Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1994
Ann started her first vacation rental in 1993 the small town of Arcata, in Northern California. Over the years she expanded to her home on Maui, and another studio in Arcata. Her daughters, Elly and Mary, have helped her design, furnish, decorate and manage her vacation homes. When not working on their vacation homes they enjoy traveling, hiking, backpacking, and rafting. Sharing their vacation homes has been a rewarding experience, with interesting and lively guests from all over the world.
Why the Owner Chose Arcata
Arcata is a lively university town, with Humboldt State bringing through great music and theater shows. There are coffee shops with poetry readings and local music, Brio Bakery with fresh baked goodies on plaza, and it's close to Redwood National Park with beautiful hiking trails through the redwoods. If you take scenic highway 299 east, you can enjoy the sunshine on the Trinity River, and whitewater rafting.

What a treat it was to stay in this house! We could not peel ourselves away from the bayview windows. Nor resist sitting down as a family for a nice homecooked meal out on the patio. Weather it was Ann’s beautifully appointed home or the old small town charm, we felt we were shifted back in time when all things were good! Needless to say we enjoyed our stay and will be coming back soon and bringing friends along.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The house is beautiful! We rented this house for Oyster festival '10. I had 8 people sleeping comfortably. The view is wonderful, the kitchen is huge, and the layout of the house allows privacy for the bedrooms. This is a great place for couples to rent. The house is also perfectly located within walking distance to downtown, campus, community forest and much more! Also Ann was so wonderful to rent from. I recommend this to anyone coming into town for just a weekend or for an extended stay. I didn't want to leave!

This Victorian home is absolutely stunning. It is cozy, clean and very well maintained. Recently renovated with HUGE windows that overlook the bay with a cozy wood burning stove that makes you never want to leave. It has spacious rooms that all posses different personalities & a kitchen that makes you want to start your own cooking show. This home is walking distance to town & located in a very safe neighborhood. There is no better place to stay in Arcata. Especially with Ann, who was a pleasure to get to know during our stay.
