Wonderful property, very well maintained, great amenities

This is an excellent condo in a very new, clean and well maintained building. The beds are very comfortable and all of the furnishings are quality and feel new. Modern appliances and TVs. The Beach Club is right next door, with a wonderful pool and fitness center. Even though this is not the closest building to the beach, when you are sitting on the large front porch (large enough for the full size outdoor dining table, so you can comfortably eat outside), you have an almost unobstructed view of the beach, so it feels like it's beachfront property. We prepared two full meals while we were there, and I found the kitchen to be well stocked with all the necessary equipment (Seven Seas grocery, about 10 miles east, is well stocked with food and beach supplies and has excellent quality steaks available). The beach is well maintained here, and much cleaner and more private than other areas in Galveston. The owner was very easy to work with and very responsive.

Nice Condo

The condo is as shown in the photos. All beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had just about everything you could need. We enjoyed the patio and had a few meals there. Was nice to eat outside in the ocean breeze. Pool was cleaned the day after we arrived so that was nice. Kid pool area is only about 12-inches deep so kids enjoyed that while parents could relax! We grilled hamburgers one night at the pool. Did not have a flipper in the condo so bring your own bar-b-que tools! AC system was able to cool unit well and did not notice any musty smells like some other condos in the area. It was nice to be away from the crowds and the grocery store nearby did have all we could have needed although we bough some groceries just outside of Galveston. We certainly enjoyed the trip and would definately consider return visits.

My husband, daughter (2 years old) and I stayed at Joan and Alan's condo. We had a great time and we plan to stay there again soon. Joan and Alan are great to work with and their condo is absolutely gorgeous. The only mistake we made was not booking the reservation for longer. Next year we will stay 7 nights. Joan and Alan are so easy to work with and responded quickly to all of our emails. The condo is perfect, just as described, in great condition, clean. My husband, 1 yr old son and I stayed at Joan and Alan's condo. Each day we'd walk down to the beach in the morning, eat lunch back at the condo, then walk to the pool in the afternoon. Both the pool and beach are just steps away, no need to drive once your at the condo. A great grocery 7 Seas Grocery with fresh produce, meat, etc etc, is just down the road if you forget anything. The condo was perfect for our family. The beach was clean, not crowded, only a few other families. We had a great time and we hope to stay there again. Thank you Joan and Alan!

Great last minute vacation!

We booked the condo very last minute. We had never rented from a site like this before so were a bit apprehensive. We had nothing to worry about! The beach villa was perfect. Alan and Joan were easy to work with. The condo was perfect for our family of 4 (a 3 year old and a 5 month old). The beach was a bit of a walk with a 3 year old and all of our gear but the pool was super close. We wish the Beach club restaurant was open but luckily we were able to pick up some quick snacks at the gift shop. We used the beach club grill and reserved a little cabana so we had shade at the pool. My husband and I have decided that this is now going to be "our" place and make this trip an annual one for our family. Thank you, Alan and Joan!

Family Getaway at Pointe West

The Wildes' condo was the perfect place for our recent trip to Galveston. My daughter and I took her 7 year old son and her nephew (my grandsons) for a 4 night stay at Pointe West. There was plenty of room & we loved the great view of the beach. In addition to the beach, we enjoyed the beachside pool and the bayside lazy river pool. We all appreciated the dvds for quiet times in the condo. We found Harrison's 7 Seas Grocery wonderful for last minute things, especially the rib eyes we bought for a steak dinner at the condo. Nate's was a wonderful place for one of our evening meals. Joan and Alan were great to work with before and during the trip. Highly recommended for a fun family getaway!

Perfect beach getaway

We had a wonderful stay over New Year's weekend. Perfect place away from the crowded seawall. The beach in front of the resort has been clean every time I've been and far less crowded than anywhere along the seawall. Alan & Joan's condo was great for our family of 4. Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen well-stocked. We had no issues during our stay and did not use the resort amenities, so I can't comment on those. Working with Joan on booking our stay and instructions for check-in, etc, was a pleasure. I would LOVE to stay again! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Best Vacation Stay Ever

We go to Galveston every summer with kids and elderly mom and this was by far the best place we've ever stayed. It felt like being in a distant resort somewhere exotic rather than just plain old Galveston again. The property was beautiful and the owners were so easy to work with and so accomodating, making sure we had everything we needed in advance of and during our stay. Will definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to several friends and family members. It was great being right next door to the Beach Club and having a real kitchen and 2 full baths, along with such a magnificent view of the beach from the enormous patio. Can't wait to come back!

I and my entire family had an absolute wonderful time, the condo was fantastic, spacious, updated and sparkling with the most beautiful view that we all enjoyed while siiting out on the balcony. The pool at the beach club was such an added plus with the most gorgeous sunset that you can observe while in the pool at the water wall while sipping on refreshing smoothies or fruit daiquaris. We look forward to coming back again next year and are in the process of planning it as I speak. Can't wait until next year!!

Great Stay in the Wilde's Villa at Pointe West

Just returned from a five day stay at Pointe West Resort. Alan and Joan Wilde are excellent to work with in renting their villa. They are very informative and attentive to their guests' needs. Their condo is in an ideal location in regards to the beach club and pool as well as the beach. We were there with our son and his wife and our two grandchildren, ages 4 and 1 1/2. The children's pool was great for the baby and the lazy river pool at the Sunset Beach Club was perfect for all of us! We were surprised on Friday and Saturday evenings when there were movies shown on the buildings across from ours. We could sit out on the balcony and watch movies! We certainly enjoyed our stay in the Wilde's Villa at Pointe West and would stay again.

Joan did a wonderful job communicating and providing any and all information we needed from our first call to her right up through the arrival date. The condo is in a great condition and has an excellent beach view. This condo is about as good as it gets in the entire resort with regards to beach access and the beach club access. The beach club pool is excellent for children and has a good wait staff for lunch, dinner and drinks. The beach is maintained regularly in front the resort which is a big plus considering the sea weed you see along the upper coast. I will recommend this property to friends and plan to stay here again.

Relaxing Weekend

Alan and Joan have a wonderful villa that was just what we were looking for a relaxing weekend. We planned our getaway at the last minute and they were very accommodating with such short notice. We got to relax on the deck and drink our coffee in the morning with a wonderful view of the beach. Access to the beach was quick for my morning runs. The Beach Club was an added bonus. The pool was beautiful and we felt like we were at a resort. We hope to plan many more weekend getaways to relax and would love to stay here again.

The condo was clean, modern and in good repair. Nice view of the ocean. Clubhouse had nice facilities but the restaurant was not open until later in the week. It was everything it was advertised and appeared to be in the pictures. Only downsides to the trip for us had nothing to do with the property. Had teens with us and there were very few other teens around as we were a week later than spring break. Beaches were not as nice as we thought they would be but we have only pacific coast and Caribbean beaches as a reference for comparison. We appreciated Alan and Joan's hospitality they were friendly and accommodating. Thanks Alan and Joan!

My family of 4 stayed at Joan and Allen's wonderful condo over the 2011 Spring Break. The condo was in great shape and met all our needs, it far exceeded our expectations and was a great place to stay. Joan and Allen were excellent to work with and really did a great job of communicating and ensuring that our stay was pleasure. All in the condo and at the beachclub and beach was just as great as they said it would be, no surprises. We enjoyed how close the condo was to the beach, pool, and dining facility. It was also very nice to be far enough away from the main island crowd to further our enjoyment. Point West is a beautiful area with all you need to keep entertained and relaxed. We will be back again - thank you Joan and Allen for a wonderful Spring Break, you are lucky to have such a wonderful place.

Great Stay in Pointe West

My husband and I experienced an absolutely wonderful time during a month's stay in the Wilde's two bedroom villa this past February (2011). We began our day with a walk on the beach followed by quiet reading on the balcony (which faces the gulf) or a trip into Galveston to shop in the historic Strand area, sightsee or enjoy dining at one of the many wonderful restaurants in Galveston. Joan and Allen Wilde were most helpful whenever we had a question or a concern. All the photos and descriptions of the villa on the VRBO website were spot on. We have already encouraged family and friends to come for a visit to Pointe West. We plan on returning!

A little bit of paradise

We spent the month of January at Joan and Alan Wilde's villa on Galveston Island and loved every minute of it. The pictures they have posted on this site tell the story. Greet mornings with coffee on the balcony, watching and listening to the surf. Spend afternoons walking the gorgeous beach, which we had to ourselves many days. (Texans thought January was chilly, but anyone from the Plains for Midwest will know otherwise). Cook up a storm in their well-stocked kitchen and then work it off in the fitness center, which is only steps away. Soak your worries away in the hot tub before you sink into the king-sized bed in the master bedroom. Our adult children and siblings who visited on weekends all wanted to move in. The condo was very clean, the owners were great to work with. You'll find no nasty vacation surprises here - it's as wonderful as it looks.

Having never rented a Condo before we weren't exactly how it worked and what was included. We are now planning on scheduling all our vacations this way. The location of the condo was great - close to the pool and the beach. This was a huge plus for the kids. The beach was wonderful! We drove in to Galveston one day and were especially thankful for the size of Beach we had to play on.

A GREAT place to Stay on Galveston's West End

My family had a wonderful stay at the Wilde's villa. Joan was very pleasant to work with. We had no trouble scheduling Captain Bob an hour later than normal check in time. The villa was very easy to "baby proof" for my 1 year old and 3 year old. We made many meals in the well stocked kitchen. We traveled with our non-perishables and shopped for milk, cheese, etc. at the Kroger's on the island. The main bedroom has a great TV and DVD player. We picked up a few movies at the Redbox at the Valero 8 miles down the road. On our drive home we ate a great lunch at Pirate's Alley 20 minutes away in Surfside. I would highly recommend staying here. The villa is lovely and the facilities are wonderful! Our 3 year old loved picking up seashells on the beach. :)

Just wanted to let you know we had a great time staying at your condo last week. Everything was great. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the Galveston area. If your looking for a quite place to relax and let your kids run around and swim this is it! I think we only saw about 15 people the entire week we were there! We've only been home 2 days, but are already looking forward to coming back next year!

A great escape!

This particular condo on Pointe West was perfectly situated to take in the best of what the resort has to offer. We had great beach views and could hear the surf while lounging on the patio. We were right next to the Beach club where our young kids enjoyed swimming, making crafts, and playing pool and air hockey in the game room. We walked to the nearby fire pit at night where the friendly staff equipped us with all the S'more making essentials! We spent the mornings beachcombing and found an impressive assortment of shells. We were just so pleased overall with the facilities, and the condo had all the comforts one would need for a relaxing getaway. It was a great escape, and we can't wait to escape there again soon! I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay at Pointe West or the accommodations of our condo (Villa 102). The pictures are 100% accurate: neat, clean and well kept. My family of six had plenty of space and utilized it to the fullest! The Beach Club was great as well, great workout equipment, beautiful pool, awesome view of the ocean, etc. I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about it. We utilized the kitchen facilities and also the grills at the Beach Club to the fullest. We were there in the off season (October) and it was extremely quit and we had the place to ourselves (which we loved)! I will utilize Home Away From Home again and would definitely go back to Point West! Also, Joan and Alan Wilde are wonderful people to deal with and you will have a wonderful time utilizing their facility! Thanks Wildes!

Joan and Alan's place is a lovely condo on the beach and they are a great couple to work with. Their condo is very, very clean and very, very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need and it was fun to cook in!! The balcony is a great place to sit and have your morning coffee. Pointe West Beach Club is beautiful and the staff was very nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and believe you will feel like we do --- ready to come back soon!!!

Beautiful Condo, located within steps of gorgeous, breath-taking view of the beach and fabulous pool with waterfalls. Everything we needed in fully stocked kitchen & bathroom. Photos of property are totally accurate, property clean and well maintained. Owner very accomodating and fabulous to answer emails. Not only would i recommend property to others, I will hope that they don't book it too much so we can stay again! Piddly things that I would change if i were owner, would be hooks on bathroom doors for robes, etc and ottoman in LR instead of glass table for foot rest. Only 2 can sit on the couch, one in comfy chair and one chair-not so much. Need to have pitt or larger furniture for movie watching in front of the fabulous television set. O! the deck is amazing with great furniture to lounge and a perfect view of the beach. Can't imagine staying in any other property at Pointe West. Thanks to the owners!!

Loved our vacation at this condo! Everything was as described and more. The condo was well equipped, in excellent condition and very comfortable. The Pointe West resort is the best on the island. This condo is perfect for families. It has great swimming pools, including shallow pools for toddlers. The beach is big and clean. Everything was so close to the condo....steps away, literally! This couple is very easy to work with and take pride in their property and it shows. She even called to check on us while we were there! I recommend picking up groceries before you arrive, so you will not have to drive back into Galveston (about 20min) to get them. Once you get to the condo, you won't want to leave.Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

This condo was perfect for our family's first visit to Galveston. What a beautiful beach at Pointe West...not too crowded and very clean. We loved the convenience of the condo to the beach and beach club with the pool. Condo was very comfortable for my husband and I and 2 young kids and the owners were very nice to work with. Great kitchen, I just wish we'd have brought more to cook indoors...We weren't sure where the grills were and they were up by the pool and it wasn't as convenient as we'd hoped. Loved sitting on the balony with the view of the beach. I caught a sunset one night as I was walking upstairs (on the other side from our balcony) and it was so beautiful! Recommend making a point to watch it at least one night!! Don't recommend the restaurant (nice people but very slow and expensive!). We did try Red Snapper Inn down near Surfside beach and it was yummy!

The prior reviews on this property were right on the mark. Close to pool & beach. This is a well run facility and the beach had people, but was not crowded. The owners were fantastic. We had a slight problem with the AC and they fixed it within 24 hours. Did not inconvenience our stay in anyway. Well kept condo with all the amenities. Easy vacation. Chris

We had an absolutely wonderful time here. The villa was perfect in every way from the well-stocked kitchen to the shaded breezy balcony overlooking the ocean. The beach was clean (with the sand appearing groomed each morning) and my grandchildren loved it as much as they did the pool at the Beach Club. We loved the easy walk to the beach as well as having the Beach Club right next door. Joan and Alan were very helpful and available when needed. We look forward to being able to return again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay. It was just what we were looking for....some place where we could relax and enjoy each others company. We especially liked the location of this unit. Very close to the pool and the boardwalk to the beach. Perfect. Another thing we enjoyed was the balcony. The breeze was wonderful and never had sun. You could set there no matter what the time of day. You could see the water and hear the waves from the balcony. Working with Joan and Alan was a great experience. They were always very prompt on returning e-mails and their website accurately described this property. We enjoyed it so much. We can't wait to find a weekend to go back.

We loved our stay at Beach Villa at Pointe West! How wonderful to have a resort in Galveston that is right on the beach instead of on Seawall Road. And the beach wasn't crowded at all -- unlike the beaches in the main part of Galveston. The resort pool area is beautiful and so relaxing. The location of Joan and Allan's condo is one of the best at Pointe West -- very close to the pool and the beach. We enjoyed the sounds of the surf and the gulf-front view from the large balcony. Unlike several of the buildings nearby, Beach Villa's balcony is shaded from the morning sun so we enjoyed sitting outside in the am, as well as in the evenings. The condo had everything we needed and was clean, with beautiful granite countertops in the kitchen. We liked that Joan and Allan responded quickly to our inquiry, and they were very personable providing us with information and wanting us to have a great stay. We definitely recommend this condo, and Pointe West. ( We expected much more of the lazy river than it actually was -- very small and filled with toddlers.)

We truly enjoyed our vacation in Galveston, and I'm very glad we chose this property. The condo is located in the perfect spot, as it is almost next door to the beach club, and within walking distance to the beach (and it is furnished with all the stuff you will need during your stay). The balcony not only has great views of the beach, but also lets you enjoy the nice breeze. Joan and Alan were very helpful if I had questions before the vacation and also once we were in there. We will definitely go again later this year. Look no more, this is the spot to rent!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Best Vacation Ever

We recently stayed in this villa for one week with our two small children. Anyone with small children knows that taking a long vacation can be quite tricky, even complicated. This villa was so accomadating that our entire family was extremely comfortable. Our kids had a wonderful time, plenty of space and all the comforts of home. The proximity to the pool and the beach was perfect and the views were amazing. We loved every minute of this vacation and would highly recommend it to everyone!

Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

Great for Wknd Getaway

My girlfriend and I stayed in the condo for two nights in April and we had a wonderful time. The amenities are nice but we didnt stay in the condo much as we could easily walk to pool or the beach. We would definitely go back. Owners were easy to work with since this was our first visit to Galveston and Pointe West. Thanks Joan and Allan! Tip: you're not supposed to have drinks/food by the pool area (they have a bar you are supposed to use but it closes early). I'd suggest stocking up the room so you don't have to drive the 35 minutes to town. Great place to cook out.

We had a great time at your condo.The condo was very clean and comfortable for our 2 week stay. It is very close to the pool and deck area, both just gorgeous. We could see the gulf of Mexico from the condo's balcony. The walkway to the beach is close and we enjoyed many walks on the beach. The owners, Alan and Joane, couldn't have been more helpful and answered all our questions promptly. The pictures listed are an excellent overview of this rental. We would definitely recommend this condo and Pointe West to family and friends. As Alan and Joan indicate it is a 20 minute drive into Galveston but is is an enjoyable drive along the gulf.

Very nice condo with a great balcony for viewing the beach. Condo was very clean and nicely furnished. Beach club is great. Owners are very helpful and nice. Only drawback is the elevators are not functioning.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner response: Elevator Repaired and functional in March 2010. Due to Hurricane Ike, many elevators were not working.

I had a friend in from Europe and I wanted to show off the best part of Galveston beaches. We had a lovely time at this rental. The balcony has a nice view of the quiet and clean west end beach and the condo has just about everything you need. The Pointe West Beach Club itself is very well done, the staff is friendly, and bc of the time of year we nearly had the whole place to ourselves . If you go over the San Luis bridge ($2 toll each way) and go down a ways to the Red Snapper Inn you will get some great fresh seafood. Booking and check in were hassle free. However, get everything down and packed by 11am or the door code changes and you can't get back in for whatever you may have left.

Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Owner response: All guests are provided with helpful 24/7 phone access to the Villa owner. Assistance is gladly provided to our guests whenever it's needed. A concierge and housekeeper are on call. Late check outs can also be provided when feasible.

This is a great place to get away from it all! It’s very comfortable, great views of the gulf and great location next to the Beach Club with the café and lounge. We had great walks on the trails and spectacular sunsets in the evening! The renters were very friendly and available to answer any questions. I would recommend this rental to friends and family!

We were very fortunate to stay at this condo at Pointe West. The condo was very nice, clean, and large enough for our group of six. The beds were nice and comfortable – even the sofa bed. The condo had everything we needed for our stay. The beach and pools were very easy to access even with three small children; the kids had a great time on the large well kept beaches. We have already recommended this condo to friends and would not hesitate to stay again. The owners were helpful and accommodating. Thanks for the great vacation.

Everything that the pictures depicted were correct, the condo was spotless and had all the amenities, all we needed to bring was our food, It was a very good location with the beach club and beach access very close. The property itself was very well maintained and all the staff at Pointe West were extremely helpful and courteous. In all it was a great weekend and I would not hesitate to recommend very highly for either the weekend or a weeklong vacation. We will definitely go back - the owners were extremely efficient and gave us great customer service. Again, I give the Condo and Pointe West five stars.

We had a great time! The condo was bright and clean. The balcony has a great view of the Gulf and the beach is just a quick walk away. The bed in the master bedroom is super-comfortable. We really enjoyed being on the west side of island. It is quieter than the east end, but not far from the restaurants and attractions on the sea wall side of Galveston. Everyone we worked with (the owners, the concierge, the staff at the Beach Club) were all extremely helpful and courteous. We highly recommend this condo and will return when we can.
