This property has been in the Smith family for 80 years. The family house is near the rental. The rental has been occupied only about 24 months since it was built in 1988. My mother would stay there but now is in a nursing home and I obtained title to the property. We love this property and it is very precious to us and will always stay in our family.

A great place to stay. Located right on the lake, we enjoyed watching all the activites on the lake. The cottage was wonderful all that we expected, The kitchen was well stocked and the whole unit was clean. Very easy to get to with a lot to do and see in the area.We had coffee under the covered patio every morning and ended our day the same way watching the sunset. Lynn and Greg were very friendly and were available if needed. We found this to be a very relaxing vacation and are looking foreward to returning in 2012, We highly recomend this cottage if you are planning a trip to this area.

WOW...what a great place to stay! I rented the cottage in July as a gift to my mother for her 80 birthday. It turned out not only to be perfect for her, but for me as well. Fabulous sunsets, easy access, a beautiful, quiet and friendly environment which appealed to both generations. There is a covered patio which was perfect for the small party we had with the relatives, the kitchen is well equipped as is really the entire house. The owners who are just lovely, kind and generous and ready to help in any situation while being very careful not to disturb our privacy at any time. Lets not forget the fishing either, Greg let us take their row boat out any time we wanted, even mom caught some fish. I travel very much for my job and often rent homes in various parts of the world, this beautiful little cottage will remain in my memory as one of the nicest homes I have ever had the privilage to stay at. Enjoy...I certainly will again soon.

Sorry this is so late, but our travels after leaving your cottage have stretched our time and energy. Taking the photos off our cameras has helped us relive the spectacular holiday we spent at your awesome cottage. Sunsets as remarkable as the Caribbean, fresh veggies, (ah the corn) remarkable cheeses, homemade pies and Amish goodies available nearby all nourished us beyond expectations. The full kitchen made simple meals easy and the dishes and glasses provided were colorful and classy. Your warm welcome and genuine hospitality set us at ease. Although you lived nearby, you never interfered; only helpful and understanding. Our family and friends who visited us made many memories laughing and playing games on the pleasant, bug free patio with sufficient and lovely chairs and tables. Even our old boat got to sit safely beached on shore. Our 2 yr. old grandsons could play safely in the shallow water's edge. They handled the stairs well and even got some soccer play in too! Considering it is such a large lake, we were amazed that there was very little water traffic which allowed for a quiet restful atmosphere after our guests left. The nearby marina was no issue either. A surprise enhancement was the Chautauqua Institute Carillon heard on moments when the wind was still. Just beautiful! We even enjoyed fireworks across the lake one evening. OK, we did not catch any supper large fish, but did enjoy that so many bites did continue to feed our fishing instincts!! Even the needs we suggested were responded to immediately. Great hosts….Friendly atmosphere quiet retreat. Praying we can return next year!!

This cottage is a gem! We stayed July 25-August 1, 2009 and loved every minute of it. The location is great, a very private piece of lakefront to sit back, relax and enjoy Lake Chautauqua. This is a splendid location on the lake, shallow entry for launching kayaks & canoes, the swimming was good. The cottage is attractive, very clean and supplied with all the necessities. The queen bed in bedroom #1 was comfy and it was nice to check current events with direct TV & wireless internet. Feel free to email us if you have any questions. Greg and Lynn are great and they were very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay, it was a great experience.
