Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1995
I am an entrepreneur in healthcare technology who loves developing and restoring unique properties. The Thimble Islands are very unique. I have been an owner of my property since 1995.
Why the Owner Chose Branford
My parents found the Thimble Islands in the early 60's and we as children have very fond memories of the islands. I returned as an adult and after renting, purchased my 4 acre property on Pot Island in 1995. I have been there with my family every summer since. I also have for rent a smaller cottage with boathouse on the same property.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Being on the island provides spiritual renewal due to the magnificent views of water, land, and nature. The place has a Norman Rockwell feeling to it and where time has truly stopped and one can relax, read, socialize, cook, exercise, kayak, boat, swim, sail, fish, dance....and all without leaving the island.

Family Reunion/Anniversary Celebration

Our celebration on Pot Island was fantastic. The restored historic hotel worked out perfectly with plenty of well appointed, charming bedrooms for the extended family. On the first evening we had a casual barbecue with family members cooking together in the large well equipped kitchen. On the next evening, there was a formal catered dinner in the dining room preceded by cocktails and ceremony on the spacious, dramatic porch overlooking the water at sunset. The decks and surrounding grounds were great for relaxing and chating with the family. In addition the island was a seaside adventure for the youngsters. A real hit! Our whole event on Pot Island was just fantastic! Thanks to the owner for maintaining a beautiful property well landscaped and decorated in style and good taste. This is a one-of-a-kind retreat for large groups! I would recommend this property to others desiring a stay at an unusual island close to shore and accessible by water taxi and private boats. The owner's dock worked out well for two power boats, kayaks (guests paddled out from Stony Creek) and the local water taxi which was necessary for transporting goods and folks...all easily arranged. The owner was helpful in all of these arrangements and was very knowledgeable about the area.
Owner response:This re-union to celebrate a long and happy marriage was organized by the "children" who brought everyone together from the east and west coast to celebrate. It was truly a heart-warming event covering several days and the best possible use of the island facilities.

80th birthday celebration

What a fantastic place! My family rented the house for my 80th birthday. There were 18 of us ranging in age from 5 to 83. Though a hurricane threatened and we arrived a day later than planned, each and every moment was perfect! The views defy imagination - from every window and every path - there were vistas of unimaginable beauty. We have many excellent cooks in the family and being able to prepare gourmet meals is a priority. The kitchen left nothing to be desired - big space, design, pans, knives, etc. etc. Sleeping, playing - pool and ping pong - books games and more. It was a fantastic stay. The only problem was having to leave. We could have stayed for ever.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.
