It is a fantastic living space with amazing views and had everything we could need for our stay and it felt like home. Peaceful and quiet. It was a fantastic stay- thank you! It was perfect in every way and exceeded our expectations.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Barrie & Tod, Norm and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in you wonderful vacation house. The setting is beautiful, the house is comfortable, easy to live in you both did a great job furnishing it, loved all the special touches. Barrie, your binder is great, full of useful information, a terrific guide book. Tod, you were so helpful,if we had any questions you were right there and Kudos to the man that grades the pathway down to the lake, it is unbelievable, it is quite a steep hill but he graded it so that you don't even know you are going up or down, my hat is off to him. All in all a super to place to "get away" and relax. We will do it again. Donna & NormOwner response: It's so nice to hear that the work we put into making guests feel comfortable is appreciated! Please come visit anytime, Donna & Norm. You left the house so clean we almost didn't need our housekeeper! Thank you ;)

This home proved to be the perfect romantic getaway for our weekend! The complete seclusion and magnificent surroundings absolutely blew us away! The house is perched high above Rollins Lake with a wonderful view stretching up one end of the lake and down the other. Aside from the small utility shed there were no other buildings in sight; no neighbors and no structures even across the expansive lake view. The exquisite quiet of the environment was broken only by the occasional motorboat and the amusing honking of flocks of geese flying overhead. We were absolutely amazed by the technology of the ?accordion? folding-glass walls in the spacious living room. All three outside walls completely open up to the outdoors! From that room and the kitchen we actually felt nestled into the woods surrounding the lake, integrated with the huge, natural and rustic wraparound deck. And what a perfect setting for an ?open? house! There were absolutely no insects to intrude (aside from a lazy daddy-longlegs). The sunset down at the lakeside was romantic and peaceful, and the sunrise from the master bedroom was completely stunning and bathed the oaks and pines in a warm golden glow. The deck provided a beautiful spot to relax and decompress on the comfy chairs and enjoy our Sunday-brunch omelet. We also loved the local wineries and restaurants. We definitely look forward to another tranquil retreat in the near future.Owner response: We were so glad you enjoyed your visit, Mike and Kendra. We took your advice and put a pretty little dish on the bathroom sink for earrings so there's no danger of them slipping into the bathroom sink. Your description of our place is so poetic, Mike! You describe it so eloquently and perfectly. Barrie & Tod

We stayed two nights and wished it could have been 5. This home has to be seen to be fully appreciated. So beautiful and private and relaxing. By far the best vacation home I’ve stayed at in terms of both aesthetics & how “at home” I felt there. I loved cooking & chatting & dining at the kitchen island & being able to look out at the deck & trees & water beyond. My first night I sat reading in the “cocktail lounge” until the sun finally set after exploring the area with the dogs (they loved the fresh hay). I liked that I could secure the deck; this way I could open up the house & not worry about managing the dogs’ red clay feet! We will be back.Did you find this review helpful? This was one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. No news, just books, movies on blu ray, and games. The home was absolutely lovely; beautifully decorated yet very comfortable. Comfy bed, down comforter, and fully appointed kitchen. All of the exterior walls were glass panels that completely opened up to a huge deck. The house was very secluded and private with a great view of the lake below. I can't decide what I liked most - cool mornings sipping coffee on the deck in my bathrobe while watching the deer a few feet away, enjoying a book in the warm afternoon sun, watching the sun set with cocktails at happy hour, or roasting marshmallows in the BBQ grill under the stars for s'mores at night. The massage in nearby Nevada City wasn't bad either. Also, our terrier just loved running around the huge fenced deck & dog run barking at every leaf that dropped from a tree. I can't wait to come back!Owner response: Thanks for coming all the way from St. Louis to experience the beauty of our Sierras, Ellen. We're so happy you enjoyed your visit. I think I'd vote for happy hour on the deck! :) Barrie

We had such a fantastic time staying in this lovely home. Barrie and Tod have gone to great lengths to ensure comfort for their guests. The expansive deck offered the best vantage point for bird viewing, here you can watch orioles in the trees and golden eagles soaring over the lake. We would plan our day with the help from Barrie's thoughtfully prepared info binder. Some of our favorites: hiking and touring the Empire Mine State Park, exploring Nevada City, beating the heat while floating in the lake, and cooking up a great dinner with fresh local organic produce. Regardless of our daily adventure we always looked forward to getting back "home".Owner response: Beth, you two were our first guests with dogs (and 2 big beautiful ones at that). Initially our policy was 1 small dog. Thank you for paving the way for other pet lovers by being such fantastic dog owners and guests! We'd love to see you and Cole again this summer and show you the many things we've done, including a private trail to the lake. Easier for the dogs now! All the best, Barrie and Tod

This is an absolutely fantastic place to vacation! The home is beautiful with every amenity possible. Evenings on the expansive deck overlooking the lake are spectacular, and the stars at night put on an incredible show. One of the most comfortable, serene and beautiful places that I have ever stayed. Can't wait to return!Owner response: Deb, you were our second "guinea pig" since we opened shop and we were so delighted that you loved it. It meant a lot. And thanks for traveling all the way from Pittsburgh, PA (vs. Pittsburgh, CA) to visit our place. Would love to see you again. Barrie & Tod

This is a stunning and unique home. We have never felt so relaxed and so part of nature. The owners have thought of many touches to make the experience special. We will definitely come back! What a way to celebrate our anniversary.Owner response: Barb - you and Andrew were our very first guests and we were a bit nervous and wanted everything to be perfect. We're so happy that you had a wonderful time and didn't know that we were neophytes at this. Please come visit again. Kind Regards, Barrie and Tod
