The rental home is in the center of a 200 acre mountainside estate property. It has been renovated to maximize the views from each room. Most rooms face southeast and look upon the back side of Overlook Mountain. You can also see to the south as far as New Paltz and beyond on a clear day. Every season and weather condition is spectacular to see from the house. Below the front lawn is a fenced in 20x40 foot heated swimming pool with it's own cabana. Below that is a park-like area with a screened in gazebo. The pool is for your private use. The owner/caretaker lives in a house located behind the main house. Your privacy will be respected. It is assumed that you are here to get away from it all, but someone is here if you desire company or need information.
Uphill from the houses, there are several barns and 9 resident chickens who will be glad to supply you with big fresh eggs during the laying season. There are lovely wooded trails for walking, including a hike to a stone quarry and a walk up on the ridge. The driveway is 1/2 mile long, with no other houses in sight or within earshot.
The central part of the house was built in the late 1800's and comprises the living room and sun porch downstairs, with two small bedrooms, a large bedroom with non-working stone fireplace and double bed, and a full bath upstairs. At one end of this central area is the dining room, the huge eat-in kitchen, and another glassed in porch with an additional dining/sitting area and a Steinway grand piano. There is an outside dining terrace off the kitchen with the best view on the property. At the other end of the house, the entrance way hall leads to the living room. Off this hallway is another guest room with a queen bed, full bathroom, and efficiency kitchenette area. Above this is the master bedroom suite, which includes a queen bed, a private bathroom with jetted tub and separate tiled shower, a large walk in closet, elevator access, a separate outside entrance, and a small library.
If you are interested in a winter vacation, be assured that the driveway will be plowed, sanded, and otherwise maintained by us. We have all the necessary equipment and experience. An all wheel drive vehicle is recommended in winter.

Why the Owner Chose Woodstock
Woodstock and the surrounding area is blessed with beauty, art, exciting positive energy, interesting people, and lots of great restaurants and nearby adventures. It is such a sanctuary for the soul. I relocated to this area from NYC in 1969 (Could it be that I was a hippy?) There has always been an influx of interesting refugees from the city. I think this is because nature is so lush and untainted here and yet cultural stimulation is within easy reach.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The most striking thing about this property (I call it Bristol Hill), is the scenery. Photos do not do it justice. Sit on the terrace and watch the reflection of the setting sun on the back of Overlook Mountain. It is as healing as a meditation retreat. The stillness is only broken by the chirping birds that abound here. You may see wild turkeys, deer with their fawns, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, incredible cloud formations...What you mostly will not see is other people. There are trails to hike, a pool to relax in, a ramshackle tennis court with lots of excuses for missed shots, a pool table for rainy days and outside dining for sunny afternoons. If you are a pianist or a student of the piano, please come and play the Steinway O in the breakfast room. You really don't have to go anywhere, but if you do, Woodstock Center is just 10 minutes away.
Natural rock formations make a unique and scenic swimming hole for those in the know. Located just down the road from your vacation home on Hutchin Hill.
