Welcome to our cabin on the Holy Waters of the Au Sable River that sits on 5 acres of wooded property and offers you everything you could possibly want to escape into the peaceful serenity that Northern Michigan offers. Whether it is FISHING, HIKING, GOLFING, SNOWMOBILING, KAYAKING or simply escaping to a peaceful and relaxing environment, our cabin will suit your needs.
We're located on a prime stretch of the Holy Waters, a "flies only", "catch and release" section nationally recognized by people all over the world. Simply walk out the front door and wade into the river and experience the pleasure of fishing in the world class Au Sable River.
For those of you that enjoy winter sports, the cabin is located inside the snow-belt region of Michigan. The annual snowfall in this region is significant and the snowmobiling you will experience is nothing short of spectacular. We have taken advantage of riding right from the cabin to both the Grayling and Gaylord snowmobile trail systems. The convenience of not having to trailer your snowmobiles to a trailhead is a luxury you can experience while staying in this cabin.
Our cabin is located within minutes from charming downtown Grayling where you can visit the quaint shops and restaurants. Other nearby attractions include Forest Dunes Golf Club which was just ranked #1 public golf course in America (10 minutes), Mackinac Island (85 miles north), Hartwick Pines State Park (15 minutes) Hanson Hills Ski Resort/Park (10 minutes), Gaylord/Traverse City/Lake Michigan/Petoskey and many others.
The cabin offers 3 bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the other two rooms have oversized built in bunk beds. There are also 2 daybeds in the great room. We offer a full kitchen with new appliances. All beds include linens and towels are provided.
We hope you enjoy the cabin as much as we do and hope you are able to create your own memories here.

Despite Little Snow, Perfect Winter Getaway!

We obviously selected the perfect accommodations for our between-the-holidays getaway. We were most grateful to the owner for allowing us to bring our two dogs to vacation with us. They enjoyed it as much if not more than we did! The cabin was comfortable and warm, heated by several wall-mounted space heaters. We enjoyed a great fire in the fireplace every evening with the ample dry firewood that was provided. The cabin was quite clean and the kitchen was well-appointed with everything we needed. A bath mat on the cold tile outside the shower would have been a nice addition but that was a very small detail. We did not mind not being 'connected' with phone, cell signal, cable, TV, etc. However, we did stop in town at the Blockbuster rental box in the supermarket and rented a couple of DVD's (there were none in the cabin) and they were a little difficult to watch on the tiny TV. The secluded setting is absolutely wonderful and we marveled at getting up in the morning to see the river that close outside the front windows. (We decided the Au Sable obviously must not flood!) When we visited there was very little snow. Although this must be disastrous for the local economy, it is what made our vacation so relaxing. We went hiking with the dogs mornings and afternoons at local state parks and forests throughout the area. Our initial plan was to cross-country ski but we came prepared to hike instead due to lack of snow. The woods were absolutely silent with no snarl of snowmobiles to break the peace and we had almost every park to ourselves. What a great relaxing vacation!

Excellent Fly Fishing Cabin

While the photographs posted by the owner accurately depict the cabin, they don't do justice to the wonderful stretch of river upon which it is situated. If you fly fish, you won't find much better water in the upper Midwest. My family and I spent four nights there in mid-July 2010. I was able to quickly slip away to wet a line while they slept in or were engaged in other pursuits. Perfect. The large yard provided a place for the kids to run around and they enjoyed wading in the river which was neither too fast nor too deep. We grabbed a few logs from the firewood stack and enjoyed a fire (complete with smores) our final evening. The cabin appears to have been recently remodeled and is well appointed. With the exception of the master, the bedrooms are quite small. The queen size mattress in our room was comfortable and featured good sheets. I can't comment on the kids' beds. While there is a small analog television, there's no cable or satellite so bring your own DVDs if a video distraction is important. The kitchen is modest with no dishwasher, a small microwave and a marginal selection of pots and pans (we had a tough time finding a pot for boiling ear corn). A charcoal grill is available if you like to BBQ. Unlike some spots in upper Michigan, the water is fairly low in iron and pretty tasty. If I was limited to one criticism, I would suggest that the owner replace the metal shower surround. It certainly distracts from the ambience of the cabin. While it wasn't that important to me, but my wife commented on it. On a vacation geared toward my interests - fishing, canoeing and hiking - I need to keep her happy. While it should go without saying, your car will get dirty driving to this cabin. That's probably a good thing since it suggests you're a little off the grid. The nearest Walmart is 40 miles away. Ahhh... Life is good here.

The cabin was very clean and updated. It was extremely quiet and scenic on the river. Sleeping at night was the best away from the city! The master bed is EXTREMELY comfortable. This cabin has everything you need for a great, relaxing getaway. The owner was very responsive to our rental inquiry and the process was seamless. Thanks for the great time!

Spent a three day weekend to celebrate our 25th wedding and have decided to remain married. Holy miracle water!!! Seriously, the owner was very accommodating of our last minute arrangements, and we couldn't have been happier with the property. Plan to return to enjoy seclusion, comfort, and nature at its best.

Wow! What a lovely property. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed being right on the river in the "River Cottage". The kayaking and fishing was fantastic, as well as the super clean and nicely appointed accommodations.
