Traditional Mexican Home with all of the amenities!

Guest: Marti (California)
Date of Stay: 10/24/11 Review Submitted: 02/21/12

I loved staying at Maryelle's house. Besides the wonderful home, location, ambience, etc. she recommended a wonderful dentist (Clinica Plaza Marina) so I got my teeth fixed while I was there at a third the cost in the U.S. She recommends massage therapists, permanent makeup providers, piercing and tattoo specialists, restaurants, markets, etc. She has neighbors who also rent out their house (Casa Romantica) so if you were having a group this would be very handy, as well, without the high cost of a hotel. Thank you, Maryelle

Owner response:I am happy our house fit your needs.Thank you Marty it was a pleasure to have you at Casa Corona

Unforgettable vacation at Casa Corona

Last summer my family and I were looking for a house to rent in Puerto Vallarta. We have seen Casa Corona on VRBO and we decided to rent it for two weeks. When we arrived we were very happy about the location, a few steps away from the Malecon, a very short distance from the beach, surrounded by wonderful art galleries, high end restaurants and beautiful boutiques. We were also trilled to discover the house itself that had all the comfort and amneties mentioned by vrbo. The owner, Maryelle is a wonderfull lady which is fluent in French, English and Spanish. She takes a great care of her beautiful house and her guests. Prior to the reservation, all our questions were answered promptly, it was very easy to deal with her. Casa Corona is a typical Mexican townhouse with American comfort. The 3 bedrooms with bath are spacious and charming and the bedding is comfortable. The patio provide outdoor space for BBQ and the rooftop terrace allows you to admire the city of Puerto Vallarta's gorgeous surrounding, the Ocean and the pirate boat that comes avery night to shoot the most beautiful firework which we did not miss one day, never getting tired of them. After dinner we went browsing on theMalecon until 2 or 3 in the morning enjoying the Ocean waves on one side and the joyfull musique from the nightclubs ad restaurants on the other side. We also liked to walk through the little street after dinner, always felt very safe, enjoying the talks with the very friendly local people who where always ready to help graciously when we needed them. We all were so satisfied by our vacation at Casa Corona that we have decided to go back as soon as possible.

A perfect Mexican feel getaway

I spent a few days at Casita Corona with my friend Gwilly (see previous review). It is just a wonderful place to stay with friends. The house is lovely, big, with that Mexican flavour we were looking for. The rooftop terrace is amazing (actually there are two of them)!!! and watching the fireworks at New Years Eve from that rooftop is the best way to start the new year. The best use I made out of the terrace though was some awsome sunbathing time! It has all you can wish for in a vacation rental and its very clean. The location is great too. Right downtown Puerto Vallarta, few blocks from el Malecon and the beaches. Everything is at walking distance. Restaurants are great! whether you want to go for a big meal or for a taco on the go, the food experience is awesome. Since it's downtown and close to the Malecon and its clubs, it can get quite noisy at night, I would strongly suggest you bring some good pairs of ear plugs with you and you'll be just fine! Ladies - if you wanna enjoy the streets of downtown Puerto Vallarta, leave your high heels at home :-) Streets are moslty cobble stone... I had to by a lovely pair of shiny "flats" to replace my 3'' heels for NYE :-)) I haven't dealt personally with Maryelle, as my friend Gwilly did, but it seemed to be very smooth and it was very nice to get there and have a very friendly voice-mail from Maryelle wishing us a great stay! Overall, I strongly recommend Casita Corona and if you chose it, wish you to enjoy it as much as I did. Nicole

If you want to really enjoy PVR, away from the packed hotels, and deep within the local community, then Casita Corona is your best choice. The house has a lot of charm and all the necessary amenities, with comfortable beds and great bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen (if you feel like staying home one night or two) ... but most of all: an amazing terrace with a fantastic view of the entire Bay of Banderas. The central location is extremely convenient, and an easy walking distance from great restaurants, fresh produce market/supermarket, the excellent Romantic Zone. It became the ideal location for a friends gathering and new years eve celebrations (the fireworks are spectacular from the terrace!!!), and definitely a place we will recommend to all our friends and family, and come back to ourselves at some point. Thank you Maryelle for a wonderful stay in your home, and for such easy dealings over the phone, by email and mail in preparation of our trip. A dream vacation to remember for sure!!!

Owner response:Thank you very much Guillaume i try to make improvement in my house every year for my guests to be very happy ,confortable and live Puerto Vallarta with a good experience and i hope they will like this town as much as i do

Absolutely amazing!!

A groups of friends and I (in our mid-20s) recently did a destination reunion to Puerto Vallarta. We spent a lot of time looking for condos online and were excited when we came across Casita Corona. It was even better in person. The condo is perfectly located two blocks from the beach and within walking distance of everything. We only took a taxi to and from the airport. If you don't feel like walking everywhere, it's very easy to hop on the bus. In general, the city is very easy to navigate. The view from the balcony is spectacular and we spent almost every night up there between dinner and going out for drinks. Maryelle was incredibly helpful in the planning stages and didn't hesitate to answer questions and give recommendations. Must see/do: Los Veranos Canopy Tour (amazing!), day trip to Yelapa (paradise), holding baby tigers at the zoo (though the rest of the zoo is very depressing). Also, because the condo doesn't have a pool, we got a day pass at Sheraton Buganvilias. For about about $20 you can spend all day lounging poolside or at the pool bar. Well worth it, especially on hot days. Good eats: Barcelona Tapas (great view at night of the bay), La Chata, Dolce Vita. Also, for lunch most days we ate at the smaller, local family owned places. They were some of the best meals I ate and the cheapest. They don't speak as much English at those types of places but the food is more authentic. Fun dance clubs: Mandala (techno), La Bodeguita (Cuban/salsa), Z'tai (mix) Overall, our trip was amazing and I'm so glad we stayed in the condo versus a hotel. Our experience felt more authentic and we became part of the neighborhood. I felt safe the entire trip. My only regret is that we had to leave. It was hard saying goodbye to that view. Hopefully we can get back sometime!

Thank you so much for letting us use your wonderful home! It is in the center of everything and the view is fantastic. I grew up spending my summers in Mexico, City with my grandparents and your home reminded me of their country house, very warm and comfortable with lots of authentic Mexican charm. Exactly what we were looking for.

A new Year like never before!

Casita Corona was everything we dreamed of! The central location of the house in Old downtown Vallarta was key. Everything is in walking distance of the house. The Art galleries are amazing, we even enjoyed seeing some of Bustamente's original work in his private gallery. A truly romantic getaway, my girlfriend and I fell in love with the casita corona. On New Year's Eve we enjoyed the fireworks from the rooftop patio, where we could see the entire bay light up! The owner was very helpful with directions and recommendations towards the local day/ night life. The only regret we have, is that we only stayed there for a week! ps: La Lorraine is a small French restaurant near PiPi's... Don't miss out!... The best French Food we've had in a while!

Dear Maryelle, We thoroughly enjoyed staying in your beautiful home so full of charm and so well located, only 2 blocks from the beach! We loved watching the fireworks from your roof top terrace before deciding where to go eat out in the many delicious restaurants that are in walking distance from your home! For me, it is a treat not to need to rent a car while I am on vacation as I drive a lot at home. It was fun to be able to buy fresh fish, just off the boat, on the nearby Malecon. Your home is very spacious and worked well for a family of 8. We have wonderful memories of our stay in your home and we will come back soon! Pascale and family

Thank you so much Maryelle, this house is very charming and comfortable, the location is perfect especially from your terrace we enjoy the fireworks every night, before taking a walk on the Malecon along the beach, that is only 2 block down the street. The fact that it is located right in the middle of the shopping, restaurant and entertainment district, made it so convenient. When we wanted to venture outside of downtown, the bus stop right in the corner of the street took us anywhere we wanted to go, we did not need a rental car! this was our third year, in your house we hope to be able to make it this year thanks again.

This is an absolutely fabulous place. Located in the center of the most authentic part of the old Puerto Vallarta, this typically Mexican town-house has all the amenities and refinements which reflect the good taste of its French owner. The night life is terrific and the day life can be shared between the exquisite beaches, or downtown visiting or the jungle. I am recommending it to all my friends who dream of a Pacific sunset overlooking the old town and the ocean. You can do it from from this house every evening while seeping a cold margarita (or more). Nothing better.
