Owner Profile:
My family and I have been enjoying the San Juan Islands for many years. The sailing is fabulous with many windy days year-round and so many little islands and coves to explore. The food and the local wines are a delight, with so many options and variations. We love to take our bikes and visit the different islands for the day, but it's always a treat to come home to the sound of the tide moving and lapping on the rocks on our beach and a soak in the hot-tub. We work and live in Seattle but I moved here from Philadelphia, intending to stay just a year before heading back. But now, 20 years later, I have made my home here in the Pacific Northwest and our children attend a Waldorf school in Seattle. But we come up to the islands as often as possible, especially in the summer, for rest and family-time together.
Why the Owner Chose Friday Harbor
San Juan Island is so close to many urban centers and yet it is a delightful, rural escape, and very easy get to. It is a peaceful contrast to the busy life in the city. And our house is a wonderful place to enjoy the nature and idyllic quiet of this gorgeous island. It is a lovely spot for family and friends to relax and rejuvenate. There are plenty of hikes and dramatic beaches to walk along; the kayaking and wildlife-watching is great and the sailing is world-famous.
