Come stay at our classic summertime beach cottage for a relaxing time any time of year. The house features a large, sunny, enclosed and air-conditioned family room, perfect for curling up with a good book or as a play area for the kids. You’ll love gazing out the windows of the dining nook on the back of the house, overlooking one of the many South Bethany canals.
Step out onto the attached deck and catch the breezes from under the umbrella, or enjoy a bucket of crabs on the rustic old picnic table in the back yard. When you get back from the beach, rinse yourself and your gear off in the covered outside shower. Time your evening barbecue on the deck so that you don’t miss the beautiful sunset looking west down the canal.
Two of the home’s 3 bedrooms are outfitted with Queen beds, while the smallest of the 3 contains a day bed with a pop-up trundle bed underneath that is easily deployed to make twin beds. There is also a full-sized futon on the enclosed porch which can accommodate 1 or 2 additional vacationers. The simple kitchen is open and airy, and is outfitted with most of the typical amenities, including a gas oven and range and a refrigerator with an automatic filtered, cold water dispenser inside. Five window air conditioners distributed throughout the house keep the inside cool and comfortable. Ceiling fans in the kitchen, the breakfast nook, and all of the bedrooms enhance air circulation for added comfort. For TV/movie fans, there are 2 televisions, each with its own VCR and DVD player to complement the basic cable service.
South Bethany, along with Bethany Beach just to the north and Fenwick Island just to the south, are centrally located along the Delaware-Maryland Atlantic seaboard, and bill themselves as Delaware’s “Quiet Resorts.” They are famously “family-friendly,” boasting clean, uncrowded, life-guarded beaches. The whole family will love strolling on the quaint Bethany Beach boardwalk, or taking in the free, live entertainment that is provided there from time to time.
Fenwick Island features a water park, numerous miniature golf courses, and movie theatres for family enjoyment. From our house you also are close to the wide variety of places and experiences that the Delaware-Maryland shore has to offer: Ocean City, MD to the south, with its huge boardwalk and amusement park; the storied nightlife of Dewey Beach, DE just up the coast; and the TAX-FREE outlet shopping in Rehoboth, not to mention its many unique shops and its own boardwalk and nightlife. You can even slip over to the New Jersey shore by means of the ferry from Lewes, DE, just north of Rehoboth!
