1920' s.
