Best of Beachwood!
Why be overlooked by your neighbors or listen to elevator noises? Hate to hear footsteps on your head early or late? Suitcases rolling by your door? Our top floor, back corner unit enjoys maximum privacy, with a beautiful view of the surrounding live oaks and lagoon.
We first visited the AAA four diamond Amelia Island Plantation in 1992, before 'green resorts' or 'ecotourism' had been imagined. The beautiful natural setting and balance of amenities and unspoiled areas kept us coming back. AIP has been awarded Conde Nast's Reader's Choice Award as well as the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Green Lodging Designation. We often stay without using our car, either walking just across the street and down the boardwalk to the ocean-easy to use a stroller-and biking or catching the tram to get around the 1350 acre resort. From Easter Vacation to the height of summer, it never feels crowded, and there are so many different things to do that even our 18 and 19 year old sons love to visit and spend family time.
Our unit is cozy and comfortable, nicely decorated, but not so fussy that it can't be enjoyed by families with children. The layout maximizes privacy, and 1200 square feet give everyone room to relax without being on top of each other.
We enjoy cooking, so the kitchen is well-stocked, and Harris-Teeter is less than 5 miles down the road.
The top floor, back corner of the building location of our unit guarantees a maximum of privacy with a minimum of noise. We have access to the elevator, without being able to hear elevator noises.
The building's pool is almost always empty, and a great place to relax after a day on the beach. Our other favorite spot is our west facing balcony at sunset, where we enjoy a glass of wine and observe the birds, raccoons ,and other Florida wildlife. You'll never regret any time you spend on Amelia Island.

We enjoyed our stay in this wonderful condo situated in a beautiful setting. We loved looking out on to the tree tops. We loved the peace and quiet. It was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped, and we really appreciated having a washer/dryer in the condo. The owner was very helpful and responded very promptly when we had questions. The DVD player was not working, and the owner replaced it the next day after the maintenance man found that it couldn't be fixed. The walking paths are great and you are within a very short walk to the beach. There is a beautiful pool outside the building. We saw a great blue heron and a great white egret fly in to the lagoon situated about a 5 minute walk from the condo. We enjoyed the restaurants in the Amelia/Fernandino area. There are many attractions in the area - Fort Clinch and Little Talbot State Park were two we visited and enjoyed. My husband was attending a conference at the Ritz Carlton the week were there, and it was only about 10-15 minutes from the condo. It was nice to stay in a place where you could have family with you. I would definitely recommended it to friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time at the condo. We have been going to AIP for 9 years and this was another great vacation. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The condo is exactly as described and very clean. It is very close to the Beach Club and we enjoyed riding our bikes on the trails that lead right to the condo. We will be back!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I found this condo topnotch-- private and well appointed. The setting within Amelia Island Plantation was superb. I have frequented Kiawah, Hilton Head and Jekyll. Amelia combines the best features of them all: for beach time, biking, walking and access to conveniences. The weather and marsh vistas were superb. I'm not a golfer, but the bike paths gave pleasant access to the area. The owner was very helpful with advice about the "amenity card" (which we decided against) and general expectations. I'm looking forward to another visit!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a great Florida getaway! The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean, and well equipped. The kitchen was easy to cook in, as it comes with all of the plates, cups, and cooking pans needed! The dining room area provides a cozy place to eat or socialize, with nice lighting overhead. The balcony attached to the living room is a great place to spend an afternoon reading a book in the sun, and the living room is a fun place to relax and watch tv. It's a convenient walking distance from the beach, which is a really fun place to romp around! The pools all around the area are fun to go to, and the towns provide great entertainment! All in all, a really great vacation, I wish it never had to end! I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a great getaway spot!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About: We are a nature-loving upstate New York family who were lucky enough to stay at the Plantation in the early stages, and found the natural setting and lack of over-development suited our idea of a vacation retreat exactly! Tom is an environmental studies professor at a small college, and Laurel works in health care. Our 3 children, from age 8-19, all have grown up visiting the Plantation, and still love to spend family time there.
Why Amelia Island Plantation:
We love to go to Amelia to get our shot of sun in the mud season, and true heat in the summer. The easy beach access, plus the natural setting, bike and hiking trails, and the way we can enjoy everything the 1350 acre resort has to offer without even using our car appeals to us. We compared many other 'resorts' before buying at Amelia-we kept saying-'Why do we go anywhere else?' The nature walks and truly unspoiled setting offer us the opportunity to bird-watch, swim, fish, hike, look for shark's teeth or migrating butterflies or sea turtles-there's something every season to enjoy that is special.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We like the privacy of our top-floor unit with the easy access to all the facilities. We swim in our quiet unit poolor walk across the street to the ocean. We attend the birding walks with the naturalist, or head out to Walker's Landing by ourselves with the binoculars and a camera. We go to Fort Clinch or the Kingsley Plantation to learn about 'Old Florida', or send an afternoon at Little Talbot State Park, one of the most beautiful beaches in the US, where we have never seen more than 20 people in 3 miles. We watch the tides roll in and out while we body-surf or hunt for shark's teeth-Laurel has 'the eye' and can find one about every 15 minutes on average. We go to the on-site restaurants for excellent cuisine, or shop at Harris Teeter and cook our own dinner.
