Year Purchased: 1993
We have two oceanfront homes 8 miles north of Bodega Bay, California, with a private stairway leading to a semi-private beach with interesting tide pools, beautiful colorful stones for collecting, and a constantly-changing performance of waves crashing on outcroppings. We love the property, as do our 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 11 grand dogs. Not everyone comes at once :-) We have a very loyal following of renters who cherish the property as much as we do. There is great synergy in having the two homes on the same property.
Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay
We had promised ourselves not to buy any rental homes after returning to California after being away for two decades. But one time on a cloudy day, we decided to telephone the agent for this oceanfront property with two homes on it, and we were spellbound as soon as we saw the spectacular views of the cove, the shoreline, the waves crashing on outcroppings, and the vast Pacific Ocean from every window. The property is only 60 miles north of San Francisco, so it is not an exhausting drive, nor are there any hairpin curves on the way to it. We cherish it.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The principal residence has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, one of which has a 6 foot bathtub, which is great for relaxing. The beds have high quality mattresses, and the property works well for two couples or a large family with several children. Dogs love the secluded beach and running along (or in) the ocean front. The grandmother unit can accommodate more children or grandparents.
