Light-filled rooms, exquisitely colored walls and much folk-art characterize this gem in one of San Miguel's liveliest and most walk-able neighborhoods--- less than 10 minutes flat walk from the Instituto Allende and 5 minutes more to the Jardin (Centro) and the tranquil Parque Juarez. Fully-appointed, delightful two bedrooms, two baths and an artist's studio with majestic boveda ceilings.
Also includes lovely inner patio and roof-top terrace with sweeping views in all directions of mountains and colonial city. The artist's studio has great light and a fully serviceable kitchen including refrigerator, polished cement counter; gas burners, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and is equipped with all cooking utensils and tableware. The blocks surrounding us have everything you might need, from fresh fruits and vegetables and pan dulce to charming cafes and restaurants. We are one half block from city bus line to Centro (and lots of reasonably priced taxis to anyplace in the city!)
The casa was first built in 1999 as a working studio/living space by an internationally famous artist and print-maker who lived and worked in San Miguel and abroad. In 2004 new owners updated the property, adding an architect-designed second story master bedroom and bath as well as a roof terrace. Three gas-burning fireplaces provide cozy heat in winter. Weekly maid and laundry service, new washer-dryer, flat screen TV, DVD player, IPod speaker port, and cable and/or internet are included in the rental fee.
The casa is in a wonderful, walk-able neighborhood of art galleries, handicraft shops, traditional Mexican and expat family homes and close to the famed art school Instituto Allende, as well as one of the best language schools in town. We welcome well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs and other reasonable animal friends, but require a small refundable pet deposit.
