My name is Lorna Alexander and I have been a fan of Highlands, North Carolina for more than 10 years! I have worked in the hectic world of Advertising for many years, said adios to that and opened my own retail shop in Highlands called Cool Cats Hot Dogs - A Unique Boutique. The shop served as the local gathering place for pets and the people who love them for several years. The shop is no longer in Highlands but has moved online. Woof! Woof! Why the Owner Chose Highlands
At one time, I lived in the bustling city of Atlanta, travelling a lot for business and needed a place to rest from the stress of the fast-paced life I led. Highlands was the antidote and I purchased a weekend getaway place here in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina! I liked it so much that I moved here full time in 2005! I now live in Indianapolis to be closer to family and am renting my beloved North Carolina home for others to enjoy!

I love the outdoors, hiking and mountain biking, great shopping, excellent restaurants and all kinds of theatre, the beautiful mountains and nearby rivers, lakes, camping and waterfalls! Great Smoky Mountain National Park is only a 50 minute drive away! The great mountain city of Asheville is also only a beautiful mountain drive away (50 minutes). There are plenty of things to do in Highlands and the surrounding area. Come check it out - you will be sure to return again and again.
