Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2002
I am an artist, environmentalist, photographer, sculptor and jewelry designer. I bought the property as my own retreat but find I now have new grandchildren and other business activities which keep me from being in the Santa Fe area as much as I would like therefore I have opened the property to others to share its charm and beauty.
Why the Owner Chose Pecos
I purchased this cabin because it represents the "best of both worlds": a beautiful peaceful mountain setting within close proximity to the sophistication and worldly activities of Santa Fe.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The Pecos river is down the hill and across the road and can be heard in the evening as you sit by the fire. The land is pristine and remote but in touch with the world by cell phone (on the deck is best). It is a great way to get back to nature!

We have just returned from New Mexico, which is experiencing devastating fires. We had arranged to rent this cabin for 3 days during our stay. Things were changing rapidly regarding the fires and ultimately we were unable to access the cabin as authorities were only letting in local residents with ID; all trails and some roads in the area remain completely closed to the public. We found this out a bit late, unfortunately, and had to scramble for alternate accomodations, but this was a fast moving and completely unprecedented situation. We were able to reach the property owner by phone (on a holiday weekend!) and she graciously returned our funds and offered her caretaker as contact to help us find alternate accomodations. While inconvenient for us, this situation was most devastating to residents and property owners in the area and this owner's response was just what one would hope and expect. I would not hesitate to make a reservation for this property again in the future.
Owner response:Thank you for your thoughtful review. The canyon was closed down as a precaution because firefighters were occupied fighting fires elsewhere in New Mexico over the 4th of July holiday and they did not want to risk any fires starting in the Pecos area. Neither the cabin nor the site was damaged as a result of the fires.

My husband, parents, dog and I went up to this wonderful cabin for a two-day getaway and we could not have been happier. We truly couldn't have hoped for a cozier, cleaner, woodsier get-away. We relaxed in the cabin and read, made campfires outside, walked around the area and spent time at the river, etc. Laurenn was wonderful and Amanda (the care-taker) was super sweet and helpful. Thank you and we definitely hope to be back!
