Couples Getaway

Guest: Gilly (Greenup, IL)
Date of Stay: 04/03/12 Review Submitted: 04/07/12

My husband and I just returned from our getaway to Pigeon Forge and stay at A Place in Time. This was our first time renting through VRBO, and let me tell you that it will not be our last! The cabin was clean, decorated with quality furnishings and almost anything you need is here! It is only a 5-10 minute drive to all the madness of Pigeon Forge, but while at the cabin we were surrounded by beauty and even heard a stream on the hillside below the back deck! Previous posts said something about low water pressure, but we found the shower to be great! The bed in the master is a little lumpy, but otherwise comfortable. They thought of everything here, down to mood lighting!! Thanks, Connie, for the homey accommodations while in Tennessee!

A Time to Remember

Guest: Angie & Kevin (Nicholasville, KY)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 03/25/12

My husband and I stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary. We were looking for a cabin in the woods for a getaway. We were very satisfied at "A Place in Time". This cabin offered all the comforts of home plus many more. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night and looking up at the stars. We spent our days exploring Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and even ventured over to Cherokee, NC. At the end of each day we easy returned to the cabin and prepared a meal and enjoyed the tv and hot tub and pool table. Although the room is a bit smaller than I'd have preferred to play pool in it was still fun. We truly appreciated the way Connie and Chris were available to answer any questions we had and how they provided all the information promptly. They were very pleasant to work with. We will definitely consider "A Place in Time" again the next time we come to this area.

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It was clean and very "homey". Our children loved it and the view was wonderful! We really enjoyed the grill and eating outside on the deck. Our husbands enjoyed the pool table! The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. We would recommend this cabin to anyone! We hope to come back again sometime soon.

My husband and I stayed here during our 5th anniversary. We came during the weekend. For some reason Pigeon Forge was very crowded. Thankfully we knew some back roads. Our cabin was very cozy. We enjoyed snuggling on the couch. The stairs outside were slippery when it lightly snowed. Parking was a little cramped. We would highly recommend this cabin to others. I also appreciated the owners of this property. They communicate thouroghly from begginning to end. Thanks for your excellent southern hospitality.

Date of Stay: 01/13/12 Review Submitted: 01/18/12

We enjoyed your beautiful Cabin! Getting away for a relaxing long weekend was long over due! We relaxed in the hot tub, enjoyed the fireplace, cooked in the fully equipped kitchen, and just enjoyed the lovely views of the woods and mountains. The decor was just as the photos showed, very clean and well maintained, loved the bears decor! Comfy master bed, and loved the heart tub! Watched some of your DVDs, played pool and noticed the nice selection of games. Only negatives of our stay were the road noise (not as secluded as we thought) and the water pressure in the showers was very, very low. Looking forward to coming back to the mountains for another get-away soon!

Owner response:Stephanie, I am sorry about the water pressure. We have a very expensive water filtering system in the cabin so that we will have good water quality. I will pass along to my maintenence person to check and be sure the faucets are not clogged. We dont usually have any issues with that! Thanks again for your comments, we love to get them. Hope you will visit again.

We stayed at A Place in Time and enjoyed every bit of it. We got married at the cabin on the balcony, beautiful weather and site with trees in the back ground. The leaves changing colors was an extra add to pictures. Our stay was very pleasant and we look forward to spending some Anniversaries here. Enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and heart shaped jacuzzi. I was nice that accessories were there if we needed anything. Nice and cozy cabin, hope we can stay for longer the next time.

Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 10/07/11

This was our first time renting a cabin and coming to tennessee. Connie was so wonderful to work with. The cabin is as beautiful as the pictures if not better. Even though there were cabins on each side you could not see them, so it was very private. We played pool every nite, woke up and drank coffee on the porch and sat out every evening when got back on the deck. The cabin was clean and had everything that you would need to stay. Thank you Connie for letting us come. We defiantly want to come back to your cabin. Make sure if you come that you go to Cades Cove, talk about beautiful views and we even got to see some black bears.

Our stay Feb. 9th-14th

Guest: 1st family vacation (Aberdeen, MS)
Date of Stay: 02/09/11 Review Submitted: 02/18/11

After dealing with the renovation of our house for 5months, from a water busting, we took a much needed vacation to the mountains! This was our first family vacation with all 3 kids(12,5,18 months) and our 15 year anniversary!! The rental price of this cabin is great. The cabin is located just 2 miles from the parkway, but yet it offers great views/peacefulness. I loved the lay out, especially with kids. There are no stairs and bedrooms are on opposite sides of the cabin(but aren't that far apart)! My husband loves a wood burning fireplace. We really enjoyed the back deck(coffe/views in the morning, games of pool while grilling, and hot tub at night)!! It was nice to be in the kitchen getting things ready, but still be able to talk/watch family play pool(due to the pass through window that opens from kitchen to enclosed back porch w/ pool table)! The heart shaped jacuzzi is a nice touch in the master bedroom(jets don't produce alot of pressure, but there was no black stuff coming out as mentioned in an earlier post). Connie and Chris were very pleasant to deal with and always answered questions/concerns promptly:) We enjoyed ourselves soo much, that we stayed an extra day just to hang out at the cabin!! I would definetly recommend this cabin and will be back!!!!

Fabulous Weekend Stay

Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 01/22/11

I stayed January 14-16 2011 for a birthday getaway. We arrived Friday afternoon with no problems. It had been snowing all week and I was worried about making it to the cabin, but all the roads leading to the cabin were clean and salted, four-wheel drive was not needed. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the cabin and the location. We were so close to everything. Connie was also fabulous. She answered all of my questions quickly and truthfully. I would suggest A Place In Time to anyone! Thank you Connie for a great stay!

Owner response:Thank you so much for you awesome remarks about our cabin and your kindness. I wish we had been able to get down there during some of the recent beautiful snows! I love the mountains in the wintertime! Hope you are able to stay again!

You want a great cabin close to everything? This is the one for you. Very nice touches added for the holidays (we stayed in early Jan 2011). It was wonderful having your basic necessities available and not having to bring them with you on your trip. Great views and I would recommend this cabin for any family. We were not disappointed in anything. Loved everything and intend to stay again maybe in the fall. Thank you Connie for offering us your home.

Owner response:Thanks so much for your comments! We do try hard to have all the items that our guests would need while visiting. We always love new suggestions! Hope you are able to visit in the fall. it is a beautiful time of year in the Smokies!

The Lancasters

Guest: Tinabug (Uion Grove, NC)
Date of Stay: 12/09/10 Review Submitted: 12/12/10

I love the Price! This cabin is nice and cozy and kid friendly. The parking is NOT so good. I couldn't use the jacuzzis in either the master bedroom or the other bathroom because black stuff shot out of the jets everytime we turned them on.(used COLD water to fill them up too) I have NEVER stayed in a cabin where we ran out of hot water, but this cabin has some kind of timer where the hot water goes off and on....NOT GOOD! I have four boys, hubby and self. very hard to get everyone bathed. Loved the pool room! Loved the living room and recliner! WIFI was excellent! We had to purchase drinking water, not sure what is in the water but it left our tea cloudy and coffee with stuff floating in it. Hubby said maybe it is hard water, not sure..... But would I stay here again? Oh yes! The master bed is soooo comfy! Master bed is best bed I've ever slept in besides my own!...VERY CLEAN! I didn't find any mice droppings like we normally do in the winter when we get a cabin. Cleaning people earn their money! Thx to the Fulmers! We'll be back I hope!

Owner response:Tina, thanks for your comments about our cabin. The issue with the water was something that happened because of the cold weather and a backflush pipe for the water system was not working. I wish you had called us while you were there as we would have had the water company out there as soon as possible. The cabin has a new complete house water system and our water quality has been perfect until the issue you had. Once again, we would have addressed it immediately if we had known. Also the cabin has an 80 gallon hot water tank so again I am sorry for whatever reason you did not have enough hot water. We strive to be sure all our guests are completely happy and it sounds like your had a great trip but at the same time I am sorry that everything was not as you would have liked. I spoke with our cleaning person who does an outstanding job and she also doublechecked the issue with the jets in the tubs. Thanks for your comments. Connie

We just spent a wonderful 5 nights at your cabin. Everything was as nice or nicer than the pictures portray. The location is excellent, so close to everything, yet so private too.The crowds in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were bad (I know, it's October!), so we spent a lot of time in the mountains and in the cabin. Loved the hot tub, fireplace and pool room.We visited all of the wineries in the area and brought some very good wine back! Thanks Connie, we will definitely contact you when we come back to the Smokys. We talked to some friends about our trip and they already want to visit. I told them to contact me when they are ready and I will give them info for a great place to stay!

Owner response:I am so glad you had a great time. My husband and I just came back from spending a couple days and it always reminds us as to why we love it there so much! I found such an easy walking ( or running as I do) trail that begins in Gatlinburg at traffic light 8 and ends at the entrance to the national park. it runs right along the river and is amazing. it is about 2 miles one way and will be my new favorite running place there. you should try and visit the cabin next year in the Christmas season! It is magical!

I wish there were more people like you in this crazy world! For anyone who doesn't believe that there is a God, they just need to go to the smokies and look around. My family experienced a major tragedy six months ago so being able to get away and relax was great, I really needed it. Oh and did I mention that this cabin was spotless. I'm already trying to figure out when we can go back again. Thanks again!!!

Owner response:Candi, I am so glad you had a chance to relax and to also see God in the mountains! I always come back so refreshed and content from the mountains. Blessings to you this Christmas season and hope you get to visit again. Thank you for such kind remarks!!!

Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 10/25/10

"A Place in Time" cabin was wonderful for my husband and I as we celebrated our 23rd wedding anniverssary!!! We have stayed in numerous cabins in GA, TN, and NC so we know what we like and what we enjoy. The cabin was decorated and furnished with anything and everything you might need for a visit! It is located perfectly for visitors of all types - shoppers, crafters, hikers, and more. We spent one day just walking around the Old Mill Square area, Patriot Park, and The Incredible Christmas Place. You have to see the "country singing" Santa to believe it!!! Our 2nd day, we stayed at the cabin to enjoy our anniversary, but tried a new restaurant called The Partridge and The Pear" which I would highly recommend to couples for a romantic dinner. We ventured up into The Great Smoky Mtn. Nat'l Park for a picnic and day of hiking. You must try the Roaring Fork Motor Trail just outside of Gatlinburg. It has several waterfalls and numerous walking and hiking trails along the way. Our last full day was going to Dollywood......which was fantastic during the Southern Gospel and Harvest Celebration! Tip: Park your car at Patriot Park and take the trolley to and from Dollywood! We even got to see a bear outside of our cabin the day we left........what a surprise!!!!! Thank you, Connie for sharing your cabin with us. You provided a warm and inviting place to call "home" while we were away from our own home !! We will tell our family and friends about your cabin!!!!!

Owner response:Joni, so glad you had a great time. As far as hiking, I am planning to hike Mt Leconte in the spring and I am so excited! You must look that one up! I have just begun to hike abit and I am really excited about this one. We just returned from the cabin for a couple days and had such a refreshing time. Nothing like the mountains to bring in the beginning of the Christmas season and to bring me back down to earth! Blessings to you and thanks for all your nice comments! Connie

Our recent visit

Date of Stay: 09/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/11/10

We recently had the pleasure of spending a few days at this lovely cabin. It was cozy and comfortable, well-decorated and spotless. Practically everything anyone would want was provided. And the view from the back deck was great! The location was perfect. Far enough away to be nice and quiet, but just a short driving distance to everything. Our rental transaction with Connie went seamlessly - very nice to deal with! We'll definitely recommend this cabin to anyone planning a trip to the area, and hope we can visit again soon. Thanks for providing such a relaxing "home away from home"!

Owner response:Sharon, it means so much to me to have a comment such as yours! I really hope you are able to return sometime. It has been really neat this time of year to start to have repeat guests. Last year was our first year of taking our cabin back from a rental company and renting it ourselves. We are able to offer it at such a great rate compared to what they did and we are able to make it more personal! I love getting to feel as though I know our guests and hope to meet all of your expectations and more! Again, thanks for such a great comment. Blessings, Connie

Chris & Connie, Thanks so much for sharing your cabin, we had a nice relaxing vacation!! You have to see the cabin to appreciate the furnishings and all the extras. This cabin is the best!! It's very close to Dollywood, Old Mill restaurant/shops, Patriot Park, shopping, and the list can go on and on. Our favorites restaurants are Old Mill and Calhoun's and we love the fried apple pies & homemade ice cream at the Apple Barn shops. We had a nice drive through Cades Cove, what beautiful scenery God has given for us to enjoy!! Get to know the locals and they will tell you about the back roads to avoid heavy traffic during their busiest seasons. Thanks again for letting us stay!! God Bless You!

Owner response:Thanks for such kind comments on our cabin. You know the Apple Barn and the Old Mill are some of our favorite places to eat! We usually have to stop at the Apple Barn and bring back fritters to family at home when we go down. Cades Cove and the hike to the falls there are also usually on our agenda when we get down. And yes, there are many back roads, you can leave the cabin and get to Gatlinburg without ever going on out on the parkway and can even go through the Arts and Crafts community on the way over. Hope you get to visit again. Christmas time in the Smokies is unforgettable.

We stayed here over May 26-30th 2010, for a girls 40th birthday celebration. We could not have been happier with our decision. This cabin had all the bells and whistles in the kitchen, just like home. The pass thru window in the kitchen to pool room was very convenient for drinks!! =) The rooms are set up so adorable. The hot tub was great after a long day of sightseeing! I recommend Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg as a must. We took the drive through Cades Cove and got great pictures of bear. AMAZING!! I would absolutely stay here again and again. We did kinda get lost trying to find it and NAV doesn't work well out there but if you decide to stay which you should--> food city is a great grocery less than 5 minutes away. FYI- when you turn left as per owners instructions off main city road......it's the 1st traffic light where you turn right to get to the road the cabin resides on which is a couple more miles up the road. We wasted precious time and you shouldn't have to!!!! Take the plunge. You WILL NOT be disappointed...SMOKY MOUNTAINS RULE! GARBAGE KILLS BEARS =) Thank you so much Chris and Connie........Dena, Pattie & Rod =)

Owner response:Sorry for such a late response to your wonderful comments to say Thank You! Guests like you are what makes this so much fun!

We just got home from our visit to A Place In Time (May 18-21 2010). The cabin was just like the pictures--even better! The owner did a great job decorating the cabin. We enjoyed rocking on the front porch and sitting on the back deck. The cabin was close to Dollywood and anywhere else we wanted to go. The cabin was very clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful with all my questions prior to the trip and sent great directions, instructions, prior to us leaving for the cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin to others. We look forward to visitng A Place In Time Again. We really enjoyed eating at The Old Mill, The Old Mill Pottery Cafe and two visits to Cowboys on the Lake ....great places to eat. We had a relaxing time, lots of laughing and more laughing and lots of great food and also some fishing during our visit to A Place In Time.

Owner response:Gerri, Thanks you so much for adding such a nice review for our cabin. It is working with such nice people like you that makes renting our cabin out so enjoyable for us. I hope you get a chance to visit again. As I say often our cabin is always a work in progress. God Bless.

My husband and I stayed in this beautiful cabin from 4-15 thru 4-18-10, and had a wonderful time. This was our first experience using VRBO, and "A Place in Time" certainly set the bar high! All the comforts of home, and a very convenient location. We visited Dollywood, played golf, "outlet shopped", went to Ober Gatlinburg, but the highlight of our excursions was Parrot Mountain! Beautiful gardens and over a thousand exotic birds....fabulous place. Thank you Connie and Chris for your prompt response to all our questions. We would love to visit again!

Owner response:nancy and Dave, I have not visited Parrot Mountain yet as many times as I have been by there! I am going to make a point of doing so the next time we get down to the cabin. It is great to hear it is such a great place as I just love parrots! Have an African Gray named Chandler! Again , thanks for your kind words and it was a please to work with you all. Would love to visit Nashville one of these days real soon! It is on my list of things to do in Tennesee!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend celebrating our 22nd anniversary at your cabin. It was perfect for our needs and much more fully equipped then other cabins we've stayed in. We cook in, so all the extras in the kitches are great to have. I will gladly tell others about "A Place in Time". We pray that your lives have and will be blessed as ours has.

A Place in Time Cabin

Our family of three (Mom/Dad/Teenager) stayed at this lovely cabin at the end of March. Every detail attended to and everything so very inviting! It was like coming into a friend's home for the weekend. We were there before the trees filled in, so the view was different, but still the beautiful smokies were on the horizon for us to see and appreciate. Nearby is Gatlinburg, where you can ice skate (fun!) and we went zip-lining which was a blast, too. The cabin is very close to the main street through Pigeon Forge, so if you like the activities it has to offer, you are minutes away. Or, you are minites away from quieter, more serene and nature-filled adventures. Cades Cove was closed for street repair while we were there, so will have to come back for that beauty. The owners were wonderful. We would recommend the cabin to others and will come again when in the area. Thank you, Fulmers, for making this available to us. It was home away from home!

We had a wonderful time at "A Place in Time". The cabin is very well equipped with many little extras that we haven't found at other cabins such as a nicely supplied kitchen both in terms of cookware and seasonings, wraps, foil, etc. The layout is great and the heart shaped tub was big and well, a heart shaped tub!! We had beautiful weather and there's nothing like sitting, looking at the mountains and taking in God's majesty. A great place to celebrate our 22nd anniversary and we look forward to celebrating our 23rd there as well.

Great Getaway and Wonderful Owners!!!

A Place in Time exceeded our expectations. The view was just amazing. And, while surrounded by other cabins, it somehow felt secluded and very private. The cabin itself is more beautiful than the online pictures convey. Connie has done a great job decorating it so that it feels like home. Besides the decor, everything really is ready for use . . . down to the fully-stocked spice collection in the kitchen! The cabin is extremely clean, maybe spotless would best describe it. We had an amazing time and made some of our best memories yet at A Place in Time. Thank you Connie and Chris for being so great to work with and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful cabin. We look forward to visiting again soon!

My husband and I have stayed in this wonderful cabin for the second time. This time we brought my parents and they loved it as well. The owners go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need. They always ask for input and suggestions in making things even more comfortable and I just can't find anything that needs to be changed! The decorations in the cabin at Christmas are beautiful and it is so close to everything in the area. We use the hot tub every night because the view of stars is so fabulous. Dollywood is always a blast! This is a great PLACE IN TIME!!! We'll be back.

Thank you so much for our little vacation! My wife and I have been to the smokies every year since our anniversary 10 1/2 years ago. Since then we have had 2 beautiful girls to our family. This is Lily's first trip up here and she had a wonderful time! This trip was much needed as I am still recovering from my second back surgery in the past 6 years. It's been very stressful on me and my family as this one left my left leg paralyzed. So it was nice getting away from it all even for a little while. The Lord gives me strength each day and grace and mercy for my family as they see me go through it. Thanks again and may the Lord Bless!

We spent a lovely week at the cabin surrounded by leaves at the peak of color. The cabin was most comfortable and especially clean. Something we appreciated very much since are allergies are severe. We visited several special places in the park, including the Roaring Fork Natural Trail and New Foundland Gap. The Artisan Loop area is also nice and we found a new place to eat there. The Wild Plum Tea Room (Open 10AM-3PM), delicious! Other favorites we enjoyed this trip were The Peddler, Old Mill, and Calhoun's for the catfish. Ice Cream at the Old Mill Creamery was a special treat too. Thanks for sharing a Place in Time with us.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Smokey Mountains. The cabin was great. The decorations were an added bonus, since my wife collects Bears. Great place to just get away. You sure can't tell you are just a couple of miles from town. Wonderfully Peaceful! HAD A GREAT TIME!

My family has stayed in this cabin on 3 different occasions now and are already excited about planning a stay for next summer. We absolutely love that this cabin feels like home! We are so comfortable and feel right at home in this cabin. We love going to nearby Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg during the Christmas season and visiting Dollywood & Splash Country with the kids. The kids also love the summer fun at Ober Gatlinburg. Thanks for a wonderful cabin and we can't wait to visit again!

My family and I have visited this cabin a few times, and each time is always better than the last! You feel right at home as soon as you pull up, and it truely is a magical place. The view of the Smokey Mountains from the rear deck takes your breath away. My one recommendation is to make sure you visit Dollywood. It's great for kids and adults! My husband and I took our 3 year odl and she had a fantastic time. We highly recommend this cabin and will certainly be going back in the near future!

Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind comments. We work very hard to make everyones stay at our cabin feel as special as we can. We are very proud of it and want others to enjoy it as much as we do.
