This wonderful home features a single level floor plan once inside plus a host of amenities that make this a great choice for families or a couple looking for a romantic retreat. An open floor plan spans the length of the house and features a wall of windows showing off great unobstructed Gulf views.
The living area features a comfortable seating area with a Large screen LCD TV/DVD combo, and a dining area open to the kitchen with granite counter tops. Wood floors run thru out the home with travertine floors in the updated bathroom.
Beach Retreat #2 sleeps 5 to 6 comfortably with quality bedding. One bedroom holds a king bed and the other bedroom sleeps 3 easily between the full and twin beds. The living room features a large chair that folds out to a twin bed for a 6th person.
If you need to stay "connected" while at the beach, Beach Retreat #2 has high speed internet access, cable, washer/dryer, and gas grill.
The deck allows you to enjoy sunning, relaxing or watching for dolphins in the Gulf. When you're ready for the beach, it's only steps away!

Why the Owner Chose Sunny Beach
We purchased our little beach bungalow for the great Sunny Beach neighborhood and the proximity to all of the activities and historic district that Galveston offers only minutes from our home. Our Beach Retreat #2 is also known by many repeat guests as Athen's Nest and is perfect for that quiet, romantic getaway. Bring family, friends or just come by yourself to enjoy nature and some "down" time to relax on your own.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home is great for just staying put and relaxing! We absolutely love to watch the ever changing gulf views. The water is clear blue and flat one day and the next it is choppy with large waves. Our home has unobstructed views and a great place to watch for porpoise, shrimping boats, sailing regattas (they sail right past our home), fabulous birds fly over in various formations, shelling, watching people ride down the beach on horseback, beautiful sunrises over the water plus scenic full moons.
If your in the mood for more action, head into historic Galveston for fun restaurant dining, visiting the historic Strand, Moody Gardens, sea turtle exhibit, museums, watch the large ships come into port.....a ton of activity to choose from only minutes from our Beach Retreat #2.
Many remember our Beach Retreat #2 as Athen's Nest and it is perfect for couples and small groups. For larger gatherings, it is perfect to rent with the adjacent Beach Retreat next door (owned by our good neighbor and manager) for additional space. Both homes work perfectly together!

What a fabulous place to stay. We really really enjoyed how gorgeous the views are and how comfortable this beach house is. It was nice and clean and ready to go. The photo's are accurate and this comfortable beach house was just such a pleasure. The deck is very comfortable I really like the table outside for outside dining. The fabulous the sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The kitchen had all the cookware one would need. Just bring your food, and your ready to go. The distance to restaurants and nearby activities is also great since your only a few minutes away from everything you need. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed at this home when it was managed by Castaways. Nothing in Galveston has been as wonderful. I was hoping the house survived Ike. I went by to look at it and found it looking better than ever. The deck off the back was marvelous when we stayed there! The kids found hermit crabs to admire on the beach at sunset and spent hours burying themselves in the sand. Now there is a washer and dryer, I see that is all that was lacking. A must for washing towels and beachwear each day. I am glad we have found how to rent it again, you can bet we will be back.

I have just returned from a week at this house and it was really a comfortable house. All amenities are as stated in the listing. Management company was attentive to needs and answered all questions. Pictures are accurate, very close to the beach. Had a great time and look forward to spending time again soon!

I just wanted to say anyone renting this house know won't be disappointed. The photos on line are exactly as you see them. The first day here we watched dolphins go by from the deck. The house is literally a few feet from the sand. The beds were comfortable which is always a plus in my mind. ( I've been in places where I felt like I was sleeping on a slab of concrete) It's away from the crowds so we were able to relax and enjoy the sounds of the water and the gulls. I enjoyed sitting on the deck at night and feeling the breeze from the water. I will be using this place again.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
