Taking 4 kids on vacation is never easy, and hotels just don't work. We needed a "home base" in case of meltdowns, or if we just wanted to grab a pizza and set around the kitchen talking. This property fit the bill perfectly: Plenty of room to spread out, great layout, enclosed back yard and a quiet street. We were close to the 5 and 8 interstates, only a couple of miles from SeaWorld and the Zoo, and just a few minutes from downtown. Bob met us at the door and showed us around, and the house was everything you see in the pictures. Our 3-year-old called it our "borrowed home" and it really was a home away from home. When we come back to San Diego, we hope to stay here again!
Owner response:You guys are great! Thanks so much for the kind words!! Hope to see you again real soon.

My wife and I - and our four kids - just returned from a 5-day stay in San Diego. The only way traveling as a family of six makes sense is if you have a "home base" to take naps, eat dinners, etc., and this property fit the bill. Conveniently located with a great layout, we couldn't have been happier. Bob met us at the door and showed us around the house. When we come back to San Diego, we hope to stay here again!
Owner response:Thanks so much, great to meet you and hope to have you stay with us again!

We stayed with another family in the Classic Monterey Spanish home in April 2012. It suited both families just fine and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this older but updated home. The weather was a bit cool in the evening to use some of the home's outdoor features, but we took advantage of all the home offered indoors. It's very conveniently located to Old Towne as well as sites and attractions around San Diego and is in a wonderful older neighborhood. The home was clean and nicely remodeled. We would stay here again!
Owner response:Thanks so much ~ it was nice to meet you and hope to have you back again real soon!

Bob was there to meet us and show the house. This was our first rental home, and he made the process easy. Everything was as advertised (actually nicer). We had a group of 4 adults and 4 teenagers. Everyone had privacy and the 3 1/2 baths were a big plus. Comfortable beds and nice furnishings made it easy to "move in" and feel comfotable. Everything we wanted to visit in San Diego was within 10 minutes. The kitchen is perfect for family gathering and coffee in the morning. We cooked meals in and enjoyed eating out . A very nice home. Good memories. We will return.

What a wonderful time we had staying in this fantastic house. Our host Bob was exceptional throughout and was able to accomnodate some last minute changes we had to our plans...Bob even met us at the house on a Sunday night and gave us a tour of the house so we could easily settle in and use everything that was on offer straight away. The House ws exeactly as the photo's show and the Mission Hills area was wonderful and very safe.We were a group of 6...Grandparents, Parents, and two grown children and the house suited all of our needs perfectly and we welcome the opportunity to reccomend this property to future travellers. The Old San Diego town was lierally at the bottom of the hill and many delightful restuarnts and tourist sites are available here for all to enjoy. Thank you Bob for making this leg of our American holiday so memorable
Owner response:It was so great to meet you!! Thank you for your kind, kind words and hope you are able to visit with us again in the future. Maybe we'll contact you for a few tips if we ever venture your way to Australia. Take care for now.

My son now calls it "Bob's House". We had a great time, the house is impeccably kept and we found everything we needed there. From soap to towel to coffee to shaving cream! It's greatly located especially for those looking to be near kids' attractions. It is also close to everything else we wanted to see/visit too. The owner is really nice and responsive. We would definitely go back!
Owner response:It was great to meet you and we would be delighted to have you back again. Thanks so much!

The house was a lovely bolt hole for our family whilst spending two weeks in San Diego. All was as described and very comfortable. We appreciated having the garden area to chill out either before or after a busy day. The location was fantastic as everything we wanted to do was within a 15 minute drive. Bob didn't meet us but gave clear and accurate instructions on how to enter and use the house. The only thing missing was a kettle but that was probably just a Brit thing! We snorkeled and kayaked in La Jolla, did boat trips and a speedboat excursion in San Diego bay, a Chargers game at Qualcomm, visited Seaworld and the Zoo and had lots of great meals including one on top of a skyscraper downtown! Overall thank you Bob for helping make our San Diego visit so good. We will recommend you to our UK friends.
Owner response:Thank you!! Take care and hope to have you back again some day!

We had such a great time in San Diego at your house for two full months and it seemed to us that all that time was not enough... This home was incredible well located, all the Presidio areas, the park and the neighborhood are amazing, and the neighborhood was really calm and safe. The house is also close to all attractions, beaches, restaurants, supermarkets, so it was a pleasure living for two months in the house and to enjoy all its surroundings. We certainly felt at home. It had everything that we needed, and it was tastefully and comfortable furnished. We also had plenty of time to relax at the beautiful and private backyard of the house, barbecuing almost every day and hanging out at the garden ... Sleeping very comfortably, secure and exhausted after enjoying every single hour of the day. I can say that these have been the most memorable family vacations we have ever had. Truly unforgettable! And Bob it was really nice to deal with you, thanks so much for always being available when we ever needed.

Our family came to San Diego for a family wedding on Coronado island. Although our visit was a short, five-day stay, we loved our accommodations in this lovely, stately home. Bob was great and was always just a phone call away whenever we needed to be in touch. Our flight arrived late in the evening, so it was helpful to find the list of recommended restaurants that Bob provided. We really appreciated this well-built home with its period details. It is tastefully and comfortably furnished. Each master bedroom has a large TV. The king size bed was comfortable, and the master suite bath with the skylight was awesome. Enjoyed the nice shower head and strong water pressure--much appreciated after a round of golf! The bathrooms could each use a box of tissues. It was the only item that the amenities did not include, which we picked up at the store--no biggie. The floors were squeaky clean, no dust at all. We loved the patio and the privacy the yard offered. We didn't use the grill, but I could see how perfect the private yard is for family gatherings. We walked to the nearby park--the neighborhood and views are gorgeous. Probably the best compliment I can relate from a family member--He said, "After being here a few hours, this home feels just like home, and so familiar..." Highly recommend and would come back in a flash if visiting the area. Thanks!
Owner response:Thanks so much for "ALL" your kind words. Take care and hope to see you again real soon!

We had the pleasure of staying the weekend of April 16th through the beginning of the week this year and it was wonderful. Bob was there to meet us and everything was as promised. He was also nice enough to accomodate our arrival/departure time, and was always there when we called regarding any assistance that was needed prior to our stay. It is a wonderful convenient location, and our family had a lovely time. If you don't have car, it is within walking distance to the train but there is an uphill climb. However, the house is on a lovely hill with wonderful views and a park nearby. Secluded, yet very convenient. I liked having the closeness of the city, restaurant, but my own sanctuary.
Owner response:It's so great to hear how truly nice your stay was. Take care and hope to see you again.

We just returned from a week long family vacation in San Diego. We were happy to find this home that so comfortably accommodated our family with 6 adults and 2 young children. Bob was a pleasure to work with and the home was the perfect location to see all the incredible San Diego sites. Bob made sure that we had all that we needed to make our stay comfortable including a pack and play and booster seat. As a parent, it is the little things like this that make a big difference. The home has 3 large bedrooms upstairs with the most comfortable beds. So comfortable in fact that my family has asked that I get the mattress brand and model from Bob so they can look in to getting one for themselves! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some great meals (a few more mixing bowls would be good). The only complaint we had and it is very minor is the dust in the house. The floors needed a good dust mopping. Other than that, everything was great. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home! We can't wait for our next trip to San Diego.
Owner response:Thanks so much for your review! Funny enough, we had purchased more mixing bowls as well as some other household items for the home and they are now in the house! As far as dust levels, we truly make a point of getting under every piece of furniture, (beds, dressers etc) with the departure of every guest. The longer the stay as well as the amount of people who stay, the more the dust accumulates very quickly. Especially with wood floors throughout the home. We'll keep striving to keep up with what every guest leaves behind. Take care.

Bob was very accommodating and understanding about our late arrival – a very pleasant person to deal with! We had a great time in this home. It was more spacious than what we really needed (2 adults and 2 two-year olds) - the master and second bedrooms are very large and we felt it would be great to have another couple join us next time. We loved the master bathroom – the shower pressure was fantastic and the kids loved the extra large tub (4’ x 5’ was like a little pool for them). The kitchen was well equipped and we were lucky enough to have nice weather so we made use of the nice patio most days. My only piece of constructive feedback is about dust in the house. Having toddlers, and also because I do yoga each day, I spend a lot of time on the floor and was surprised by the amount of dust that had accumulated under the beds/furniture (also on shutters). I do have dust allergies and did have some minor issues in this regard by the end of the week. However, I should emphasize that the house was well kept and clean elsewhere. All that being said, the many positives of this house outweighed my only criticism above. And as I said before, Bob is efficient and really nice to deal with. The kids keep asking if we can go to Bob’s house again!
Owner response:Thanks so much and glad things turned out great for you!

I'm not one to normaly critique a property that I stay in, but because of Bob's outstanding comunication skills, courtesy and the way he made us feel like we were staying at a Five Star Resort I had to commend him for his diligence in making sure we had everything we needed. This was the first time we had rented a Private Home and had heard horror stories about the condition of the property and misrepresentation of the photos but this house was much better than anticipated. It was close to everything that the City of San Diego had to offer.Beaches, Sea World, Zoo, Gas Lamp, Ball Parks and more. Thanks for everything Bob, We'll see you again in June.
Owner response:Thanks again! It's guests like you that truly make our vacation rental venture a pleasure.

Our lab came to stay here during our visit for the Society for Neuroscience conference. 9 men and women, none of whom were a couple, and aged throughout a range of 25 years. But even so, we were able to utilize every couch in the house to sleep all of us. The house itself is gorgeous, and the backyard is great for relaxing and eating dinner together. However I was SEVERELY disappointed with the way Bob handled himself and spoke to us. He charged us a large amount of money for reasons such as "Furnishings indoors & outdoors, bedding, all dishware dislocated". Being OCD, I can attest that the kitchen was if anything more organized than it was when we got there. And I was unaware that when you are checking out of a house and are kind enough to pile all the bedsheets downstairs by the washer, that if extra blankets were not put back in the exact same room it's a crime. But what really offended me and was highly inappropriate was when he said, and I quote, "Do not want to mention what we found all over one of the comforters". While checking out, one of our guests accidentally spilled her bottle of leave in conditioner on a sheet, not a comforter, while packing. The fact that he even INSINUATED something as disgusting and offensive as that is both rude, disturbing, and highly unprofessional. Would have loved to come and stay again. Loved the area, loved the house, had an amazing trip while there, but Bob left a bad taste in our mouths and we are never coming back.
Owner response:We would like potential guests to take advantage of this review so you can understand that we absolutely provide wonderful homes and amenities that shouldn't be taken advantage of by dishonest & disrespectful people like the people who have written the review above. They were in breech of their written contractual agreements, which typically we can be very leinient and as you can see, with 3 properties on this site and over 100 reviews, we are definitely doing the right thing. These guests unfortunately lied about the amount of guests that would stay at the home. 9 people is the maximum and they had abused their right, admittingly so(after we asked)to having too many people sleeping everywhere in the home. We probably wouldn't have mentioned it if our home had been in decent condition when we came in for the cleaning process. Above they mention sleeping on every couch of which is completely inappropriate and never something we provide as a sleeping arrangement. Furniture and bedding that were upstairs were downstairs and left outside as to not even care if it was damaged or not. As far as what was left on the comforter(and not the sheets)the point is that they new that it was on the comforter, failed to say anything or lift a hand to possibly wipe it off. As far as the charges; the minimal amount of money for one extra person under our written agreement is what we charged and we could have charged triple that amount. The other charge is for a very cherrished, valuable chair that was left outside and the varnish was damaged on the chair by the elements. The total amount charged is about the amount of our cleaning fee. We hope that this group above will learn how to treat others a little more respectfully and now that they have departed we are quite elated. Needless to say, we do not wish these guests to be on anyones future guest list!

My husband and I recently stayed here with our two daughters and their husbands and two young grandsons. The home exceeded all expectations and the owner was delightful. The location could not be more beautiful and it is a nice walk through a wonderful neighborhood to a great coffee shop. Old Town, the Beach and the Zoo were very convenient and we took full advantage of them. My only reservation about children is that there are stairs and all the bedrooms are upstairs, but the yard is completely private and fenced and great for the kids. Although the photos are nice, the house is even better. Definitely plan to stay in this comfortable, roomy, unique and lovely home. It was all we hoped for and more.

This rental home was in a gorgeous, quiet neighborhood in Presidio Park area. This house was beautiful and tastefully appointed. There were 6 people and we could have easily accommodated 3 more people. The rooms very so cozy and comfortable. We attended a family birthday celebration at Bucca de Beppo in Old Town which was a blast and more food than any of us could eat. Our other big celebration was an anniversary party on Coronado Island at Il Fornaio Restaurant which was superb. When at our "home" we enjoyed visiting with family and friends in the beautiful back yard and patio. The kitchen and baths were well equipped with the necessities. We also appreciated that you supply a washer and dryer which came in handy, since our 18 month old grandson stayed with us. Bob, thanks for the use of your lovely home. We appreciated that you were always available to answer any of our questions, give us guidance as to where to eat and provide all our immediate needs. We would certainly enjoy a return trip. We had a FANTASTIC week end!

This home was accurately described -- it is in a older, beautiful and immaculate neighborhood. The house is meticulously designed - the two master bedrooms are large and have very comfortable king size beds. The living area was very cozy and encouraged conversation because of the placement of the furniture. Very nice! My husband and parents enjoyed a wonderful time in San Diego; this house was a great base camp for us to return each evening. We spent one evening outside grilling and enjoying wine. The kitchen was stocked with pots, casserole dishes, plates, utensils, etc. -- everything you would need to enjoy a nice dinner. Bob, your design talent is very evident throughout the house. Thank you for sharing this special home with your guests. We will be returning next summer and hope one of your homes is available. Thank you for checking up on us when you got back into town. Everything was fine so we chose not to contact you, but we appreciated your follow up call. Dorrie

We stayed here for my brother's wedding. Every piece of furniture and decoration was top notch, making us feel like this was a true vacation home. There are so many places for people to gather, from the spacious living room, elegant dining room, the outdoor eating area and two outdoor couch areas, and the wonderful kitchen with stools all around the counter. My favorite feature was the master bathroom: an incredible open shower with windows above made me feel like I was in a tropical paradise! I highly recommend this home, and Bob is wonderful to work with.

My daughter and her family arrived before I did - she sent me a text, "OMG! It's awesome!" All the comments the other guests have made are true. My family decided the house had CHARACTER and PERSONALITY! It was like being in someone's gorgeous home! We were so comfortable and we had a FULL house. Loved the back yard - it's very private - we opened the French doors in the kitchen and let the sun in - sat on the patio with coffee or tea and chatted, Enjoyed the gentle balmy breezes. Had a BBQ with all my family members. Neighborhood was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We too watched the fireworks from Sea World. The beds are SO comfortable - we slept so well. We are now spoiled. As I look at other vacation homes in other parts of the country your home is now the standard against which I compare all others and they pale in comparison. Bob - you have excelled at providing an awesome place for people to stay. Thank you.

We were greated with the kindest welcome anyone could ask for, much like arriving home to your own private residence. The home was masterfully layed out and decorated with the most lavish and accomadating ammenities. The photos of the residence on the website do not begin to do the home justice. Every thing in the home was perfect, from the cooking utensils down to the littlest detail like the phamlets on what to do in beautiful San Diego. The location, just above Old Town and our personel favorite area resturant Cafe Coyote, has breathtaking views of the quietest neighborhood aglow with tranquillity. Thank you so much for the wonderfull privilege of occupying your residence. The best place to stay, no question.

What a find! We had a large group of extended family members stay in San Diego for graduation. This house is amazing! It is located in a beautiful neighborhood with easy access to all freeways. Old Town is just down the hill. The house is elegantly decorated with attention to the smallest of details. The photos on this site don't do it justice. The comfort factor is huge! We loved having a bathroom for every bedroom. Another plus is the beautiful outside gardens - the back yard is so inviting. Bob was fantastic to work with. He is organized, responded promptly to our questions, and handled all details smoothly and efficiently. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful home located in a quiet and serene neighborhood, and will definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed staying at this home in San Diego! The home is located in a beautiful neighborhood near Old Town. There is easy access to the freeway...so we were minutes to all of the nearby attractions. The home is beautifully decorated. We had plenty of room for our family. All of the bedrooms are very large and each bedroom has its own bathroom. We had friends over one night and had plenty of room both inside and out to chat with friends and gather for dinner. Last but not least, the owner, Bob, was great to deal with and very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

This was our first stay in San Diego for our family, and the house and location are amazing. Bob was incredibly helpful and friendly. The house is true jewel, huge bedrooms and terrific amenities. It's got a style and history that one has to experience to appreciate. The location is perfect and the neighborhood is truly stunning. We loved every second of our stay and I would recommend it to anyone. There were four of us, and four more could have stayed in complete comfort! Our oldest son had a king sized bed and room bigger than our master bedroom at home. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that we were extremely happy and would return in a second.

We absolutely loved this place! The location was close to Old Town, the Zoo, and the harbor, and the beautiful area made us feel like we were staying in a resort. We even enjoyed walking around the neighborhood in the mornings. The house has every amenity and looks even better in person than in the photos. We enjoyed the patio(s) and the bright sunny kitchen. We even cooked some meals and ate in the comfortable dining room and the outdoor patio area. The furnishings are very attractive and well kept. The cost was reasonable for three couples (around the cost of three hotel rooms), but the house offered so much more. Bob was easy to work with--very prompt in answering emails and phone calls. We would definitely recommend this property to others, and hope to return for another visit.

Location! Location! Location! The neighborhood was a tranquil setting in the hills ... we could view SanDiego Bay from the bedroom balcony. It was great to have so much space and to be only a 10 minute drive to downtown. Old Town is so quaint and has great restaurants. It was great to have so much space ... coffee on the deck and a gourmet kitchen for our breakfast and snacks ... and since there was 5 women in the house lots of bathrooms and showers. Thanks again for your hospital Bob ... next time we visit San Diego we will be back!!!!!

‘San Diego is a beautiful place but this home was the icing on the cake. I had a great room at the Hyatt last time but there is no comparison. First of all Bob, you are a joy to deal with and the place lives up to the description and more. Every convenience is provided and it comes with luxury as well. Five women getting ready for a convention and not getting in each other's way… Loads of space! Well kept, in an out. The setting is gorgeous - a treat even just driving up to it. Beautiful vistas. I can't believe such a pretty setting and so close to downtown, Old Town, shopping, supermarkets, restaurants, attractions etc. Even stayed in for dinner one night under that beautiful chandelier. You have done a great job in decorating with all modern conveniences and attention to detail yet still maintaining the charm. Already have two parties interested in using your place next time they are in SD.’

This lovely home made coming to San Diego for my daughter’s wedding a truly wonderful experience. Individually, we all commented that we felt “right at home” staying here. My son stated it was perfect for himself, his wife and young toddler. My daughter was overjoyed with the accommodations and was at ease as she prepared the last days before her wedding. I found the home (and it did fell like home) so comfortable, from its beautiful decor to its charming neighborhood. Everything we needed was there for us; from preparing meals, to just relaxing. We loved the sitting area outside the kitchen and utilized it often! Breakfast and dinner on the patio, what a treat! Really, the home was like a big hug!! We enjoyed our stay in San Diego with the house one of the reasons why. The house was awesome and did not complain one bit. Bedrooms were spacious and neat. Kitchens was wonderfully set up. Our party loved the backyard area the most since they could relax and enjoy the sun. Neighbors were very friendly throughout our stay there. Would highly recommend staying here again. Thanks Bob for letting us stay @ your beautiful house
Owner response:Thanks Kris! Take care for now.

We enjoyed everything about the house and location. It was great to have room for the 7 of us and all the ammenities of home. The gourmet kitchen had everything we needed to have great meals and dine outside. The neighborhood was great for walking. It was nice to be so close to Old Town, the zoo, Sea World, and the convention center, yet be able to relax in this quiet nieghborhood. Bob, you were a joy to work with. I hope we can visit again soon.
Owner response:Thanks so much & we hope to see you again real soon!

Thanks Bob! What a treat to be the first to stay in your new property. It was an adult weekend without kids and it was just what we needed. The house accommodated 8 adults perfectly. We enjoyed yummy food in Old Town, easy access to the trolley for 2 baseball games at Petco, a day at Mission Beach and views of fireworks from the park down the street. The house was great for hanging out in the backyard enjoying coffee in the morning and barbequing in the evening. The house had everything we needed and Bob was great to work with. We had a wonderful time and can not wait until next time. We will be back.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your great review! Hope to see you soon.

The photographs on this site are accurate. The house is as lovely as it looks. Even better. We were 6 adults and 3 children, and the space is great for being together and for having some private time, too. The huge garden has three distinct seating areas and we used them all—to barbecue, eat, read, and play croquet. The house is located in an upscale neighborhood a block or so from the Presidio, and we used the park, too, for running. Bob Pellaton is a helpful and enthusiastic owner who genuinely wishes you a great vacation. His contract is clear and reasonable. The cleaning fee is incorporated in the rental fee, so you don't feel like you're paying something extra; nor did he require a security deposit. Some highlights: the skylit shower, the well-equipped kitchen (it had good knives!), the flowering garden, shaded outdoor dining table, and comfortable beds and couches.
Owner response:It was great to meet you all and certainly hope to have you back again sometime soon! Bob
