Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1983

Here I am with my cute little nephew Tobias. He is three and a half and so much fun to hang out with.

Why the Owner Chose Ashland

I first came to Ashland in 1983. I was born in Austria and spent my formative years in Europe. So, when I got to town in the 80's, I fell in love with the Railroad district because of its quaintness, history, and charm. I bought some property and have rented month to month. Then a few years ago I got the idea to turn this little studio into a vacation rental.

The Unique Benefits of this Studio

It is so close to town and has such a good feeling about it. I like that you can just walk down the steps and in a few blocks be downtown! Makes you feel like you are in Europe!

Golden Spike Getaway - in the Heart of the Railroad District
5/5

We enjoyed our visit at the Golden Spike

Guest: Emmie (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 08/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/15/11

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Golden Spike in August. The studio was very comfortable and clean, which we greatly appreciated. Karen was great about emailing us prior to our stay and was responsive to our questions. We loved being in the railroad district and so close to the theatre area, everything was convenient and it was fun to explore the older houses and neighborhoods nearby. We had a fabulous dinner on the patio at "Peerless" just a few blocks away. It was super hot when we were there, and our only complaint is that the air conditioner was noisy. It is a very sweet place and we would definitely recommend it.

Quiet with everything you need. Personal touches make it like home. Proximity to town made me realize life IS possible (and better!) without a car. Enjoyed exploring the neighborhood - makes me want to move to Ashland. The owner is delightful and personable and keeps the property beautifully.
