Hill Country Ranch Retreat W/ Creek, Pavillion, Pool & Hot Tub
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Dripping Springs
Close proximity to Austin, outstanding live water (creek), dramatic elevation changes, beautiful houses, lovely pool and hot spa, lighted tennis/basketball court and other amenities.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The best part of our visits to the ranch is just sitting by the pool (summer) or fireplace (winter) and taking in the surroundings! There’s nothing quite like just sitting and watching the windmill turn, the Purple Martins fly, or the deer or wild turkey down at the creek. We also love swimming, playing tennis, hiking and canoeing. The kids LOVE playing dodgeball on the tennis court at night under the lights.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the ranch, from swimming in the pool, flying kites in the yard, playing tennis or basketball, or rocking on the porch. We made memories that will last a lifetime and will look back with big smiles and warm hearts to our time on the ranch.
Owner response:I'm glad to have contributed to the big smiles and warm hearts of your family. I'm glad it was such a great trip!

Second visit better than the first (August 2010)!

Maybe it was lower expectations due to the extreme draught and heat but our second visit was truly better than the first. Maybe it was the fact that our group of 15 (8 adults and 7 kids (3-11)) knew how to take maximum advantage of the facilities and didn't waste a moment getting a hook wet or a boat in the water or a basketball game going or taking a plunge in the swimming pool. Yes, it was hot but with so much to do and a breeze almost always coming through the valley it didn't slow us down. Hot? Walk 10 yards and jump in the pool! Thanks for adding the golf flag some of the grandkids are learning the game and we had fun spraying golf balls across the field. Last year we captured the memories in a photo book and are doing the same this year. After reviewing our photos this year I was pleased with all of the smiling faces and knowing that everyone had a fantastic time. When I was asked by my oldest granddaughter if we were going to the same place we stayed last year she jumped with joy when I said yes. Seemingly within minutes after arriving this year we were already talking about coming back for a third visit. I know that there are 15 of us hoping that we can do it again next year. THANKS!
Owner response:WOW! What a fantastic review. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this! I'm so glad your group had another great year. It truly is an amazing place for family reunions. Looking forward to your 3rd visit next year. Hopefully 2012 will be a cooler, wetter year and the creek will be flowing over the dam all summer as it does most years.

Thank you for allowing us to bring our family together to reconnect in the setting of your spacious ranch house and beautiful grounds. We especially enjoyed seeing the buffalo and watching the sunset from the hilltop. The pool was cool and refreshing. Talking in comfort in the pavilion, the porch, or the living room was a joy. In this environment our spirits have been refreshed and our family bonds have been strengthened.
Owner response:Always glad to help families reconnect - especially great families like yours!

Family Reunion

This was a great place to hold our family reunion. We had people fly in from Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Carolina. There were 14 adults and 5 children, ranging in age from 4 months to 92 years. We were a little worried about the 100 degree temperatures, but thankfully there was a lot of wind which saved us. Everyone enjoyed the swimming pool and paddles boats. Thank you for having the pools toys and life jackets for the kids to use. Really enjoyed watching the deer & wild turkeys in the evening and hiking the hills to see the cattle and the sunsets. The little kids had a fun time fishing in the creek and throwing them back. Lots of reminiscing and laughs. It was a wonderful time. Gig 'em Aggies
Owner response:Thanks for posting this great review! We hosted my wife's family's reunion there the very next weekend and also had a blast. The deer and turkey came to the feeder every morning and evening, and the longhorns and buffalo even came down off the hill once. It's amazing how the breeze blows through the valley every day to help make the heat tolerable. Frequent dips in the pool help too. I hope you visit us again sometime!

We stayed at the Ranch over spring break 2011 with two other families from our church. The pictures on the website do not reflect the unbelievable beauty of the property, home, and amenities. We had more room than needed in the home for the 6 adults and 8 children. The house and property had every thing we needed to have great meals and a great time. We really enjoyed the pool, spa, the creek with kayaks and paddle boats, hiking, and the tennis court. We hiked to lookout point for views of the Hill Country sunset...we took some great pictures. The place was perfect when we arrived and the owners made sure we had everything needed to really enjoy the place. The ranch is extremely easy to find and close to the highway for access. The town of Dripping Springs is right around the corner for shopping. We had a blast at the Ranch and recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful place, plenty of space to roam and endless amount of activities... We will be back! The Charles family - Coppell, Texas
Owner response:I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves! It is indeed a fabulous space to relax with family and friends! See you next year.

Family Getaway

Our family of 15, 8 adults and 7 grandchildren ages 2 - 10 visited for a week in August 2010. To say that all had a fantastic time is an understatement. From early morning walks where we spotted wild turkey and deer; to tennis and games on the tennis courts; to fishing for small perch (essentially just for fun); to kayak/canoe/paddleboat rides; to returning time and again to the swimming pool to cool off; to evening rides up the hill to see the sunset/longhorns/buffalo; to great family meals; to late night poker games; and our daily GPS treasure hunts - everything was close to perfect. It is about as secluded as you can get with the only intrusion being a few unintrusive visits by the foreman doing routine maintenance. We are looking forward to returning and hope everyone's schedule will make it happen again next year. I was concerned that the facility would not justify the expense but my concern proved to be unfounded. No one was ever bored. I was also concerned about the heat but the centrally located swimming pool cooled and rejuvenated as needed. Thanks for the opportunity to have one of our finest family getaways ever!
Owner response:Thanks for the nice review. I'm glad your family made such robust use of the place. I'm interested to learn more about the GPS treasure hunts. Hope to see you again next year!

Pictures Don't Do It Justice

The pictures of this place do not do it justice. When we arrived it took my breath away. Everything was so lush and green and the creek was full. The children loved the paddle boats, canoe and kayak. The lighted tennis court and basketball court were put to great use. The house and guest house are very comfortable, clean and well furnished. We did not want to leave. I would advise going when Texas has had rain and the creek is not dry but you could still enjoy the beautiful pool.
