Catch the sunrise - and the sunset! - from the dock behind this pleasant, peaceful home located on a canal off Copano Bay. Situated amid flowering shrubs and breezy trees on a good-sized lot, this two-bed, two-bath home is perfect for that fishing getaway.

The dock is also a deck (a pirate's alley kind of platform with ramp and stairs, partially railed for added safety and accessibility). Tie up your boat, or do a little fishing (there's an underwater green light), or spend your day sunning in the company of ducks and herons and all manner of birds.

The secluded backyard is fenced on three sides. French doors at the back of the house open onto a patio, and the sidewalk leads down to the canal.

Enjoy! The area has plenty to offer, whether you're into fishing, bird watching, wildlife, beach-going, or something cultural.

Back Bay Getaway - Fish, Play, Relax

Year Purchased: 2008

Why the Owner Chose Rockport

We can do everything we like to do in Rockport except hike in the mountains. It's not far from Houston, where we live, and it's close to an aunt of mine who sometimes needs to get away, as well. In fact, we named the placed "Anna's Landing" after her.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The fishing is reportedly awesome, but we don't do that too much. We've got a nice dock, though, great for the boat but PERFECT for simply sunning. It's peaceful. We rest. Our neighbors are delightful. There are many good and fun places to eat. The BIRDS are amazing. There are very nice tennis courts not far away and something like seventeen art galleries within two miles of each other in downtown Rockport. There's sailing, which I like to think about doing . . .

Owner's Map of Rockport

I'm Linda. The gentleman in the picture is my husband, Henry. We've been married three years, and the picture is taken outside our sunroom door. I practice law, and Henry is a custom framer and connoisseur of fine prints. In his spare time, Henry likes to do gardens and photography. I don't have much spare time right now, but I like to read, paint, travel, play tennis, hike in the mountains, watch the birds, visit with my friends, take pictures, go to art galleries . . .

weekend getaway

Our stay was not that great, furniture in living and bedroom very uncomfortable woke up with back aches, the master bedroom had a horrible rotten smell and had found fleas.Could not sit on the patio furniture, it was dirty ,had cobwebs, not enough cooking utensils, no instructions where to turn the fishing dock lights, location of the washer/dryers or how to get to them. It was very peaceful out in the dock, it would be a great place to stay if they had more comfortable bedding and sofas. T V in the bedrooms. The mosquitos were horrible, that was beyond anyone;s control, but it would be nice to have a can of spray on hand, since we had a hard time getting in through the front door because of the mosquitos.

Not overly impressed

I thought this would be a great deal for the reasonable rental rate. I was wrong. The house was cute and clean but the living room furniture was very uncomfortable. The grass hadn't been mowed in some time so we had problems with mosquitos until the lawn was mowed (2 days before we left). We couldn't go out after dark at all unless covered in repellant. The front yard has a lot of uneven turf and a semi buried creosote post close to the driveway and with the tall grass I tripped several times. It's an accident waiting to happen. If the yard was kept mowed, it wouldn't be as much of an issue. Fishing is NOT good in the canal behind this house. If you're looking for a good fishing place, do yourself a favor and rent something on the bay or on a larger canal. This one was very narrow, had a lot of debris and tons of seaweed. Would be good for crabbing though. It might cost a little more to rent something with better waterfront, but it will be well worth it if you like to fish. WiFi modem was down when we got there. I was sent to the property with a new one to install myself (geez I'm on vacation lol). After about an hour underneath their desk with tons of wires all knotted together I realized that the wrong modem was given to me. I called the management office and they sent someone out right away who confirmed it was indeed the wrong modem. That was the last of that. I called them several times but kept getting told they were waiting for the owner to do something about it. I ended up having to cut my vacation two days short since I couldn't work on the proposals I needed to get out while I was there or check any emails (I own a small business). We ended up spending as little time as possible at the house because it was uncomfortable inside and outside and the fishing was non-existent. I don't mean to knock the house or the owners (it's "professionally" managed), but if you get to take as few vacations as I do, then you want something you can enjoy. This was not that place for me.

Owner response:We are very sorry to hear this tenant did not have a relaxed enjoyable stay in this home. During the summer months, even with weekly lawn care, the landscaping can get out of hand. If this is ever the situation at one of our properties we will have it taken care of as quickly as possible if we are notified. Many visitors come to Rockport year round to fish, and depending on the weather and the tides some times are better than others. There have been some nice fish caught from this canal and there has also been times when just the relaxation and memories are all you will find. In regard to WiFi it is available at this home and if there are any issues we will do our best to resolve them or give our tenants other options. If you do have to work while you are here and there is a problem we will help you find a solution so you do not have to cut your vacation short. This is a nice home and the owner has some great rates so families can come and enjoy Rockport ~ I think the key to any good vacation is communication, we cannot resolve issues if we do not know about them.
