The Poipu Kai Resort on Kauai's southshore has five condominium complexes and many private homes. Poipu Sands is one of the Resort's condominums, and is situated on 7.5 acres of exceptionally well-maintained tropically-planted property. Poipu Sands is the ONLY Poipu Kai Resort condominium that has direct beach access without crossing active roads. Also, Poipu Sands has the only private tennis court, the largest swimming pool, and the only heated swimming pool in the Resort. Visitors proclaim Poipu Sands "No Ka Oi" ... that is, the #1 condominum in Poipu Kai Resort.
If you decide to stay at the Poipu Sands, why not select a first-floor unit with an awesome view of the ocean at Shipwreck Beach, and of Makawehi Point (just think .. no stairs to haul luggage and groceries up and down, and you don't have to go around to the front door when going back and forth to the pool). And you will want a unit that has maximum cooling from the tradewinds (which limits you to buildings 1 or 5), and one that is reasonably priced (which limits you to building 1). These criteria limits you to six units in Poipu Sands bulding 1 ... and the unit with the best view, best lanai, and just-like-home features is Sands Unit 116 ... which is the one offered in this listing.

Why the Owner Chose Poipu Sands
We vacationed every summer, from 1978 through the 80's, with our boys at our Maui timeshare. We grew to love Hawaii and decided we wanted to spend much of our retirement time in Hawaii. To make sure we could, we purchased our Poipu Sands unit in 1989 so we could have it paid for by the time we retired. Since 2000 we have spent an average of 4-5 months each year "at home" in our unit enjoying retirement on Kauai. Because we live in our unit so much of each year, our unit is equipped and furnished much more completely than most vacation rental properties. We guarantee you will agree you have arrived "home" when you enter our unit for the first time!

We met in high school, married after college, moved to Seattle where we lived for 44 years prior to leaving in 2007 bound for a new home south of San Francisco. We love Kauai, enjoy traveling, and have established "roots" on Kauai's south shore. Fran in particular ... she was enrolled in a hula school where she learned Hawaiian hula, legends, and language; she has been presented with the Hawaiian name "Mahealani" (which means bright spiritual light) by her Kumu Hula identifying her to all Hawaiians as accomplished in hula. Vince was involved with Poipu Sands and Poipu Kai Resort management for years ... Poipu Sands Board for ten years (six as President), and Poipu Kai Board for five years (one as President). If you have questions about the south shore, we will have the answers!
