Map & Owner's Profile
1916 Craftsman Bungalow on 5-Acres of Amazing Mountain Views
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Sequim
Sequim is the sunniest, driest place in Western Washington (less than 16-inches of rain ANNUALLY which is less rain than Santa Barbara, California). Sequim has good schools and was a great community to raise our young son. The Olympic Peninsula has so much to offer in terms of quality of life. Plus all the amenities of Seattle (art, museums, shopping)and a major metropolitan area are just 1.5 hours away.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walk mossy trails in one of the last temperate rain forests on earth one day, climb snow-covered peaks with a "Sound of Music" view the next, explore tide pools on a rocky coast, bike along a trail through ancient 150-ft tall cedar trees, and kayak to a historic lighthouse in a sheltered bay where elephant seals bask in the sun in the afternoon. Where else can you enjoy all these activities within 30 to 45-minutes of your home away from home? What’s even better -- most of these activities are FREE or very inexpensive. In the summer, we hop a foot-ferry to Victoria, B.C. or ride the Puget Sound Express to the San Juan Islands. In September, there's the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend. During the Holidays, it's still small-town Americana here and we cut our own Noble Fir tree at a nearby Christmas tree farm.
The longest natural sandbar in the world stretches 5.5 miles into the Straits of Juan de Fuca. It's a fantastic place for a morning walk along the beach.
The main Visitor Center is just 15-minutes from the 1916 Farm House. A National Park Family Pass is just $15 for 7-days!
In the summer months, hop the passenger only ferry and 55-minutes later you'll arrive in the Inner Harbor of Victoria right in front of the Empress Hotel. Ride a double-decker bus to the Butchart Gard
Just 35-minutes from the 1916 Farm House, this easy 1.5 mile walk thru an old growth forest of Douglas Fir trees towering 100-ft. is not to be missed.
This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the entire Park. For those who don't want to drive all the way to the Hoh, this trail takes you into the Rain Forest -- one of only 3 temperate rain forests
A pleasant morning drive (approx. 2 hours). A beautiful boardwalk trail winds its way through pristine forest to a rugged outcrop of sea caves and islets offshore--the furthest point West in the Conti
Drive to the top of Hurricane Ridge road in the Olympic National Park for a "Sound of Music" view of snow-covered peaks, glaciers, Mt. Olympus and the Straits of Juan de Fuca.
Sequim is the Lavender Capital of North America -- with more than 50 Lavender farms. In the summer, when you drive the Dungeness Scenic Loop, it's like driving the back roads in Provence. The Celebrat
Just 35-minutes from the 1916 Farm House, Port Townsend is a National Historic District and charming Victorian seaport. The Wooden Boat Festival is held each year during the first week of September
If you decide to see Whistler before, during or after the 2010 Winter Olympics, be sure to ask us about our special Olympic Mountains & Mt. Olympus Loop Tour.
The 1916 Farm House is less than 2 hours to downtown Seattle via the Bainbridge Island Ferry.
Our favorite beach on the coast that is easily accessible by car. (We have other favorites but they are wilderness trails that take several days to hike).
While Sequim is one of the driest places in Western Washington (less than 16-inches of rain annually), Forks is one of the soggiest. Which is why, Stephanie Meyers chose it as the setting for her best
The Hall of Mosses at the Hoh is perhaps the best known rain forest trail, but it's NOT the only one. In fact, there are many other beautiful walks in the Rain Forest that are much closer to the 1916
There are many wonderful Day Trip packages -- especially in summer months when the Passenger only ferries are running. The car ferry runs year-round. Would you like to have high-tea at the Empress?
