Paulele is a beautiful Hawaiian-style home just across the beach road from breathtaking Hanalei Bay! This tasteful and comfortable home has four bedrooms, five baths, a fully-equipped kitchen, and it comes with everything you’ll need for a wonderful visit to this "Old Hawaii" Garden Island paradise.
You’ll enjoy spectacular ocean, mountain, and waterfall views from many areas of the home and the world-renowned Hanalei Point surf break is in full view from the convenience of your front porch! With the short path to the beach just one lot over, you're 100 yards from the bay. There are two identical master suites, each with king beds, walk-in closets, spacious bathrooms, as well as private entrances and lanais. The third bedroom has two twin beds and full bath with tub, while the fourth bedroom has a queen bed, shower bath, and private entrance.
For your comfort and convenience, there is an outdoor bamboo enclosed hot water shower, laundry room, covered shuffleboard court, and covered hammock, as well as horseshoe pits and lots of beach gear (beach towels, mats, chairs, umbrellas, and kids boogie boards). The oceanview dining area seats eight, with five additional stools at the bar and a four chair game table with plenty of games, puzzles, and books. Many guests feel our home to be a destination in itself with so many comfortable areas to spend time.
And best of all, the warm water and beautiful sand beach of Hanalei Bay is just across the street! Generally, the ocean is calm in the summer and surf is bigger in the winter, sometimes reaching ‘big wave’ status. Located within ten minutes of several north shore beaches, you’ll have many options for swimming, surfing, wind and kite surfing, snorkeling, and many other activities. The famous NaPali Coast trail has its main access ten minutes down the road. A short walk from the home is quaint Hanalei town with its many shops and restaurants.
Hanalei Bay is one of Hawaii’s most beautiful and pristine beaches, with only private homes, no hotels or condos, built on the beach. With Paulele, you’ll have the pleasure of walking to the beach any time of day, from the solitude of sunrise to the glory of a Hanalei sunset, while having all the comforts of home. And unlike those in Princeville and other parts of the island who have to drive to the beach at Hanalei, you’re already there! We love our Hanalei home and trust that like guests before you, you will too! For more photos or a virtual tour, see our web site link below. Aloha!

Why the Owner Chose Hanalei
At Paulele, the beach is always just a few steps away any time of day. Whether an early morning stroll, a mid-day swim or surf, or a gorgeous sunset, it's all right out in front of you. If you need groceries or want to treat yourself to a dinner out, no need to get in the car. Just walk into town and it's all there. We love our location for these and many reasons!
The Unique Benefits at this House
We hope you enjoy the activities that we've offered right at Paulele. We love shuffleboard, horseshoes, bocce ball, badminton and croquet, so we have all of them right there for you to enjoy in our fantastic yard. Do you love to read? I do, so you'll find a bookshelf waiting for you. Plenty of deck space, both sunny and covered, for you to relax and a bamboo enclosed hot water shower that we built ourselves are other nice features. And can anyone really get away without internet? It's there if you need it!

Owner's Map of Hanalei
We first fell in love with Kauai during our family's first visit in May, 1992. While my husband insisted we couldn't possibly leave our business for a two week vacation, I planned a week on Napili Bay on Maui and a second week on the South Shore of Kauai. In the middle of that second week, we ventured up to the North Shore. I can still remember the feeling as we first arrived at Hanalei Bay. "Ahh, this is it!" I proclaimed, and, for us, it has remained so.
The beauty of the Bay was so stunning it felt surreal. The lush green mountains were lined with waterfalls and the Bay seemed to stretch on forever. There was hardly anyone on the beach and no hotels down on the Bay. It felt as if we had gone back in time to the 'Old Hawaii' of my dreams. ...Plantation style homes dotting the beachfront with lots of wide open spaces...
By 1996, we knew we would always want to come to Hanalei and we started looking to buy a home. We started renting the home that is now Paulele, but it was not for sale. We looked for 3 years at just about everything that came up for sale in Hanalei, but didn't like anything as much as this house. "We need to trust", I told my husband. "Have faith that if it's meant to be, it will happen".
Well, it did. Without ever going on the market, the previous owners finally succumbed to our persistence and sold us the home in 1999. We named it "Paulele" which means to believe, have faith and trust.
In Hanalei, magic happens. Come visit. We hope you enjoy our home and Hanalei as much as we do.

We have rented many houses in Hawaii on all of the islands but we always come back to Paulele. We recently spent a week there. It was the 4th time we have rented the house. For us, the location is great - close, but not right on the beach. The house is large and the two master bedrooms are large, well appointed and very private. The house has a huge deck, large living/dining area and spacious grounds. Lots of room for people to have quiet conversation, or meet in a large group. We were 8 and never felt crowded. It has everything you need for a great vacation. The views from the deck are great. Hanalei is our favorite stop in Hawaii. No hotels. No large condominiums. Just private homes, a one street kind of funky town and a stunning beach. I am sure we will be back in Hanalei again, and hopefully at Paulele.

What a place. We took our adult children and their spouses to Kauai for our first family vacation in 30 years. We had a fabulous 12 days. Paulele is a wonderful place for a big family for so many reasons. It is beautiful, roomy, well equipped with lots of privacy. The two master suites are at the back of the house and secluded and very private and quiet. The house is so large and the grounds so inviting that we spent more time than usual at the house. We cooked almost every night . Fabulous fish from Dolphin, just a few blocks away. I loved the location of Paulele. We could easily walk to the beach ( 1/2 block) and to town (2 blocks). The town is tiny and inviting, with good restaurants (hanalei Gourmet-- $5 fish tacos on Thurs) and Dolphin--fabulous fish lunches and dinners. And don't miss the farmer's markets every Tues and Sat for the most incredible fresh fruit and veggies you can imagine. The mountains are in view from the rear of the house and make a stunning picture. The bay can be seen from the front lanai where we enjoyed many wonderful evenings, eating dinner and playing games. The house is so well stocked with everything you will need for beach visits: a rolling cooler, tons of beach towels, boogie boards, etc. And the washer and dryer were a godsend to keep up with sandy clothes and towels! I loved that the house was equippped also with all the essentials: TP, paper towels, laundry deterg, dish washer soap, etc. They really have thought of everything to make this wonderful for people who have traveled so far to get here. Kauai is so breathtakingly beautiful, it's beyond description. And Paulele is a perfect location, perfect hosts (Anne was amazing about answering quex, quick responses, and helpful hints), and a real paradise at which to spend a wonderful vacation. We were very grateful that we found such a place for our family vacation. Thank you!

This lovely beach house was a perfect place for our family of 8. We had two 7 year olds and one 9 year old and 5 adults. There were 4 bedrooms and baths that accommodated all of us very nicely + an extra bath! We were about a block away from the beach, plenty of beach towels, boogie boards to take with us. So handy to Hanalei and the wonderful coffee shop we raided each morning. We cooked most of our meals at home just because we were so tired by the end of the day we just wanted to stay 'home' and relax. The owners provided all sorts of valuable information and were readily available should we need them. We would happily rebook this rental again, it was a perfect location, nice layout and very comfortable. The Saturday morning Farmers Market was great fun, I bought a basket I have used for all sorts of things, and a silver ring that I love, oh yes, there was food there, too! Comfortable, clean and lovely owners to work with. Just pack a bathing suit and shorts, that's all you will need, do your grocery shopping along the way from the airport and relax and enjoy.

Paulele House is exactly what my husband and I were looking for in planning a vacation in Hanalei with our 3 kids in their 20's. We all were so happy to be so close to the gorgeous beach of Hanalei Bay. The house is across the street from beach access and literally blocks from shopping and surf board rentals which everyone loved! AND the outside shower had hot water - which was so nice for getting all the sand off. The house was spectacular and perfect for just hanging out and playing games in the evenings. There are tons of areas to sit in the main house so everyone could do what they wanted. The huge deck that surrounds the house makes it perfect for sunset dinners after a day at the beach. The master suites are so private and beautiful and the beds were really comfortable. And everyone loved the shuffle board and hammock AND the huge yard with all kinds of lush greenery and fruit - even huge avocados! Anne and Doug were so great to work with and it is obvious they have put a lot of love into this house! We will be back next year! Thank you!!

What a marvelous time we had in this house. It was the "Perfect Family Vacation." We were 9, (6 adults, 2 children and one infant), spread out over three families. Each family had their own space with the opportunity for privacy. The large common living area gave lots of space to come together for meals or fun activities. We were literally right across the street from the "Most Beautiful Beach In the World" and two blocks from downtown Hanalei. What a great time we had, we would come back in an instant...

We have enjoyed 9 wonderful days at Paulele in beautiful Hanalei. We had considered several other houses when making our travel arrangements, and could not be happier with our choice. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Our family of five had planned to do more sightseeing and other activities while here, but we found that we could not tear ourselves away from beautiful Hanalei Bay. We walked everywhere we went in town, including the wonderful farmer's market, and a short stroll across the street to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We have felt truly spoiled the entire time we've been here. Anne was very gracious and helpful, even calling during our stay to make sure we were happy with Paulele. We highly recommend it and hope to return again.

We just spent two-and-a-half wonderful weeks at Paulele. Having been on the island of Kauai before, we knew we wanted to stay in Hanalei. In this laid-back town, Paulele occupies a perfect location: just a short stroll from the beach, yet still in comfortable walking distance to all the stores and restaurants. The house itself exceeded our expectations. It was very airy, spacious and comfortable. Everything you could ever need or want for your vacation is provided, from beach towels and chairs to board games and books. Our young children especially enjoyed the hammock on the lanai and the basket with legos. I enjoyed picking papayas for breakfast and collecting fresh avocados from the trees in the back yard. If we ever have the opportunity to come back to Kauai, we will definitely stay at Paulele again.

I came to Hanalei for the first time in 1986. Westin had opened up at Lihue and we took a drive. On that drive we found Hanalei Bay. I have been back to Kauai 10 times since and 2 wives later, I introduced Rhoni to Hanalei for the first last week. I had given her a narrative on what was around the corner here and there, but when drove into the driveway at Paulele, she was taken aback. The home is just what you would expect from a caring family who is willing to share a pineapple week in their Hanalei home. Anne, great job. Every morning, we would wake, have our breakfast and head to the beach. Rhoni had never seen sand so fine. The beach, as perfect as it can get, had very few visitors, so it felt like it was our beach and we said aloha to all our new friends that walked by us on 'our' beach. We took a 1 day trip to the other side and immediately new why we were at Hanalei. Rhoni and I had the most romantic, sweetheart week of our lives. Oh yea, I have 2 little girls, 7 and 9, who weren't there for this trip. I definately will be taking the kids next time. Postcards, CJ's, and Bar-cuda were best for dinners, Tahiti Nui for the local crowd and local music, weekend rock and roll didn't cut it with us. Beach all day, cocktails at dusk, outstanding meals, and the relaxing atmosphere of Paulele. It just doesn't get any better than that. I highly recommend Paulele for those who want to experience the true Hanalei and everything around it has to offer. One doesn't have to venture out to have a relaxing time with their loved ones, its right there in front of you. Take it from us, this is truly the way to go.

We can think of no better place to enjoy one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in the world. Your home's location, landscaping, floor plan, and ambience are as close to perfection as a Hanalei sunset. We spent an unforgettable seven days here with our two adult sons and our future daughter-in-law, all of whom were overwhelmed with the charm and utility of Paulele. Aloha and mahalo in a big, big way from the Butler family of San Antonio, Texas. Richard, Tina, Clint , Dustin, and Cheng

The house was fabulous. The overall consensus was that it was the best home we’ve had in 10 years of Hanalei visits. The lanai is terrific and we enjoyed the various sitting areas of the house. We’d love to visit again.
