We stayed at the cabin over Christmas 2011 and had a wonderful time. We just wanted to get away by ourselves, with our two small dogs, and this turned out to be the perfect place for it. During the days we scouted around northern Wyoming and southern Montana, arriving back to the cabin around 4:30 each afternoon just before darkness fell. We'd start the fire in the wood burning stove, have supper and then each grab a dog and a blanket and spend the evening on the couch and easy chair. The property was just as it was represented to be and the owner was extremely helpful in the rental process and in answering questions. People in Cody were very friendly, even on Christmas Day where we had a great holiday meal at the Irma Hotel! We would certainly recommend this property to others and hope to stay there again ourselves.

We booked the ranch from Scotland in the UK hoping we had made a good choice for a base to visit Yellowstone - well we did and in spades! Having road tripped from GA with our friend we all three whooped with delight to see a genuinely rustic cabin, just the right size for 2 plus one and with all the amenities we could want. The cabin is approximately 30-40 minutes north of Cody but this is not problematic - once you are at the ranch you struggle to 'go away'. We spent 2 days at the ranch, 2 days in Cody and 2 days in Yellowstone. Our favourite times were at the end of a day with two of us watching the sun go down behind the mountain range in one direction whilst one of us kept watch for the deer in the corral in the other direction! Supplies are best brought in from Cody as the C-Store may not have basic groceries in stock. Plus points: rustic but comfortable, surrounding landscape and views stunning, broadband robust (not wifi though), bonfire area with cut wood. Comfortable beds. Minor issues: quite far out of town but once you arrive you don't want to go anywhere anyway! BBQ grill was portable type and too small, flies could be bothersome inside if you left doors and windows in in August like we did! Negatives: honestly cannot think of any. Would return tomorrow if it was possible. This property lives up to it's description so don't expect a breakfast bar and a whirlpool bath - it is cosy, comfortable and a great base for Cody (superb location in its' own right) , the Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph Highway, Yellowstone East and Northeast entrance (NE is where you will see most wildlife) and is just sublime!! Thank you Debbi for all your assistance and reassuring emails - we are now back home in Scotland with photographs that'll make our coworkers and family quite green with envy - wild west adventures right enough!
Owner response:These renter's were delightful guest's! I very much enjoyed the information on Scotland & detail's of William Wallace-Braveheart! It is wonderful to give them an opportunity to experience our country-Wild West Style!! I hope they will find their way back to Wyoming again. On another note- we do have wi-fi but, it has been acting up lately-phone co. working on it. There is another bar-b-q grill on order as our large one blew away!!

We had a wonderful time at the Go Away! Charming, unique, cozy, inviting and comfortable are ways I would describe our accomodations! The log cabin itself is like living history. It was similar in construction to many historical cabins in the area, but with modern amenities. The view is remarkable and different in every direction and changes throughout the day. Sitting on the beautiful wrap around deck, we saw mule deer, antelope, mountain goats and lots of horses. I would love to go back in the wintertime to see how everything changes. We stayed at the Go Away for a week and spent several days in Yellowstone, taking the Bear Tooth Pass into the NE entrance and the road through Cody to the Eastern entrance, both of which are beautiful! We enjoyed our time in Cody and some of the other area towns but always got side-tracked on our way back to the cabin by the wildlife and beautiful views! Our group included Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Dad and twin 13 year old daughters. We all enjoyed the cabin immensely and in different ways! The cabin's owner was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful and sincerely wanted us to feel at home! Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. We will definitely return, if we can!
Owner response:I hope this family will return and enjoy a complimentary day for a return visit! They were truly thoughtful guests!

My boyfriend and I and another couple road-tripped through Wyoming this May, and stayed at the cabin as our last stop. The weather didn't obey in that last leg of the journey, and it rained pretty hard while we were at the Go Away. Even so, the place was stunning. Really the best we'd been at, by far. The cabin is so well-hewn, really feels authentic. The landscape is pristine and awe-inspiring. I can't wait to go back and stay longer. Next time, we'll definitely cook at the cabin. It's well- set up for it, and so cozy!! Rain be darned, it was a 1st Class VRBO experience.
Owner response:I am very happy Jenna & friends & family had a great experience at "The Go Away ", I am pleased that others can enjoy the mountain's and ranch experience. I did offer Jenna a complimentary stay next Spring to compensate for their rainy day!

We spent four nights in March and had everything from tee shirt weather to snow and wind that shook the cabin to its core. This is a delightful place with deer so prolific that they seem like lawn ornaments. It is very clean with a fully stocked kitchen and lots of blankets and towels. The decorations have a true Wyoming feel and the cabin is modern in its conveniences but still maintains a "wild west" feel. If you are tall (over 6 foot)you will do some ducking under the log beams which adds to the fun. The owner is fabulous to work with. It is about 10 minutes from "The Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary" in Clark and about 1/2 an hour from both Cody and Powell. We hope to stay again. Mark and Linda
Owner response:When I read the reviews from my quests, I am so happy that I decided to share my "Go Away"spot. It feels good to know that others can experience the mountains, the West, and enjoy the charm of the cabin, as I did when I first saw it.

This is a unique, wonderful property! The property provides privacy and great views! Our family loved the authentic log cabin and particularly enjoyed the sitting areas on the wrap around porch. One night we had a campfire and the nighttime sky was amazing! This property is about 35-40 minutes from Cody, Wyoming so we spent some time in Cody too. To top it off, the property owner is extremely helpful and accomodating! We've stayed at a number of vacation rentals and give this owner and property our highest recommendation!

My husband and I stayed here six nights in July 2010 and it's a perfect location for exlporing the area. The cabin is delightful and well appointed. I'm a little late on writing this review but please do not hesitate if you're considering this location for exploring this part of Wyoming and Montana. Some of our Jeep adventures included: The Clarks Fork Canyon, Trek to Bald Mountain from Chief Joseph Hwy, Sunlight Valley, Beartooth Pass, Lake Abundance via Lulu Pass, Lamar Valley in Yellowstone, Bighorn Canyon Recreation Area and the Pryor Mountain Ice Caves; all within a short drive from the cabin. The owner was very responsive when making our arrangements and as friendly as could be. The cabin is very clean and well maintained plus having a washer and dryer on site is priceless for us because we had another week of travel after leaving Clark before heading home.

I can't say enough about this cabin, or the owner. This is as western as it gets. On one hand you have the nostalgia of an old cabin. On the other, you have wi-fi, microwave, tv, laundry facilities, and a telephone. The owner is very communicative and prompt with answers to questions. This is a great place to stay! Bring your cameras.

This cabin is a great place to get away from it all. Quiet and remote, it is an old-time authentic log cabin with modern amenities. It is set up quite well for horses and there is a NF access just up the road. Do yourself a favor and lay in some supplies and spend some time here.

My vacation at "The Go Away Ranch" was nothing short of fabulous. The house had all of the basic necessities, as well as a wood burning stove to combat the chilly evenings with a huge wood pile very near the house. The house was clean and well maintained, as was the property. The views from the porch were magnificent, and we enjoyed seeing the mule deer on the ridge in the mornings. As an additional favor, the rocking chair on the front porch was the perfect place to watch the sunrise. The remote location was exactly for what I was looking; which allowed wide open spaces for the 2 dogs to wander around and spend time in this very pet friendly house and property. The description and pictures on the website were accurate and the views which were confirmed to be beautiful. The owner was extremely helpful in providing information about the local area in advance of our visit, including dog friendly hiking areas. Edelweiss Saloon was the closest place to get gas, beverages, and food (frozen pizza & burgers) with friendly people. I highly recommend this property, and I am already looking forward to the next time I can visit. Notes: (1) AT&T cell phones do not get a signal at the ranch (2) the ceiling beams are low in the house
Owner response:Most cell phones will not get reception in the cabin but outside at the top of the hill or bottom of the driveway there is. There is a land line phone also. The beams are low ( 6' 4") by the kitchen entrance & the dining room.

We had a wonderful stay at the Go Away Ranch. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for peace and quiet, and a lovely place to stay. Cabin is very cute and has everything you need. It is a bit isolated from civilization but the mountains and surroundings are beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. Very, very relaxing & peaceful with beautiful surroundings. The sunsets and sunrises are amazing and that doesn't even begin to cover the stars at night...literally millions! If you're looking to get away from it all, this is definitely the place. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful. Make sure to check out the prime rib at the Irma Hotel and Buffalo Bill Cultural Center.
