Our secluded guest cabin is right on the water; our two private boat slips are below. We're on the south shore of Colorado's largest natural lake, Grand Lake, and this makes for a perfect lakefront getaway. The original headwaters of the Colorado River, it's all downstream from here. And, at 8367 feet of elevation, you can really say it's a Rocky Mountain High. Breathtaking views of the lake and the Never Summer Range on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park are the background at meal time.
The National Park and miles of trails begin right out the back door of the cabin. You can fish right off the dock or the deck. Bring your boat and tie up at our shared dock and then tour both Grand Lake and adjoining Shadow Mountain Reservoir. There are many good restaurants nearby and, afterwords, you can enjoy an evening at our live summer theater, Rocky Mountain Repertory, or fun with the kids at put put golf.
We're the west gateway to the park and lots of early morning or just before sunset animal viewing - elk, moose are most common.

My husband and I had needlessly put off visiting Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park because of the lacking of lodging within the park. This boathouse more than made up for that shortcoming. We loved being right on the lake and yet away from the crowds. It was great to come "home" after hiking or kayaking, sit on the deck with a glass of wine and watch the evening thunderstorms off in the mountains and the ospreys fishing in the lake. The view from the dining table is better than from any restaurant in town. The cabin is very clean, comfortable and well equipped - just perfect for us. The owner was great to work with as well. Very highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This was our first vacation with our 1yr old and this was a perfect place to stay. All the necessary things were already there. We didn't have to leave our cozy cabin to enjoy great views of the Grand Lake and snow-capped mountains. A private hike starting from the property itself was great too..Owners were very kind and even gave us a boat tour of the Grand Lake. We would certainly recommend this cabin!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My wife and I and 12 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and it's location. It was very clean and comfortable and was outfitted with everything we needed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We work very hard to provide all the things you need so you can spend your time vacationing not shopping. So bring the family, food, beverages and fishing gear and you;re all set.

We had a great week at this wonderful boat house on Grand Lake! The location was perfect for quick, easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park for day hikes and scenic drives. We were able to enjoy all the beauty and fun of the Colorado Rockies - hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, rafting, fishing, wildlife watching, etc. The house was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable, including the sofa sleeper. The newly-remodeled kitchen was fully stocked. The owners thought of everything and they were readily available to answer questions. The kids loved fishing from the dock and watching the hummingbirds at the feeders on the deck. We had a wonderful week and would not hesitate to go back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1980
About the owner: I'm a retired Delta Airlines pilot, and have enjoyed Grand Lake for over 30 years. Currently working on preserving water clarity at the lake with Greater Grand Lake Shoreline Assoc. We spend 6 mos. at Grand Lake, and 6 mos. in Denver
Why the Owner Chose Grand Lake:
From the time I first went to a high mountain lake, I said one day I'll have a cabin on a high mountain lake with the National Park right behind me. It took quite a while, but I finally found the perfect spot at Grand Lake. The cabin is at the end of the road which only goes half way along the south shore. Rocky Mountain National Park is a couple hundred feet behind the cabin and we're right on the water with a spectacular view of the Never Summer Range on the west side of the park.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The south shore drops off quickly and the lake is 267 feet deep; you can fish right off the dock. Water skiing, sailing, canoeing and every other thing you might think to do on the water. Wild life including deer, elk, moose, fox, still think it's their place. The East Inlet trail head is just a 20 min. walk out the back door. You can also simply sit back and take it all in; the peacefulness surrounds you.
