Located in Manset, it is an easy walk to the picturesque harbor with its working docks, boat rental service, boat ramp, and mail boat/ferry services to several islands. We are close to the "Seawall", Bass Harbor Lighthouse, an Oceanarium, several lobster pounds, Acadia Mountain and many other exceptional hiking trails for all abilities. Echo Lake is a 10-minute drive. Part of Acadia, it offers a sand beach, changing rooms and fine swimming. The town of Southwest Harbor is two miles away and has shops, restaurants, Post Office, library, bicycle and kayak rentals along with a hardware and grocery store. When you are not out and about, the clean, nicely appointed, air-conditioned accommodations will provide relaxing comfort.
Yes, this is the "quiet side" of MDI. The other side, (about a 25-minutes drive), has Bar Harbor with its many shops and restaurants. Along the way you will find entrances to the popular Acadia Park Loop Road with Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond House and many trail heads.
