This classic Craftsman Bungalow sits on five (5) sunny acres surrounded by more than 35-acres of open space and a dedicated farmland conservancy with breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains. Completely updated and lovingly restored in 2002, this charming home provides a rare and an exceptional experience to step back in time. Upscale furnishings in the Arts & Crafts style are in keeping with the period of the home. There’s even an old rotary-style black telephone.

With 10-foot ceilings on the main floor and oversized windows, the original layout of the home is spacious and inviting. There's a large living room with original stone fireplace that opens to a spacious dining room with original bow window, fir wainscoting and built-ins. The country kitchen features custom cherry cabinetry and all new appliances including a dishwasher and refrigerator with bottom-mount freezer and icemaker. The kitchen is well equipped with gourmet gadgets & utensils, dishes & flatware service for 12, Cuisinart coffee maker, toaster, blender, hand-mixer, and a full array of pots & pans including muffin pans, cookie sheets, pizza pan and a large stock pot.

The main level features two bedrooms —- one with a King-size pillowtop bed, the other has a Queen pillow-top. There are two adorable rooms with 4 twin beds for kids in the attic. All beds have wonderful fresh Pottery Barn linens (European style Primaloft comforters with 100-percent cotton percale sheets & duvet covers).

There are TWO full baths on the main floor with new Kohler fixtures and bead board accents. There's a sunny breakfast room & laundry off the kitchen with full-size washer-dryer and a convenient mudroom/rear entry. The kitchen, baths, laundry & mudroom feature eco-friendly Marmoleum flooring.

The expansive Trex deck takes full advantage of the incredible views and includes patio furniture, umbrella table & chairs and a stainless steel gas grill. After hiking, take a soothing soak in the 6-person Sundance hydrotherapy spa under the stars — privately sited to watch the sunsets over Hurricane Ridge and the Olympic Mountains.

The Farm House is less than 2 minutes by car to the beach at Dungeness Spit, just 2-blocks to the Olympic Discovery Trail (for biking and jogging), and 2 miles to the main highway for the Olympic National Park. 1916 Craftsman Bungalow on 5-Acres of Amazing Mountain Views

Year Purchased: 2001

Why the Owner Chose Sequim

Sequim is the sunniest, driest place in Western Washington (less than 16-inches of rain ANNUALLY which is less rain than Santa Barbara, California). Sequim has good schools and was a great community to raise our young son. The Olympic Peninsula has so much to offer in terms of quality of life. Plus all the amenities of Seattle (art, museums, shopping)and a major metropolitan area are just 1.5 hours away.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Walk mossy trails in one of the last temperate rain forests on earth one day, climb snow-covered peaks with a "Sound of Music" view the next, explore tide pools on a rocky coast, bike along a trail through ancient 150-ft tall cedar trees, and kayak to a historic lighthouse in a sheltered bay where elephant seals bask in the sun in the afternoon. Where else can you enjoy all these activities within 30 to 45-minutes of your home away from home? What’s even better -- most of these activities are FREE or very inexpensive. In the summer, we hop a foot-ferry to Victoria, B.C. or ride the Puget Sound Express to the San Juan Islands. In September, there's the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend. During the Holidays, it's still small-town Americana here and we cut our own Noble Fir tree at a nearby Christmas tree farm.

A
Dungeness Spit & National Wildlife Refuge

The longest natural sandbar in the world stretches 5.5 miles into the Straits of Juan de Fuca. It's a fantastic place for a morning walk along the beach.

B
Olympic National Park

The main Visitor Center is just 15-minutes from the 1916 Farm House. A National Park Family Pass is just $15 for 7-days!

C
Ferries to Victoria, B.C.

In the summer months, hop the passenger only ferry and 55-minutes later you'll arrive in the Inner Harbor of Victoria right in front of the Empress Hotel. Ride a double-decker bus to the Butchart Gard

D
Lake Crescent Lodge & Marymere Falls

Just 35-minutes from the 1916 Farm House, this easy 1.5 mile walk thru an old growth forest of Douglas Fir trees towering 100-ft. is not to be missed.

E
Sol duc Falls Trail

This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the entire Park. For those who don't want to drive all the way to the Hoh, this trail takes you into the Rain Forest -- one of only 3 temperate rain forests

F
Cape Flattery Trail

A pleasant morning drive (approx. 2 hours). A beautiful boardwalk trail winds its way through pristine forest to a rugged outcrop of sea caves and islets offshore--the furthest point West in the Conti

G
Hurricane Ridge

Drive to the top of Hurricane Ridge road in the Olympic National Park for a "Sound of Music" view of snow-covered peaks, glaciers, Mt. Olympus and the Straits of Juan de Fuca.

H

L
Ruby Beach

Our favorite beach on the coast that is easily accessible by car. (We have other favorites but they are wilderness trails that take several days to hike).

M
Forks -- Home of the "Twilight" Series

While Sequim is one of the driest places in Western Washington (less than 16-inches of rain annually), Forks is one of the soggiest. Which is why, Stephanie Meyers chose it as the setting for her best

N
Rialto Beach

A rugged, rocky beach.

O
Hoh Rain Forest

The Hall of Mosses at the Hoh is perhaps the best known rain forest trail, but it's NOT the only one. In fact, there are many other beautiful walks in the Rain Forest that are much closer to the 1916

P
Victoria, BC

There are many wonderful Day Trip packages -- especially in summer months when the Passenger only ferries are running. The car ferry runs year-round. Would you like to have high-tea at the Empress?

S
Saltwater Creek Marine Sanctuary

Fantastic tide pool beaches.
