i was very impressed with this site. The home i saw was the exact home i stayed in. Dee, the property owner, was polite, professional, kind and a absolute pleasure to deal with. Any question, Dee was available. The property was well maintained, the maid was great. It was a great vacation! I will stay at this property again and will book through Homeaway again! My buddy and I needed a break from the concrete jungle of NYC. Upon arriving at the airport we were greeted by Jesus G who was our ride to our villa. Jesus is awesome, he took good care of us and offered to drive us around if we needed to explore towns outside of Sosua. Once in Sosua you really don't need a car since the villa is walking distance to everything. The villa was amazing, immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and a pool that hits the spot on a hot sunny day. The kitchen is fully stocked; all cooking pots, utensils, glasses and everything you need to cook. The bedrooms are nice with one of them having its own private bathroom. This master bedroom also houses the safe. Nice dining area to relax and enjoy some drinks. Dee has the best customer service skills I've ever come across. She even contacted me back when she was out of the country. She made sure that all my questions were answered and went out of her way to give me some tips on how to make the most out of my vacation The villa is in a gated community and everyone there is very friendly and helpful. Can't ask for anything better in Sosua, don't think twice about it just book it and enjoy paradise.

My stay in Sosua was made pleasant due to the accommodations provided within the Hispaniola Residential. We were first met at a secured gate leading into the community, directed to check-in, and spoke to the property manager. She was friendly and informative and directed us toward our residence. Upon entering the house we were pleased at how well maintenance the property appeared. All the amenities were in great condition and the pool looked awesome! One good asset was that the rooms were spacious and each bathroom was accommodating. The house is located extremely close to the main center of town (walking distance -5 mins), well lighted streets, close to a market, minutes to the beach. My only complaint with the house was that the drainage in the showers were slow which tend to mandate that we take not take as much time showering. We contacted Dee and she immediately had someone from maintenance respond to take care of that problem. Upon my return to Sosua this rental will be high on my list!

I stayed in Dee and Steve's villa for 4 nights and it was wonderful. The maid, Francia, and pool man kept everything sparkling. Dee has the whole house decorated beautifully. It's almost like being at home! It's easy to walk to town to shop, eat or go to the clubs. Thanks for such a great time, Dee and Steve.

My brother and I had a ten day stay, and enjoyed every minute of it. The house is very well kept. Jesus was there for us whenever we needed him, and new all of the good places to go. And Francia was the best. She was very sweet, and she did a great job making sure everything was clean. And the pool guy was there every morning to clean the pool. We also had more then enough cooking equipment in the kitchen.

Excellent relaxing vacation

The Villa was much better than I expected, days were spent relaxing by the pool and the views were gorgeous. It was clean and well maintained, the pool was cleaned daily, the maid was friendly and I felt very safe. The food is great and so is the nightlife. Walking distance to grocery store, beach, restaurants, bars. Dee and Steve were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Their recommended taxi driver, D'Jesus is very knowledgeable, friendly and fair. I plan on returning with my kids this summer and highly recommend this villa for anyone visiting, especially first timers (like me), they do their best to make it a great experience. Thanks for a great vacation.

A wonderful way to spend our first trip to the DR!

Dee and Steve were staying at their condo during our visit, so in addition to getting us oriented to life in Sosua, we also made some new friends! The house is great – very comfortable, quiet, and accommodating. The housekeeper Francia is very sweet and we enjoyed chatting with her (or trying to) in Spanish. We spent many hours (and Happy Hours) relaxing by the pool, and made good use of the internet access. We really enjoyed walking through their beautiful neighborhood and strolling into town. Many good restaurants, especially La Finca and Orchidee. Brittania is the place for happy hour, with a good Italian restaurant next door. Take the 10 minute drive to Cabarete and enjoy a good beach with restaurants and bars on the beach. Kahuna is great for happy hour, and La Casita Papi has excellent food. Casanova is a must, for great food at lower prices. Drive a little further to Playa Grande and enjoy locally prepared food on the beach. Two weeks in paradise with perfect weather, perfect hosts, and a terrific house – thank you so much Dee and Steve for a perfect vacation! We will be back!

I think that this is an excellent villa to rent.It is in a great location so no need for a car.It has all of the little extras that help make a great stay. coffee maker, Ironing board,a safe, bottled water, dvd player, Internet service and daily maid service. I very nice private pool to do laps in the morning or entertain in the evening. I would recommend to all of my friends without reservation. Five stars

WOW!!! Where do I began... Let me start off by saying thank you so much Dee for allowing my cousin and I to rent your villa. The pictures in the ad does no justice. This place is a MUST SEE!!!!!! The property is very clean and well maintained. I've been traveling to DR for years, but I've never stayed in Sosua. This place has it all. I can't see myself going anywhere else now. All the attractions and resturants are within walking distance. The 24 hours security is very nice and work very hard....... If you come down and rent this property, have Dee introduce you to Jesus G. I just wanna say that this guy is awesome. He's very trustworthy and has a good heart. Much respect and much love brother. Let me start of by saying thank you Dee for allowing me to rent your villa. I've been coming to DR for years, but I've never stayed in Sosua. This place has it all. The place was very clean and well maintained. There are not that many spot when you travel, that has everything is within walking distance and its very SAFE. This spot is prefect for ALL ages! Im even thinking about investing in the complex where this villa is. The pictures for the villa does no justice. This is a MUST SEE!!!!!! I also would like to give a lot of love and thanks to Jesus G, who did a awesome job of showing us around and being a trustworthy and honest person with us..... If you come down have Dee introduce you to Jesus G...... Once again this place is great and has it all. I'm booking my next trip with the week!!!!!!!!!! Be on the lookout for my phone call Dee.

This is a lovely house; one of the nicest we've rented and just like the photos. Our favorite feature was the pool are and gorgeous plantings. It was perfect for the two of us and would be suitable for a couple with small kids. The owner and management company were very helpful in providing information about the D.R. and Sosua.

Dee & Steve Our vacation was full of suprises! A wonderful villa, a full moon, a banana tree, some humingbirds, a nice lady called Francia (your maid) and Joanna (your property manager). My mother had a mini stroke but got "excellent" care at "Bournigal" in Puerto Plata. You also have wonderful neighbors. Thanks so much, we had a excellent vacation and would love to come back.

A lovely housein a nice location. It is safe, secure, and very clean. It is a good place to come back to and relax for an evening swim before going out at night. It is located in a tranquil setting but close enough to walk to the beach and the nightlife. Go service by all and a few laughs along the way. The villa is well equipped to cook a nice meal with all moden conveniences. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this villa toeveryone!

Dee, I just want to thank you for opening up your Sosua home to us this past week. We had a wonderful time. To be honest with you, I don't know if there is a better place to stay down there. The maid was very accommodating and friendly. Joanna was very helpful, and Jesus was just great. We met a lot of good people, and made great friends. I really hope we can stay there again when we come back, because we are DEFINITELY going back. We're shooting for mid October. I'm still thinking about all the good times we had. I miss it already! This is my second visit to this house. I call my visit there a "brain massage." Everytime I visit I end up staying another week. It is perfect. The foilage is greener, the sky is more blue and the gentle breeze is delicious. The owners make you feel like it is your place during your visit. The maid service is excellent and the little town of Sosua has many restaurants very reasonably priced. I intend on buying a home in the same neighborhood in a couple of years. The gated community has the best homes in the DR. Enjoy!

My new wife and I stayed in this Villa in September of 2008. It was really the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Dominican Republic. We really liked that we were able to walk to where we needed to go. The town and grocery store were 10 minutes away and the beach was 15 minutes. We enjoyed cooking our own food in the house and trying out the fun little restaurants in town. There was one time when we hired a guy to drive us on his motor bike to the far side of the town. We have been in several Latin American and Caribean countries and felt the safest in the DR. We felt safe walking at all times of the day. We feel that the government has done a good job building the infastructure and the economy is in good shape. The staff of the community were great. We got to know our maid and she was really sweet. The guards at the gate were friendly and were willing to help us out when we asked them questions in spanish. We enjoyed our tour of the 'Seven Waterfalls' because we could learn about the DR from the tourguide and got to see more of the country. We also had a great time when we had a local boat owner take us on an hour long snorkeling excursion. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return with friends some time in the future.

Our Week in Sosua

My husband and I and our two teen-age children spent a week at the villa. The villa and the pool were immaculate. We really enjoyed having our own private pool and spent many relaxing hours there in between our sightseeing tours and our time in Sosua. Having our own kitchen allowed us to cook some of our own meals, which reduced the cost of our vacation and allowed us to spend time together as a family. We really enjoyed our Mels Tours - we took the Jeep Safari and Puerto Plata tours. My son and daughter participated in Ocean Worlds Sea Lion and Dolphin encounters.

I stayed at the villa for my 10th wedding anniversary. My wife and I had a wonderful time. The house was beautiful. We enjoyed the private pool in the back. It was in a safe location; with close proximity to the beach, shops, restaurants, clubs, casino, etc. It was also cool having maid and pool services as well, wireless internet. We're trying to plan our next visit to this splendid destination. Dee, the owner was also helpful with providing pertinent information, maps and suggestions to tours.

My three girlfriends and myself vacationed at Dee and Steve's villa in the DR in March 2008. What a fantastic week. Their place is lovely. It's everything the description says and more. The pool was a treat. The house was very comfortable, clean and safe. It is conveniently located, just a 10-15 minute walk to town. Dee went out of her way to provide us with information so that we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. We experienced 2 tours while there....Mel Tours Jeep Safari and Paradise Island snorkeling....both great!! Linda at Mel Tour is the one to see. The restaurants were all good. The Waterfront restaurant was an extra nice treat. We'd go back there in a heartbeat. 85 degrees and sunshine everyday....why wouldn't we?

Relaxing and Convenient

We arrived at the house after spending one week living on a boat out at Silver Bank while swimming with the humpback whales. This was a great alternative to the all inclusive atmosphere. The house was in a great location and convenient to shopping and the beach. You could walk to everywhere you needed to go. The people in the community were very helpful. Dee (the owner) made everything perfect including sending information about Sosua before we arrived. She gave us great suggestions for shopping and restaurants. We took a enjoyable tour with Puerta Plata Runners and got to visit a school, a family home, the beach etc. We took a tour to Santa Domingo with Mel's tours. It was a really gruelling long day. Unless you are really a fan of Christopher Columbus and want to visit the historic sights I wouldn't advise the tour. We left at 5:30 am and didn't return until 9:00pm. We also took a snorkelling tour to Rio San Juan. The snorkelling was better right off the beach in Sosua if you are willing to swim out to the coral. The trip to Rio San Juan was not worth the money. Dee and Steve have provided a great escape. The house is very comfortable and having a private pool is a wonderful bonus. Also the maid is a real sweetheart. I would recommend this rental to anyone who is not into the all inclusive type of atmosphere. This type of rental gives you the opportunity to interact with the local people which was a great experience. Cindy

Relaxation at its Best

My wife and I spent 10 wonderful days here. All the information provided about the property and town was right on the mark. Beautiful villa, with a wonderful view. Service was great. Having been many other places, this is going to be our first choice from now on. The owners were just wonderful and the information they provided us (the inside tips) was so greatly appreciated. Rather than do tours, etc, we just relaxed, went to happy hour at the Brittania and then to dinner. The little town is very friendly and safe with a multitude of places to eat and drink. The beach there is something to behold. At the end of the street from the villa is a grocery store. Local items are really inexpensive but imported items can be a little steep. If you want meat, eggs and veggies it will not cost you much but if you want chips and that kind of items it is a bit steep. I wish we were there now!!!!! There are plenty of tour operators there for those wishing to do that. Mels is the one most of the people there spoke of. I was thinking of going on a fishing trip (they were really cheap), but I had taken my telescopic with me and just went down to the beach a couple of times in the early am. Didn't do very well, was so relaxing I don't think I put any bait on the hook.

My mother and I visited Sosua from 28 January 08- 01 February 08 and stayed at this villa in Residencial Hispaniola. Everything that is listed or said about the villa is absolutely true. The villa is very new, very clean, and very well mantained. The views from the villa are beautiful. The town of Sosua is very charming and the people are kind and accomodating. The town and ocean are a short walk from the villa. There are many things to do and see in the town...we also went on a 'jeep safari' with Mel Tours which was a truly amazing especially the waterfall leg of the trip. I would certainly go back to the Dominican Republic and would certainly stay in this beautiful villa again.

My husband and I stayed at the villa for a week for our honeymoon from December 23-30. We had an absolutely wonderful time! The house was exactly the way the pictures showed it to be. It is very inviting, fresh and clean! The daily maid service and pool service was excellent and above our expectations! Having our own private pool was definitely a added luxury. We feel in love with the town of Sosua! The people were so friendly and remembered us throughout the week as we would pass my the stores and shops. Some of our favorite restaurants were the Britanna, evening 99 pesos dinner specials, and 2 for 1 happy hour from 4-7 daily. We also enjoyed the Morua Mai Restaurant which features excellent Italian foods. It is a little more expensive for Sosua but worth it! We would also highly recommend taking a tour with Mel's Tours. The rep, Linda was extremely helpful and helped us pick a tour that was right for us! We choose the jeep safari tour which was awesome! The owner of the villa, Dee, could not have been more helpful! She spoke with me often before the trip prepping me with any information she thought was helpful and that we needed to know. She meet all our needs and more! We would and have highly recommended this property to friends! We can't wait until we can return again ourselves! It was a wonderful, relaxing vacation!

In april 2010 I visited sousa dom. rep and had an absouletly great time. Anyone who traveled on vacation before knows that the accomodations you stay at while your there adds to the over all experience of the trip. Let me start out by saying if i would have never left the villa to explore sousa i would of still had a great trip. first it is in a gated quiet and clean community with 24hr security, so i never felt nervous for my property or safety. The villia itself is clean with nice simple interior furnishings and decorations inspired no doubt by the tranquil enviornment with a pool in the back thats cleaned everyday surrounded by beautiful trees and a great mountain view of sousa and nature. Outside of the complex everything you need is in walking distance the supermarket, stores, the beach and most importantly the bars and clubs for the night life seekers. I do certainly thank dee and steve for the use of their home and I will be in touch soon for my return trip in dec.
