The cottage was built in 1908 and renovated in 1996 (hurray for indoor plumbing and electricity). It sits just across a small side street (no parking on either side) from the shores of Lake Pepin, the largest natural lake on the Mississippi River. Right across the street is Ohuta Park which has a fountain commemorating the birth of waterskiing at this location in 1923. At the far end of the park is the municipal beach and beyond that is the city marina; the largest small boat marina on the upper Mississippi River.
The house is finished in period style with wood floors, vintage wallpaper and bead board walls. There is an antique porch swing on the front porch, more seating in the screened in porch and a sundeck off the upstairs bedroom.

Year Purchased: 1995
My wife and I live on a hobby farm just north of Lake City. We fell in love with the house the first time we saw it. We thought we may retire there one day but are not sure that the city will allow horses, chickens and ducks on a small city lot.
Why the Owner Chose Lake City
The house has a lot of character and the view is spectacular. The house sits on a bend in the street so that it has unobstructed views of the lake from the front and side.
The Unique Benefits of this House
While the house sits on a quiet side street it is only blocks from the marina, downtown shops and restaurants, tennis courts and beach. There are gorgeous views of the Lake and the Wisconsin Bluffs in the distance from every room. Stay put and enjoy the view and relax in the 6' Jacuzzi tub (room for two) or explore the town on foot.
