My family(my sister, parents, and husband) stayed at this house for a week this July. Let me start with the positives: the community, Captains Cove, was beautiful and peaceful. The house was right on the Chincoteague Bay and if you had a boat there was a dock. We enjoyed sitting on the decks, watching the water, listening to music and reading. The house itself is almost 20-25 minutes from the actual island of Chincoteague and you are some distance away from restaurants unless Sonic and Pizza Hut are what you have in mind and those are 11 miles away, as is the grocery store. When you pick up your rental package from the Coldwell Banker office there is no information inside about restaurants, the island, or grocery stores; only your keys and two packets about houses and lots for sale within Captains Cove. Luckily I had brought with me information that had been sent prior to our arrival, otherwise we wouldn't have know how to get anywhere. I would also suggest bringing your own towels. Towels and linens are included, but the towels did not have washcloths with them and several of the towels were stained or had holes in them. Both showers were slippery, both my mom and I (I am pregnant and my mom is elderly) slipped in them. We ended up going to the Food Lion and buying a couple of bath mats. There was a nice spa tub in one of the bathrooms, but the stopper didn't work, so you couldn't fill the tub. The property was clean, but you could tell the rugs had been well used; lots of stains. Oh and yes, you have access to the pools, Marina club and fitness centers within the community, but THERE'S A DAILY FEE. That was never mentioned. The fee is $3/day/person. Which isn't a lot, but just the fact that you're led to believe it's included, and it isn't. We loved being there and it's an easy drive for my sister, my husband and me, so we will definitely go back, but we won't stay here. We found places actually on Chincoteague Island that are also reasonably priced but closer to the things we want to do. So if you want serenity and solitude then this house could be the one for you. If you want to be closer to the island and the Wildlife Refuge, I'd look for something on Chincoteague Island itself.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 26/27
