My wife and her family have been visiting Ogunquit for over 30 years and we could not have found a better place to stay than the Island House. Our week at the house was fabulous! The ocean views from every room in the house, including the very large wrap around porch, are spectacular. Everyone in our group (of seven) loved the house and its location, and it was great for both the adults and kids. The adults in our group spent many afternoons before dinner having a glass of wine on the porch or on the lawn overlooking Perkins Cove. The kids loved the bunk beds in their bedroom and being able to have the internet access throughout the house. Listening to the early morning sounds of lobster boats leaving the Cove or being able to watch the sunrise from our bedroom was fabulous. Shops and restaurants are right around the corner, but seem far away once you drive past the gate up to the house. We loved our time at the Island House and will be back in the future.

Wow what a property and what a setting. We have been visitors of Ogunquit for many years but we have never experienced it the way we did while we were at The Island House. We had the end of Perkins cove to ourselves as the protected residence sits on a hill overlooking the entry to the cove on one side, the Atlantic on the other and Perkins cove on the third side. We ate most of our meals in the local resturants and hardly used our cars expect for grocery shopping. We walked the Marginal Way everyday at different times during the day and evening and we were delighted with the coffee shop 60 yards from our front door. When making our selection we were concerned about space and number of people in our party and I am happy to say for the entire time we were there no one thought they were crowded in anyway. The covered wrap around deck give us plenty of outiside time to sit and watch the lobster and party boats or read or do nothing, the stores and galleries in the cove gave us plenty of window shopping opportunity and our one mile walk to town via the marginal way gave us excercise and the opportunity to experience the magic that occurs when ocean and the coast come together. It was a good reminder for us the beauty there is in nature. The grounds around the house we filled with colorful flowers and plants and out two grandchildren enjoyed playing in the grass and waving to the lobstermen. This vacation will be rembered forever by our family and it will be very hard for me to find a way to beat it the next time we travel together. The views, the house, the ammenities and the owner made this vacation special

What a house! What a location! We had ten adults on our trip. The views of the harbor and the ocean were outstanding. The garden was beautiful. This is a classic New England house with modern ammenities. The food within walking distance is outstanding. We saw a former President arrive by boat and dine on a restaurant terrance for lunch. Watching lobster and other fishing boats going out and coming in from the wrap around porch was a treat. You will be a hero of the group if you book this house.

What an awesome home we just spent our mini vacation in! You couldn't ask for a more relaxed, comfortable home, with more than the comforts of home even! The location was perfect for us who didn't want to go too far, close to the local restaurants, shops, beach, the marginal way and the waterfront. We had a beautiful back yard on the water and the 6 of us spent as much time amidst those beautiful gardens watching the boats go in and out! Every bedroom was perfect with all the amenities you could want. The only thing we didn't like about it was "leaving".. Sure wish we could call it our own! Thanks Ralph, it was awesome!

My wife, Christine, and I wanted to give our family… five children and their various significant others and two grandchildren… a weekend getaway in March, 2010. Christine found the “Home Away” website and, after finding several possibilities, located “The Island House” on Perkin’s Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. Christine’s a Jersey shore girl and, after seeing pictures of Ralph’s house and ocean views, she called him for details. She found Ralph very friendly and accommodating, and she made plans for our family to spend three days there in March. Chris and I arrived on Friday around noon and instantly realized that we had made a good decision. The house was huge, clean, open, and perfect for our getaway. Almost every window provided a great view of the ocean, harbor, or Perkins Cove. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking breakfasts and dinners... no need to bring any utensils from home. The many bedrooms and bathrooms provided ample sleeping room. Radiant heating in the floors made the house warm and cozy. A hot tub on the deck was used every day. Family members arrived at the “House” in stages… some traveling from Boston, some from Burlington, Vermont, others from New Hampshire, and one from New York City. We spent three great days together cooking, playing cards, shopping, walking the Marginal Way, and just hanging out. Our “getaway” with our family in Ralph’s Island House couldn’t have been better. Being homeowners ourselves, Christine and I appreciate the trust Ralph showed in allowing us to use his home. We hope to visit the Island House again next year.

We have traveled extensivelyl, every state and about 15 countries and agreed that this was the best vacation we have ever had. After returning home we thought it had all been a dream it was such a wonderful experience living in the Island House for a week. Next year we are trying for two weeks. The entire property was in every way better than described, from the lobster fresh from the ocean to the sea breeze wafting through the beautifully decorated, spacious rooms and the friendly, helpful townspeople " aaah" if only words could describe it.

The house was perfect, Beautifully decorated with lots of room. Within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. A 20 minutes walk to the center of town where you'll find many more shops and restaurants. The house is located at the end of Perkins Cove in a small gated community. Wonderful veranda and grassy backyard overlooking the entrance to Perkins Cove. The owner gave us helpful information about where to eat, and how to save on buying lobsters from the lobstermen.

This was our first visit to Ogunquit and the Island House was the most perfect place to stay. The property is magnificent, the views incredible, and the house is charming and cozy while being roomy enough for all 6 of us to have our own privacy. It is beautifully decorated, inviting, and extremely well maintained. We especially loved breakfast on the porch every morning. The location couldn't have been better. You are within walking distance to everything but far enough away for it to be quiet and peaceful. The kids enjoyed having the freedom to walk by themselves to the candy and ice cream store. That was a first for me. This was the most relaxing vacation we had ever had and it was more than I expected. I would highly recommend the Island House to families of all ages. We can't wait to go back.

Comfortable home, excellent location in a classy area of Ogunquit. Weather didn't cooperate while we were there which reinforced how important it is to choose such a nice and big property. The kitchen is large and well equipped, you can plan to cook at home, you will love it. Everything I had read in the description was correct and the 6 of us were all pleased with our choice. The owner is very helpful and truly wants you to enjoy your stay. I did make one comment about the sheets and he was very quick in fixing the issue. Yes, it rained but you could walk so easily to the shops and restaurants, to Marginal Way, the beaches and the lovely neighborhoods around. Overall, a great place to stay including a charming garden.

Brougtht family together for a great week at the Island House. Son came in from Ilinois, daughter and her husband from Mexico, and in-laws from NYC. What a great time and the best place to be - so close to everything. We've already decided to return every year. This is becoming a family tradition. Peaceful and positive energy.
