On a recent trip to Princeville resort on Kauai, HI my extended bear family and I stayed at the “House of Aloha.” The Owners communicated with us very clearly leading up to our trip and made sure we had contact info for the local liaison in case of any questions.

The condo was spacious with wide hallways, large rooms, kitchen area and living areas. Ten of us were accommodated very comfortably! The kitchen, with dark coconut hardwood floors was equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and drink cooler. It also provided a contemporary island ambience to match the light fixtures and window coverings.

The bedrooms and baths were high quality, very clean and convenient with a sense of resort living. The laundry room was on the same floor as the bedrooms which made laundry easy and allowed us to pack less! They had at least one of everything you would want and need from linens to pantry to cleaning supplies.

We really appreciated the boogie boards and snorkel gear provided so we didn’t have to spend extra money on rentals at the beach. The House of Aloha has all the vacation gear you need.

Of course the location is what makes this resort condo extra special. Situated next to the exclusive Makai golf course, it has its own community pool and spa within the Princeville resort. Bedrooms and balconies look out across the golf course to the mountains of Hanalei Bay with waterfalls easily visible.

Just a few minutes away is the local town of Hanalei with many great restaurants, shops and shave ice (a bear’s personal favorite!). From Hanalei you can access the beaches of Hanalei Bay which boasts the sandiest beaches and best sunsets in Kauai. Jump off the pier when the tide is high or try the standing paddleboard lessons like the ancient Hawaiians. There is so much to do so give yourself lots of time to enjoy!

  We rented the House of Aloha for 12 days. We had three families staying there (6 adults, 4 children) and never felt 'crowded." Every room was equipped with comfortable bedding and a flat screen TV, so it was easy to have your own 'space' if needed. The accommodations are lovely...very clean and all the amenities you may need for your stay (beach towels, boogie boards, snorkel gear...they really thought of everything!) The owners were extremely responsive with our pre-arrival questions and supplied helpful information prior to our stay. They also had great information available on site with hikes and sightseeing, etc. I read some reviews prior to our stay that mentioned traffic noise, but we slept with the sliding glass door open every night and did not have any problems. The pool area was nice and the kids swam in it every day without any complaints of temperature. I would definitely recommend having a car in this area as there didn't seem to be much within walking distance, but the supermarket is a very short drive away. All in all, this condo was perfect for us and would stay here again and recommend it to others without any hesitation.

  Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at the House of Aloha. The house is spacious,very clean, and stocked with all the kitchen and laundry supplies. The owners were very responsive to my questions. We appreciated being able to use the snorkeling and other beach equipment. Enjoyed the TVs in all the bedrooms and appreciated the WiFi. It was a great home base for the many activities available on the island.

  Have stayed at House of Aloha twice and will be back for a third as soon as possible. I would highly recommend to all. Price is great! Newer complex, well located, nice people, clean and maintained. The house has everything you need, the owners are very nice and responsive and truly care that you have a great stay. We stayed at the House of Aloha in 2009 and 2012 and property and complex is in the same shape as it was in 2009 (immaculate). We seem to be creatures of habits so when we come to Kauai we spend two weeks, first week at the House Of Aloha and second week at the Hyatt in Poipu. When you find something you like you tend to come back, and we will definitely be back. Helpful tip? Fourth room should only be considered for younger kids, not for adults.

  We had two families with five young kids stay at the House of Aloha for ten days. It was perfect! There is a lot of space for everyone to spread out. The rack of beach equipment in the garage made life easy. Plenty of boogie boards, towels, masks, sand toys, and chairs. The cooler was good. Location is not walking distance to the beach but it is a two minute drive to a shopping center with grocery store, several great take out restaurants, and a bar. Dozens of restaurants are in Hanalei, about 10 minutes away. Lovely place, we would definitely return.

  My family stayed at the House of Aloha in early May 2012. The house is beautiful inside, with a large kitchen, well appointed rooms and a large master bath. The house really does have everything, including plenty of beach equipment and towels. It was obvious the owners take a lot of care in maintaining the house as well, and it was spotless when we arrived. The one thing that should be on the profile is that the house is located very close to a street that is busy by Kauai standards, and there is significant street noise in the master bedroom throughout the night. We had to buy earplugs, which made the noise manageable. (We used to live in a relatively busy section of San Francisco, so we're no strangers to street noise, but in a very quiet area like Princeville, the sound of cars and trucks late into the night, and sometimes in the very early morning, made it difficult to sleep.) The pool area was very nicely done, but even in May it was too cold for childen (and maybe many adults as well). I can't imagine it being a good temperature for childen until well into summer. Our tip: If you're thinking of staying at condos in Princeville, I'd ask about the location relative to Ka Haku Road, and be prepared for noise problems at units located adjacent to that road.

  Overall it was fine. The fourth bedroom is really a curtained alcove with a trundle and a day bed and no access to a shower without walking thru another bedroom (or a toilet without either walking thru another bedroom or going down stairs). Kitchen is nice and well-appointed, bedding comfortable, lots of TV's, owner and local agent very responsive. The pool is relatively cool and shallow, and there are noise rules that make it less fun for teens and young adults. Otherwise the location is fine for the North Shore; can walk to the main shopping plaza with a Foodland and other stores/restarurnats.

  The condo was affordable, clean, comfortable, well furnished and the location was perfect. The women in the group loved the kitchen and at least one is looking for a similar dishwasher set-up. The area is quiet, beautiful, close to many worthy adventures and the best beaches. The combination of Condo and location made for an unforgettable vacation experience. Would definitely visit again.

  Our extended family recently stayed at this location and were very impressed with the accommodations. The price was affordable and roomy for all of us.   We stayed at the House of Aloha from June 4-16 2011. We were a group of 7 adults and the condo was very spacious and comfortable. The condo has everything you need to have a great vacation on the island. The owners were great to work with in setting up the stay. I would highly recommend the property anyone! Thank you for everything!
