Location: Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA (5 Min Manhattan/1 block to subway easy to Laguardia/jfk)

Accommodations:  Apartment, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)

Keywords:  Loft

Our lovely loft is full of charm and light! There is a sunken living room, high ceilings, old warehouse industrial details, 4 piece luxury bathroom with a vintage claw foot tub plus a glass, rainfall shower, pedestal sink and white marble custom tile. There is a queen sized bed complete with over-stuffed down bedding and also a large sofa that can sleep a third person. On top of this, there is a fully equipped kitchen.

This space sleeps 2-3 people.

Williamsburg is a very desirable area in which artists from around the world have chosen to settle. The apartment is only a block off Bedford Avenue (the main strip of cafes and shops) and a short block from the L train which is only one stop from Manhattan (so the East and West Village, SoHo, Chinatown, Lower East Side and Union Square are really easy to access in minutes) .

That is the reason why there are many work/live spaces and recording and art studios. The area is very colorful and is a weekend destination for both native New Yorkers and visitors. In this area there are many bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, wine bars, specialty shops, galleries and night clubs. There are also ample facilities such as supermarkets and laundromats.

McCarren Park is nearby and in the summer there are many outdoor events and concerts. In this park there are children's playgrounds, jogging tracks and tennis courts. On the other side there is Waterfront Park, located along the East River, which has nice views of Manhattan.

Transportation: 1 minute to the L train to Bedford Avenue, the G at Lorimer/metropolitan too. B61 bus to downtown Brooklyn just out the door will take you to PS1, MOMA's long island city branch of the museum of modern art in a historic old schoolhouse...great location for transport.

Owner's Profile

Why the Owner Chose Brooklyn

this is the most desirable location in nyc--lots of sky and light and charm and neighborhood feel, with manhattan so easily accessible that one can pop in and out for a yoga class, meal or a meeting and return in minutes, to a sigh of relief when exiting the train station, confident that youre in a human scaled but vibrant and happening environment once again.

The Unique Benefits of this Apartment

comfort and old world charm in a formerly industrial building with brick and wood and even old water pipes that led to a rooftop water tower still in the loft. comfortable in any season. colorful and unusual-- not your standard new construction or hotel experience.

Genuine Williamsburg...

In contrary to the other person who has written a review I was not expecting hotel service, and I do not care if the cups don't match. The studio is just as charming as in the photos...yet bigger than I expected...and the view! I felt I was having a true williamsburg experience, a block from the subway, one stop from Manhattan...but really, you could hang out in the studio all day and watch people walk down the street if thats what you wanted... and the couple renting out the place were lovely! They did more for us than we expected. When I go back to Brooklyn this is where I want to stay for sure! Katarina McW

Over Promise and Under Deliver

Date of Stay: 06/18/10 Review Submitted: 07/04/10

The location of this loft is wonderful because the subway station so close; it's a hop, skip and a jump to Manhattan. One stop in fact, three quick stops from Union Square. And Wiiliamsburg is gloriously quirky and friendly The loft claims to have a TV and Stereo system and a microwave which were absent although the free internet works well. A cake of soap was provided after we asked for one. The bottle of dishwashing liquid in the kitchen alcove was empty on our arrival and no offer was made to replenish. Two thin bath towels and a thin hand towel were provided. There were two pillows on the bed and bedclothes which the host claimed were organic but looked to us like washed out winter sheets. This was in a heat wave in New York. The duvet was neither downy nor soft but was thin and worn as was the cover. We asked for two extra pillows and the host seemed surprised at this request. The bath mat was tatty. The overall impression was a spare room with somebody's leftover things. To describe the kitchen as fully equipped is to stretch credulity. Nothing seemed purpose bought. Looked like leftovers from home in a spare room. Host only accepts cash which for a 6 night stay is a considerable inconvenience. No door to shower, no holder for shower toiletries. No attempt to change towels or bed linen. We were told to do it ourselves. In a 6 day stay, towels and bed clothes need changing. Altogether certainly not value for money. We subsequently stayed at a marvelous guest house in Chicago which supported our view that this loft was misrepresented. In a word 'makeshift' rather than romantic and we are folks who appreciate quirky and different rather than modern and bland
