  This house has it all, great house, great views of bay and mountains, walking distance to beach and town. The house is very well equipped, great beds and linens. All the beach toys you will need. It's great to walk to town and shop or eat dinner, then a short walk back. You can sit on deck and hear the waves crashing. This is just a great location and house.

  We are still talking about our wonderful vacation in Hanalei and our stay at the Paulele House. The house was a perfect for our family of 8 to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. The 4 bedrooms, each with a television, own bath and very comfortable beds, allowed us to enjoy each other without feeling crowded, which could happen when 7 adults and a 7 month old baby spend a week together in one house! The house felt like home, very comfortable and had everything we needed; washer and dryer downstairs, beach chairs, towels and boogie boards to use at the beach. There was even a baby monitor,highchair and pack and play for us to use. The kitchen was centrally located, well equipped and organized. There were 2 refrigerators which really came in handy. We cooked a lot as a family and we have many happy memories cooking together in the kitchen, sitting at the kitchen counter chatting and enjoying each other’s company. The front deck was awesome with a great view of the ocean and tropical surroundings. The house has Wi-Fi so we were able to use our iPods to listen to our playlist and get current surf conditions. We had three vehicles and there was plenty of off-street parking for us to use but we hardly drove anywhere because it was an easy walk to town and to the local restaurants. We could also walk one block down to the beach with our morning coffee which was a wonderful way to start the day. If you want to go to a beautiful place for a relaxing get-a-way, go to the Paulele House in Kauai. You will not be disappointed. We will certainly be back

  Just returned from a trip to Hanalei with a group of 8 friends. We stayed at Paulele House and had a fabulous time. This was my second stay at this house and it will be where I return to for future trips to Hanalei. The house is cozy and well appointed. It is great for a large group with plenty of space for both together time and any need for some personal time. We cooked most every night and found the kitchen to be well stocked and easy to navigate in. We also spent most evenings watching the sky change colors over the bay from the huge lanai with cocktails and munchies (the spicy poke from the dolphin fish market is a must). The location of this house is about as good as it gets, really. An easy 5 minute walk to the heart of Hanalei town and a 3 minute walk to the beach. The rental car pretty much sat in the driveway for a week. Boogie boards, umbrellas, beach chairs, beach towels and plenty of misc beach items were at the house for us to use, more than I would have expected. All dealings with the home owner Anne have been very positive, it is obvious that she cares deeply about this home and Hanalei. Hanalei is amazing and staying here made it a near perfect vacation.

  My wife and I were looking for a place to take a vacation with our four grandchildren, ages 12 to 17. I have traveled to Hawaii dozens of times on business and pleasure trips, but there was just one place we wanted to take the g'kids -- Hanalei. My wife and I stayed in Hanalei years before and we knew that the relaxed small town atmosphere was what we wanted to share with our grandchilden. The next step was finding the perfect house to rent -- there were hours spent reading VRBO listings and reviews but Paulele quickly emerged as the obvious first choice. We quickly established a wonderful rapport with the owners, and by the time we arrived it felt like we were coming to the home of a family friend. We could not have been more happy with the house. It was comfortable and relaxing with enough room for us to pursue our own interests in the evening -- lots of shuffleboard in the evening. Being able to make our own breakfasts, dinners when we did not go into town, and pack lunches let us accomodate everyone's wishes. Great moments: taking the short stroll to the beach in the evening for a swim, snorkeling at Tunnels enough to recognize a resident sea turtle, seeing the kids get up on surfboards in their first lesson, watching them figure out all possible methods of falling or not quite falling off SUP boards in the river (try standing on one foot!), taking the small boat (seating just the 6 of us) up the coast and darting in and out of all the sea caves at least once. Important details: the listing description was accurate, the listing photos were representative, the property was clean and well maintained, we did not have any significant questions or concerns to bring to the owner but I sure they would have have been correctly addressed, I would totally recommend this property to a friend or relative.

  We used our stay at Paulele for a family reunion with the age range from 11 - 55. The house was fabulous with all the bedrooms having their bathrooms. Everyone had their own space but could come together in the oversized open living/kitchen area which allowed for large family style dining both inside and out. The location so close to the beach at Hanalei Bay was fabulous. It is away from the 2 public areas of the beach so it was less crowded and very relaxing. The shuffleboard downstairs was a huge hit for young and old alike. We did have an issue with the refrigerator but homeowner was extremely prompt in fixing the problem. The homeowner - Anne is a pleasure to work with. We could walk in to Hanalei in just minutes, we took a boat tour out of Hanalei Bay along the Napali Coast as well as enjoying hikes, Kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkling at all the beaches along the North Shore. Taking in the sunsets from the St. Regis with a cocktail while overlooking Hanalei is spectacular. We did not want to come home and cannot wait till we have the opportunity to revisit.

  We had an 85-year-old, three in their 20's, and the rest of us in our 50's, and it worked for all of us. We could "retreat" to our private spaces when desired, or stay in the main part of the house to cook, eat, talk, and plan our next adventure. With the beach so very close, it was easy for anyone to go there for a short period of time before or after the family did something together. No major production to get there, no car needed. The 2 master bedrooms are especially nice, although the others are fine too. We liked the amount of deck space for outdoor dining and lounging around. We also liked having a table big enough to accommodate all of us for family dinners. There was a kind of fun bar (Tahiti Nui) with live music every night that was close enough to walk home from when each little group was ready, instead of having to wait for the driver to be ready to head home. The size of Hanalei was perfect for us - enough shopping and restaurants to fill an afternoon or two,but the focus of the town seems to be to provide what you need for a relaxing time of enjoying nature. If you want big noisy crowded resort life, don't go to Hanalei. But if Hanalei sounds like your kind of vacation, this is the perfect house to stay in.

  Paulele jumped out at me when I was looking for a rental in Hanalei. It was described as well located, well equipped, roomy, and comfortable, and it was all of those and more. We were a party of five, including an 18 month old grandson, and even his needs (crib, highchair, etc.) were provided for. We had a "winter" week during which the weather was spectacular, the bugs absent, the beach beautiful. Hanalei simply must be one of the world's most wonderful beaches, and all the strangers we encountered were friendly as could be. We would be delighted to return, turn off the news, take off our shoes, and relax our way through another week. T.M. New York.

• Always a great house

  We have rented many houses in Hawaii on all of the islands but we always come back to Paulele. We recently spent a week there. It was the 4th time we have rented the house. For us, the location is great - close, but not right on the beach. The house is large and the two master bedrooms are large, well appointed and very private. The house has a huge deck, large living/dining area and spacious grounds. Lots of room for people to have quiet conversation, or meet in a large group. We were 8 and never felt crowded. It has everything you need for a great vacation. The views from the deck are great. Hanalei is our favorite stop in Hawaii. No hotels. No large condominiums. Just private homes, a one street kind of funky town and a stunning beach. I am sure we will be back in Hanalei again, and hopefully at Paulele.

  What a place. We took our adult children and their spouses to Kauai for our first family vacation in 30 years. We had a fabulous 12 days. Paulele is a wonderful place for a big family for so many reasons. It is beautiful, roomy, well equipped with lots of privacy. The two master suites are at the back of the house and secluded and very private and quiet. The house is so large and the grounds so inviting that we spent more time than usual at the house. We cooked almost every night . Fabulous fish from Dolphin, just a few blocks away. I loved the location of Paulele. We could easily walk to the beach ( 1/2 block) and to town (2 blocks). The town is tiny and inviting, with good restaurants (hanalei Gourmet-- $5 fish tacos on Thurs) and Dolphin--fabulous fish lunches and dinners. And don't miss the farmer's markets every Tues and Sat for the most incredible fresh fruit and veggies you can imagine. The mountains are in view from the rear of the house and make a stunning picture. The bay can be seen from the front lanai where we enjoyed many wonderful evenings, eating dinner and playing games. The house is so well stocked with everything you will need for beach visits: a rolling cooler, tons of beach towels, boogie boards, etc. And the washer and dryer were a godsend to keep up with sandy clothes and towels! I loved that the house was equippped also with all the essentials: TP, paper towels, laundry deterg, dish washer soap, etc. They really have thought of everything to make this wonderful for people who have traveled so far to get here. Kauai is so breathtakingly beautiful, it's beyond description. And Paulele is a perfect location, perfect hosts (Anne was amazing about answering quex, quick responses, and helpful hints), and a real paradise at which to spend a wonderful vacation. We were very grateful that we found such a place for our family vacation. Thank you!

  This lovely beach house was a perfect place for our family of 8. We had two 7 year olds and one 9 year old and 5 adults. There were 4 bedrooms and baths that accommodated all of us very nicely + an extra bath! We were about a block away from the beach, plenty of beach towels, boogie boards to take with us. So handy to Hanalei and the wonderful coffee shop we raided each morning. We cooked most of our meals at home just because we were so tired by the end of the day we just wanted to stay 'home' and relax. The owners provided all sorts of valuable information and were readily available should we need them. We would happily rebook this rental again, it was a perfect location, nice layout and very comfortable. The Saturday morning Farmers Market was great fun, I bought a basket I have used for all sorts of things, and a silver ring that I love, oh yes, there was food there, too! Comfortable, clean and lovely owners to work with. Just pack a bathing suit and shorts, that's all you will need, do your grocery shopping along the way from the airport and relax and enjoy.
