Backyard decking offers out-door living spaces and a barbeque grill for dining al fresco. Whitetail deer and a variety of wild birds frequent the yard and neighboring valley daily. At night you’ll see a dazzling display of stars light up the night sky.
The spacious home offers a large living room and family room complete with flat screen TV and three sofas for movie watching! The fully equipped kitchen includes a Keurig coffee maker with complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. The laundry room includes an iron and board. The charming bedrooms are attractively decorated and the upstairs dormitory provides the perfect place for the little ones or teenagers to have their own space.
Our back-yard pets, several hen will make your breakfast and if you choose you can gather your own eggs. Please, note that there is no rooster to awaken you!
The whole house has been lovingly converted from the school it once was, to the modern, comfortable house that awaits you.
We are ideally positioned near Monticello, Ash Lawn, wineries, historic sites, and the charming city of Charlottesville.

Our property has the best of both worlds- it is a peaceful country property with proximity to the beautiful homes of Monticello, Ashlawn, and historic Michie Tavern, excellent vineyards, and Fork Union Military Academy (FUMA) and Charlottesville, is nearby. Easy day trips can be launched here to Washington ,D.C., Richmond and Fredricksburg. If you are planning to attend a wedding at Ashlawn we are the closest lodging to their location.
L'Ecole has large rooms with plenty of space for the entire family. There are 4 bedrooms and two baths and the perfect bonus space of the "dormitory" with multiple beds,which can be used as the "kid space." The 2 acres have woodland and mountain views and an abundance of wildlife for your enjoyment.Our newest addition- the hens, provide an unique way to serve breakfast!
Owner's Map of Charlottesville
Bob and Joan Clapp, moved to Palmyra from Northern Virginia when Bob retired from government service. With children now residing in many states and Europe they make Palmyra their home base. They are now willing to share their interesting home which was a two room school at the turn of the century. They now use the "treehouse" apartment as their "quarters" when in the area, leaving the large home for friends, family and guests.
