Thank you for your interest in our vacation rental. We have a comfortable 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house located at 2403 J St in Eureka. This location is in the center of Eureka only blocks from Henderson Center or a short trip to Downtown and Old Town Eureka. One of the bedrooms in the house has a king size bed while the other has 2 twin beds. Both bedrooms have direct access to the bathroom which has a stall shower. The living room has 4 comfortable leather chairs and a flat screen television with a DVD player. The house has Wi-Fi high speed internet and a small collection of books and DVD’s. In the kitchen you will find a full selection of cooking pots and pans and basic cooking tools to help you out. There are dishes and glassware for 8 guests, even the martini glasses; of course there is a built in microwave oven and dishwasher. In the back yard is a small bistro table and chairs under the tree. In the garage you will find a clothes washer/dryer for your laundry needs and a couple of sets of golf clubs in case you want to try one of our local courses. One car will fit in the garage and there is ample room for additional off street parking. The house was totally renovated in 2007. All electrical and plumbing is new as is the radiant floor heating system, kitchen and bathroom.
Eureka is a city of almost 30,000 located on the Pacific North coast of California. We have an active arts community with a monthly Arts Alive Night on the first Saturday of each month in Old Town, there are also many local art galleries for viewing or purchasing art. Humboldt State University has its own gallery in Old Town on First Street with student and faculty exhibits and out of the area artist shows. There is a wide variety of restaurants to be found in Eureka and we would be happy to give you some ideas of how to choose your meals out. In Henderson Center there is a great local bakery for morning pastries and coffee drinks. Humboldt County has a bounty of outdoor activities to be enjoyed at our local beaches and forest areas.
Eureka is a 4 hour and 45 minute drive north of San Francisco and 120 miles west of Redding. Whether you want to escape the urban population of the Bay Area or the heat of Redding, Eureka is a great choice.

This is a wonderful house centrally located in Eureka. The house is beautifully appointed and maintained. My husband and I loved staying here for a week while we celebrated our daughter's graduation from HSU. The kitchen is much larger than it appears in the photos and has excellent work surfaces and just the right amount of cooking tools, dishes, and utensils. The entire house was impeccably clean upon our arrival. It has a great on-demand water heater and radiant heat in the floors so it was cozy in the cool Humboldt evenings and mornings. It was so nice to have use of the garage because we brought our bikes with us and also used it as a staging area to pack up our daughter's belongings for the long drive to our home in southern CA. The owner, Joe, is the best owner I have worked with on VRBO. He was very professional and timely in his responses and accessible if needed during our stay. Simply put, we loved this house and would definitely recommend it! We loved this rental. The house is very attractive and thoughtfully appointed with everything we could imagine wanting. The location is truly residential with the highway and downtown a few minutes drive. The house is on the corner so if you are bothered by street noise it could be an issue especially in the front (2 bed) bedroom. But we are not that sensitive and were fine in the back (main) bedroom. We felt as if the goal was to design a nice looking and comfortable vacation rental and we really appreciated the care that was taken to make this a reality. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The home is very cozy, well outfitted, and comfortable. Love the radiant heat floors! The property is so centrally located we could get to all the attractions and activities we wanted within 5 minutes; super convenient. The only recommendation I would give the owner is that he should check to be sure the cleaning service he's paying for is giving him what he expects. Personally I expected there not to be "dust bunnies" jumping all over the living room floor, the carpet to be clean and hair free, the bathroom to be spotless (minus hairs in the sink and shower), and all the kitchen cooking surfaces and utensils to be clean and dust free. I believe we probably left the kitchen cleaner than we found it. However, none of that deterred our great stay and we will definitely consider staying in this property again in the future. Thank you for providing such a lovely home for others to relax in and experience a wonderful vacation.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: I am a little shocked by this review, we converted this house to a VRBO almost 4 years ago and have had 100’s of guests use the house, all previous reviews have been positive. I definitely understand the cleaning of the house as it is cleaned by either me or my mother after a guest departs. The days prior to this guest’s arrival we completed a repair to a wall in the living room and repainted the wall when complete, it is possible the repair created some dust in the house that was missed during the clean up, but I know there were no “dust bunnies’ rolling around the living room floor. I do hope that this guest gives us another chance when they return to Eureka sometime, and that prospective guests will read through our many very positive reviews. Thank you, Joe

My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights and found it to be a great place to stay in Eureka. The house was very clean, the king size bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable and everything was in working order. It was great to have a washer and dryer in the garage as well. The owners were very helpful and prompt in communicating with us before and after the stay. We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.

We really enjoyed our 6 week stay in the house on J Street. Looking forward to returning next summer. The house was very comfortable. We found lots of good restaurants in the area. Weather was nice a cool while we were there.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+.
