A spacious 7000 sq ft beach front villa located between the two small towns of Cabarete and Sosua. Tranquility, safety, full-time private maid service. Beautiful master suite, with second floor bedroom with its own private patio and full ocean/beach view. Four additional bedrooms, three with King-sized beds, one with two Full-sized beds, are located in a separate guest house that is essentially connected to the main villa just a few steps through a beautiful tropical interior/exterior garden. (Six bedrooms total at this villa) The large private pool and spa is perfect for a cool-down or a warm-up.
The large "Yoga Room" on the second floor provides a private space for Yoga and meditation, and a complete surround sound theater/media room when you prefer that to stretching.
A security guard at the front gate and on-site security ensures that your visit to Villa Gordon will be as safe as it is beautiful and relaxing. The best surfing and kite-surfing in the Caribbean is just a short walk down the beach. Personal chef services can be arranged, so who has to worry about cooking? There is something for everyone to enjoy.
The Dominican Republic is known for its beautiful weather, without end,
because of its almost year-round warmth and sunshine, some people refer to the Dominican
Republic's climate as "endless summer." The temperature on the island remains fairly consistent at around 77 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. Generally, the whole
island is sunny with tropical weather. The change in seasons is determined more by the annual rainfall then by the temperature. May to October are considered the summer months on the Dominican Republic. This is usually the hottest time of year. Highs reach
about 87 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, with the nighttime low around 72 degrees Fahrenheit. During the high season, the humidity is low, and there is less rainfall on the island. Evenings are noticeably cooler during November to April in comparison to the summer months.

We had an amazing week at this beautiful North Coast Villa, with direct beach access in Hideaway Beach between Sea Horse Ranch and Kite Beach/Cabarete. Location was ideal for branching off to one of the many sites of interest, but mostly, you wanted to stay home and enjoy the beautiful views, the sandy beach walks, the huge hot tub and pool, the high end multi-zone audio system, to mention just a few of the highlights. The staff was extremely friendly and responsive at every level providing a 5 star rock star experience. If you like chilling out with a cold drink, great food, and watching peacocks prance across your backyard in between dips in the hot tub, pool, or surf - then this is your place!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful comments. I am glad that you as well as many others have found this to be one of their favorite vactaions, ever. Gordon

Christmas Holiday at Villa Gordon

We rented this lovely house on the beach for our family Christmas holiday, 10 days. Our group spanned three generations, from grandfather to 2yo, with three married couples, family friend, and 16yo teenage boy. Our interests ranged from surfing on the gorgeous ocean just outside the yard (a number of excellent surf rental shacks are just a mile away), to horseback riding on the beach, to swimming, snorkeling, and sleeping in the sun, to reading on an upstairs balcony overlooking the pool, sea, and fields next door, to driving 2 hrs to 21-Waterfalls and hiking/sliding our way down. The setting was idyllic. A few minutes walk down the road, a restaurant on the beach provided Christmas Eve dinner and a number of meals with fresh fish and creative salads. The 10 minute drive into Cabarete and the 15 minute drive to the grocery store involved the harrowing roads characteristic of DR. We focused on who noticed the most odd scooter cargo: the washing machine on the back of one beat out the 100-lb bags of rice on another. What a balancing act! The house and community includes armed guards who patrol day and night - unusual at first, but quickly part of the fabric and tranquility. The 2yo learned every name and vice versa. Some days we dined at home, to lovely, local meals prepared by the house staff at our request (with ingredients we purchased in the local stores). Other days, we went to the local restaurant, and others, headed into Cabarete. The staff did laundry and cleaned the house every day. Minor challenges came up, typical of a third world locale, e.g., a sporadic pause in water to the community after heavy rain (resolved within an hour or two), drain pipes with roots (happened to clog entirely when we were there, but resolved within a day by a team that dug up the pipe and replaced it), hot tub that just wouldn't heat for a number of days but did eventually (a missing part after a repair prior to our arrival was delayed). A path behind the restaurant quickly turns into a dirt road that heads east along the coast, past the surf shacks, and along the fields with horses, cows and the occasional chicken toward Cabarete -- ideal for morning or evening runs, bike rides, walks, horseback riding. A similar path follows the coast to the west for a while, but without turning into a back road. In short, Villa Gordon is an idyllic retreat, at the edge of a lovely sea, great for surfing and swimming, lovely site for a family or a romantic retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your lovely review of Villa Gordon. As you explained, a replacement part easily corrected the initial hot tub heater issue that was unfortunately delayed over a holiday weekend. Villa Gordon truly is a destination that can be enjoyed by both the very young and the elderly alike. Gordon

The property was beautiful and spacious. Perfect for large families. Extremely safe gated with security. Private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms for each. Breathtaking beachfront house with incredible sunrise and sunsets everyday. Weather was amazing even in Dec/Jan. We wore shorts and the family enjoyed ocean swimming as well as the amazing pool and spa. Located between two towns that had anything we needed and only a short distance to larger Puerto Plata. We also took a trip over the mountain to Santiago. The ride and view were absolutely breath-taking. We will certainly keep this on our short lists of places to return and enjoy. The staff was very helpful and Peggy the property manager was always a phone call away and willing to help or give advice about tours and the many things the Dominican had to offer. We also would highly recommend the 27 waterfalls trip. It was something we will always remember. We are thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity to spend a week at Villa Gordon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your review and comments about this beautiful villa. I am glad that it was what you expected and more, and that your whole family enjoyed your stay. It is a peaceful yet exciting getaway. Gordon

The villa is a beautiful home that backs up right on to a very lightly populated beach. Hideaway Beach is a great little community with extremely helpful staff and great location. A ten minute cab ride has you in Cabarete, where you can shop for souvenirs, eat delicious food, and relax on the beach (while being relentlessly approached by vendors selling worthless items). Villa Gordon provides a relaxing atmosphere-- the master bedroom windows look out to the ocean and you can open a sliding door and walk right into the pool in the back yard. Aside from a few small power outages, being in the house is like being in any modern home in the US-- great design and a fully-functional kitchen. All in all, this is a great place to go to relax and forget about the real world for however long you are there.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review, and i am glad that your group has been one of many friends and families alike that have enjoyed Villa Gordon. As for the beach vendors in the towns, that is fortunately something that NEVER happens on the very much more private-like beach right out the back yard of Villa Gordon. The Cabarete beaches and beachront restaurants, however, are still worth the experience! I hope that you have time to return someday. Warm regards. Gordon

What a wonderful home & location. Villa Gordon is absolutly beautiful & was comfortable for everyone.( All 14 fo us). We spent from 9am to midnight hanging out at the covered seating area by the pool, listening to our favorite Ipod music. Joanni was absolutely great. My family is still talking about her cooking, even the picky eaters. We basically had the beach to ourselves which is fine with us. The surfing beach is a short walk around the corner &. the guys renting the surf boards were very helpful regarding surfing conditions. After the third day we had to force ourselves to leave the house & go do something & that we did. Started with a 10 minute walk down the beach for some of the best spa treatments & massages we ever have experienced, then we had a day of boating & scuba diving, then had a day of horsebackriding with Rancho Montana that instead of the beach we went into the mountains, across rivers & met plenty of locals. It was truly a wonderful vacation. Thank you very much to Gordon's family & his very capable staff for sharing your home with us. A special shout out to James & Miguel at Chez Arsenios for their service , delicious food & drink!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you so much, Rose, for your comments. I also appreciated the "group picture" with all the happy faces and smiles. I hope that you will have an opportunity to visit again some time soon. Warm regards, Gordon

Wow! What a beautiful place. Thank you Gordon for sharing your magnificent home with us. The house is easily as beautiful as the pictures portray-the tile and wood work are spectacular but what also is spectacular is the view. There are windows and decking everywhere. The maids were tremendous. They provided clean towels and sheets daily and also did our laundry and prepared authentic Dominican lunches. What was really great is that I did not wash 1 dish all week! We were really pampered. Gordon was very patient with answering all of my questions - and believe me I had many. I was well prepared to go into a foreign country with his input. The restaurant on site was delicious and we often took advantage of their specials. And we could walk there and the help was very courteous and entertaining. The ocean out front was always a surprise. There were days that we could snorkel and other days that we could surf. There was always something to watch. Sometimes there would be horses. Other times a spearfisherman and often there were surfers of all kinds. At night the guards would even prepare a bonfire. Just East (5 minute walk on the beach) was an entertaining spot where we rented surfboards. But what was more impressive is that on the weekend they had windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing competitions with music. Very entertaining. We want to go back to learn how to kiteboard. It looked a little too technical to learn in a day. The grocery stores carry many American foods. Cheerios, Hagan Daz, Peter Pan peanut butter and Lays potato chips were favorites in our house. With picky kids it was one of my main concerns. We had massages and manicures and pedicures at the house, tried cascading, horse back riding on the beach, zip-lining, snorkeling and go-carting. We even learned a little about the island. A very memorable vacation and this house really made it great! Thanks again, Gordon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Diane for your kind words. I am always glad to hear over and over how much my guests have enjoyed Villa Gordon. It does provide something for everyone. Warm regards, Gordon

We stayed at this villa with our 3 young children and extended family. We absolutely loved it. It had plenty of space for everyone so we were not on top of each other. The guest house rooms were like being in a seperate hotel room. The beach was beautiful and my 3 year old and 18 month old twins loved playing in the water. Everyone on the resort were very nice and bent over backwards to accomodate us with anything we inquired about. Anne at Chez Arsenio was extremely helpful and even special ordered conch for our group which Arsenio used to make a special dinner for us. Everyone in our group had a great time. We would highly recommend enquiring about the maid making breakfast and lunch for you she is an extremely good cook. Do not worry if you do not speak any Spanish, none of us spoke more than a couple of words but we still did fine communicating with Johanne (the maid) and the guards who spoke little English. If it is your first time visiting, having the guard may be a bit intimidating at first, but they soon become part of the background. We would like to thank Gordon for letting us rent his home and hope to be able to visit again next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Shannon, Thank you for your kind words. I am so glad that this beautiful beach front villa had something for all to enjoy, both young and old. Warm regards, Gordon.

A wonderful vacation spot that offered everything we could have asked for! We spent a week with our toddlers enjoying the beautiful house with pool and Jacuzzi (which allowed us to regulate the heat and serve as mini pool for mini swimmers!) The beach is at your doorstep and is perfectly secluded. We spent mornings building sandcastles and enjoyed a nice breakfast and coffee at the nearby restaurant. There was more than enough room at Villa Gordon and everything is thought of. Even daily help around the house and kitchen can be arranged and truly makes for a real vacation time. The staff takes fantastic care of you and the house: even doing your laundry daily and playing with your children! With kite surfing lovers in our group and the need for a relaxing time in the sun with little children, we spent a week in paradise with nothing left to wish for! We are already talking about coming back!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review, Natalie. I hope that this was your best vacation ever, and I am delighted that your young children had a great time too. Warm regards, Gordon

Every year our group of 10-12 friends takes a trip somewhere new. This year we chose the Dominican Republic, and specifically the Cabarete area, to give surfing a try. The pictures of Villa Gordon on VRBO led us to believe we were making a good lodging choice ... we had no idea ... We arrived to Hideaway Beach via 15-20 minute taxi ride from POP and were graciously greeted by Grissell at the front gate. She welcomed us and directed us to the property. The taxi made it's way through the property and we pulled up to a gorgeous villa with the sound of the waves crashing in the background. Each of the 6 bedrooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed with satellite tv, mini-fridge, remote controlled air conditioners, and their own private bathrooms. The master bedroom was amazing with a huge luxurious bathroom. The secondary (Queen) bedroom in the main home was also quite large and has a very nice balcony/patio with table and chairs overlooking the grounds and the ocean. The home is set up so that you can truly experience comfortable "outdoor living". The gourmet kitchen opens up to the outdoor living space where we spent much of our time leisurely hanging out when we weren't trying to surf. The pool is large and perfectly maintained and the hot tub is huge! 12 people can easily lounge in it. The grassy backyard is large and extends to the edge of the ocean. From there it was just a 5-7 minute walk down the beach to the local surfing instruction schools. As though all of this wasn't enough, two very outgoing and gracious helpers - Yohanny and Dulka - looked after us throughout our stay. They would go to the market with us, cook, clean, and answer any questions we might have had. All in all, we could not have asked for more. Villa Gordon was the perfect vacation getaway and I would recommend it to anyone looking to escape to the sun and the sand of the DR.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words, Trevor. I am glad that you and your group enjoyed your vacation and Villa Gordon. It is a beautiful place, and we love it there, too! Warm regards, Gordon

I took my girfriend, family and friends to Villa Gordon and let me just say it is WAY better then we ever would have expected. We rented two vans and stayed there for 8 nights doing everything from perfect beginner surf out the back door (only surf break on north coast!), kitesurfing lessons, scuba diving and spear fishing, canyoning where Jurassic Park was filmed, rolling cigars, visiting coffee plantations, relaxing on the beach, playing volleyball against the locals every afternoon and winning! Now...the best part? Villa gordon. MUCH MUCH NICER and LARGER than pictures show....you will be blown away. 2 full time chefs, prepared some of the best food we have ever had. Two of the sweetest, kindest maids cooked bfast for us each morning with a smile on their face and broughts us drinks by the pool/beach while keeping the house cleaned eveyday, fresh pna coladas cold beers and amasing snacks around the clock....it was actually sad for them and for us when we left as we conded so much. THe house setup is very comfortable too, as each group has their own space to relax, TV, wireless internet etc. We brought a VOIP phone down and help webmeetings and confrence calls for work during the say (which i dont recomend unless you have to) We had massues come evey day and give great massages Eveyone in my group said it was the best vacation of their lives (and most of us have been everywhere in the world that;s worth visiting) Last hting...we went the worst time of the year (sept) and it was still amazing weather! Oh yeah...really the last thing.....private security guards make you feel implortant and safe and they are some of the friendliest I have ever met, offering to build you bond fires on the beach each night. We looked everywhere in the DR, and decided, this is defintly the nicest house and best location on its own AMAZING private beach. I will never forget the first morning when I woke up and walked off the property onto a private perfect whitesand beach with turquise water, i felt like I had just walked into a magazine....Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you John for your kind review. I am glad that your whole group enjoyed Villa Gordon as have many other guests. Many do not take the time to write a review, and passing allong the good word about this beautiful villa is much appreciated. There is so much to do there, and so little that you need to do (if that is what you wish). I hope that you and your group plan a return trip in the future.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: It took only one invitation from friends to visit the DR, and we were hooked. We built on the beach of the North shore near Cabarete, because this was a safe, tranquil, pristine location. Beautiful ocean, excellent restaurants nearby and at the property. Surfing, kite-surfing. Friendly people, and the most relaxing environment possible. Definitely not a tourist trap, and not like the a typical "I look like every other Caribbean Tourist Resort." It just could not be better. We just had to be there!
Why the Owner Chose Cabarete:
Beautiful, Tranquil, Safe, Relaxing, The perfect place to go for vacation.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
From the master suite you can see the ocean. Waking up with that view, and walking the short distance through the back yard to have coffee at the marble table at the top of the grassy dune is the best way for us to start the day. This is a real "low blood pressure zone" location.
Dining Information
On the resort property, itself, there is a grass-roofed cabana bar and restaurant,
Chez Arsenio. Arsenio is an excellent chef, and will make anything you wish.
About 5 kilometers to the East is Cabarete, and there are multiple beach front restaurants and clubs (including an Irish Pub of all things), with table seating on the beach, local musicians, very wide beach, an occasional bonfire, and very interesting people watching. Many of the establishments become “discos” late at night. There are casinos very near by. There is a DVD rental store located on the near side of Cabarete from the villa making access to DVD rental movies convenient. This is a private, peaceful location in a security gated area. The undeveloped land immediately adjacent to Villa Gordon will usually have on display early in the morning, a burro (local celebrity) with his attendant white egrets, an occasional American Kestrel perched high on a branch of an adjacent dead tree, and perhaps the horses that are boarded at the resort for riding on the beach will be grazing there as well.
You can walk to the cabana bar/restaurant to rendezvous with others for a late afternoon tropical beverage, and to eat. This is a small resort area and the beach is also very unpopulated. There are many sails in the sky on windy afternoons as this is a very popular kite surfing area.
The “subdivision” is gated. The guards and maintenance people are the friendliest you will ever meet.
