My husband and 2 Bichons stayed at this wonderful rustic cabin in late October for a week. The weather was perfect. During the day, we enjoyed lounging on the deck, watching the wild birds, hummingbirds, and squirrels (bird food provided) and most of all the quite! We enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the table on the deck. Spent nights in the hot tub, amazed at the number of stars. We warmed up the cabin with the wood (provided) stove. We had a few minor issues when we arrived but Cathie & Nancy promptly resolved them. If you are looking for total peacefull seclusion, views of pine trees and total relaxation this is the cabin for you! Thank you Cathie & Nancy for a fabulous vacation!

San Diego traveler

Views from the deck were the best thing about this cabin. There are some repairs that need to be done around the cabin, and the cleaning crew missed vaccuming the floor and couch. The listing description was accurate enough - this cabin is secluded (at the top of the hill) and there are no neighbors in sight. However, the water treatment facility is right behind the property and we've seen trucks pass by only a couple times. My dog liked sunning on the deck and watching the visiting squirrels run up and down the trees. Downtown Idyllwild is less than a 10 min drive away.

Winter Wonderland At Stellar Summit

I just finished my first visit to Stellar Summit and I can only rave about what a great experience I had. Right after I arrived, we had a major snowfall -- and once I figured out how to use the wood stove effectively, I was able to stay incredibly warm while watching the snow fall outside. I had to contact the owners a few times to answer some questions and I found Cathie and Nancy INCREDIBLY responsive and helpful. I loved the cabin... I loved the fact that I could bring my dog... and I loved watching the birds come eat at the various bird feeders. I will return again. I have rented other cabins in Idyllwild, but Stellar Summit exceeded my hopes and expectations.!

Big Disappointment

Stayed here for my big 40th birthday! Hot tub smelled like foul sewage, had to take my daughter to the doctor the next day for dizziness, doctor contributed it to the bacteria in hottub. House is cold and stays cold even after making a fire. Being cold the whole time and unable to soak in the hot tub because it was grosse, I really just wanted to leave early. BUT the owner was very nice on the phone and apologized for the inconvienience. Also the view from the loft window was luminous and spectacular! Good sledding hills for the kids. The cabin was very clean, but the dishes and cooking bowls are broken plastic. Happy about wi-fi. It was still nice to get away but I had just wished that the tub worked, I was looking foward to sitting under the stars and soaking away my youth, instead I was inside the cold cabin, my whole family ended up sulking over it. We spent WAY too much money for the misery.

My husband and I went up to this cabin for a four day escape from the desert heat. What a wonderful retreat! We took plenty of food and drinks- as well as spices and paper products. We really didn't need all the extra stuff I packed- the cabin had it all. We had plans to wander into Idyllwild and catch a show and dinner but never did because the cabin was so awesome. We filled up the bird feeders and hummingbird liquid and just kicked back and watched the squirrels and birds frolic. The nighttime stars were our entertainment in the evening as we shrivelled up in the spa:) We will definitely return. Thanks for sharing this hidden escape

My husband, myself and our dog had such a fantastic weekend at Stellar Summit cabin. The cabin is cozy and comfortable and we felt right at home as soon as we got there. They have all the amenities that make us feel at home, and the perfect quiet location with amazing views. Gorgeous sunset, relaxing atmosphere and yet wifi, DVD player and a fantastic array of movie and book choices to please both my tastes and my husbands. We really appreciated the fenced in large patio and the added touches for our dog (big dog dish, dog friendly magazines and a pet photo display!!) We really look forward to coming back again and again.

Perfect writer's retreat

I went to the cabin to work on a screenplay and it gave me the perfect tranquil experience I was hoping for. Outside the birds chirped around the feeders and the squirrels hopped around, and that was about it for noise and distraction! The deck was perfect for lying out on a starry night and meditating, the hot tub was invaluable, and the cabin itself had everything I needed. My only caveat would be if you have any trouble going up and down the kind of stairs you have to pull down from the ceiling. I have back trouble and it was kind of a schlep (although the hot tub helped!) But the view once you get up there is magnificent. They are right below a water station of some kind, at first I thought it was some kind of power station but it's much more benign than that and you forget about it right away. All in all a wonderful experience.

The cabin certainly is stellar! We look for weekend getaways all the time, but we end up disappointed a lot - but not this time. It truly was private and secluded with lovely views and a fantastic deck . We bought some birdseed and filled the holders and just sat and watched Nature's show. The cabin is comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We'll definitely be back! Thanks also for the welcome bottle of wine......don't hesitate to use us as references if you need to. Thanks again

Our time at your cabin was all we had hoped for, and much more. Walking in was like coming home...everything we needed was there, and looking for stuff was intuitive...and there it was! The view was fabulous, and we enjoyed the bottle of wine (Thanks!) with our bbq'd lamb ribs. We made lots of friends with local critters after buying a bunch of peanuts. We got front row seats for dinner on Kathy's birthday at Cafe Aroma, which coincidentally was also the birthday for one of the local jazz musicians (Marshall, the bass player), and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. They roasted him, then played some super jazz. It was special. All were great musicians. We left regretfully. Thanks for having us, and we hope to return in the future, perhaps for a longer stay. I have mixed feelings about sharing your information with our friends, because we fear we may be in competition with them at some point. But that has not kept us from going on with them about what a great time we had at your place, and what a great place it is. Best Regards!

Cathie & Nancy, Wow what a cute get away spot. It was a “tree-house” and so relaxing to watch the myriad of little creatures scurrying around! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us. This weekend was very special and very enjoyable. The weather was perfect. It never got above 70 degrees and sunshine with beautiful sunsets. Our 11 year old Jack Russell “Jak” loved chasing the chipmunks and squirrels off the porch. Griffen our 3 y.o. Rat Terrier loved following his nose every which way. Chris and I enjoyed the quiet kick back homey environment you both have achieved in this cabin. The nature was performing very well this weekend we enjoyed the howling of the coyotes, the rustle of the squirrels, singing of the birds and our playful 1 am visitors of the mama Raccoon and her two baby’s! Again, thank you for the very enjoyable weekend (our first in Idyllwild). This will not be our last to Stellar Summit and hope to make this an annual event! Sincerely

I think this is our 5th or 6th time here. We love your cabin very much and appreciate you both for allowing us to stay here so often. If you find some new “critters” around the place (squirrels, fish, deer) these are items we have found over the years and were saving for a cabin of our own. What a special place to toss your cares. We were thrilled to find all the special amenities that aren’t usually offered. The solitude and quiet was exquisite. What a wonderful way to shed the stress of daily life. Thank you for the beautiful weekend, scenery and peace. The large fighting squirrels knocked off the bird bath as “Fat Freddy” and “ Ringo” fought constantly. It was hilarious.

We have been to Idyllwild many times and have found our favorite cabin at Stellar Summit. Thank You! What a special place. My husband fed the birds each day. We saw an owl at dusk from the Jacuzzi. It landed just above us and stared at us for several minutes with a lizard in its mouth. You NEVER see that! Angus thoroughly enjoyed chasing the chipmunks on the deck – and moving from place to place to slumber in or out of the sun depending on how hot he was. We will surely be back.

We’ve stayed at a few cabins in the Idyllwild / Pine Cove area and your place is our favorite! Our Golden Retriever and Lab loved watching the birds and other critters. The deck was perfect for them… and us.

Once again, a wonderful time at your rustic getaway. Love the “little considerations”, the frozen mugs, fly swatter, walking sticks, etc. A well stocked, very comfortable cabin. My husband loves indulging the birds and squirrels with the peanuts and seeds. Our 4-legged sweet one also gets a kick out of watching the critters. We all feel wonderful renewed.
